What to Bring to a Live Concert: Tickets, Venue Rules, and Accessibility FAQs

By Freedom251 Team · · 8 min read

Bring your ticket in the format the venue requires, a charged phone, identification if the event calls for it, and only items that appear on that concert’s current policy page. There is no universal concert bag size, container rule, food allowance, or re-entry policy. The venue’s event page and your ticket email are the controlling references.

Check those sources shortly before you leave for the door time, entry gate, ticket and barcode behavior, bag dimensions, prohibited items, screening procedure, water and food rules, re-entry, and accessibility contacts. The examples below show how much policies can differ; they are not interchangeable rules.

Start with the event page, not a generic packing list

Concert policies can change by artist, date, building, and event promoter. A venue may use one bag policy for a regular event and a stricter one for a particular concert. Seattle Mariners’ concert FAQ, for example, says bag rules may vary by show and explains that concert ticket requirements and screening apply at the event; use the show-specific information rather than assuming the stadium’s general policy covers every performance (Seattle Mariners concert FAQ).

Before traveling, verify these items on the official event page and in your ticket email:

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
  • Event date, gate or door time, and the recommended entrance.
  • Whether the ticket is mobile-only, whether the barcode rotates, and whether screenshots or printed tickets are accepted.
  • Maximum bag dimensions and permitted bag types.
  • Weapons, recording equipment, food, drinks, containers, cameras, and other prohibited items.
  • Security screening and whether you may leave and return.
  • Accessible seating, entrances, sensory resources, assistive listening, and the correct guest-services or ticket contact.

Save the page or email offline if reception may be poor, but treat the venue’s most recent posted policy as the authority if information conflicts.

How to bring and display your concert ticket

Load a mobile ticket before you leave

If the venue uses mobile entry, sign in to the ticketing app or account at home, open the event, and confirm that the ticket appears. Charge your phone fully and, if practical, carry a small permitted power bank. Do not wait until the gate to discover that you have been signed out, need a software update, or cannot load the ticket over a weak cellular connection.

Some venues use a barcode that changes periodically. Bethel Woods describes rotating SafeTix barcodes, so a static image may not work; open the ticket in the approved app when you reach the entrance (Bethel Woods event guide). A screenshot is not a substitute when the venue requires a live barcode.

Do not assume a screenshot or printout is valid

Martin Marietta Center states that digital tickets are used there and that screenshots and print-at-home tickets are not accepted (Martin Marietta Center visitor guide). Other venues may offer different delivery methods. Follow the exact instructions attached to your event instead of relying on a ticket image saved in Photos or a paper copy.

Check account access and transfer details

Open the ticketing account before departing and make sure every attendee’s ticket is visible or has been transferred to the correct person. If your group will enter separately, confirm whether each person needs an individual mobile ticket. 313 Presents lists ticket-app access options in its visit information; use the method its event instructions identify (313 Presents plan-your-visit page).

What bag can you bring?

There is no standard “concert bag” allowance. A clear bag accepted at one venue can exceed another venue’s limit, and some venues permit only very small bags. Measure the bag’s outside dimensions, including pockets and handles, against the current event policy.

Official example Published allowance How to interpret it
Colonial Life Arena Clear bags up to 12 × 6 × 12 inches; a one-gallon clear bag; or a small clutch up to 4.5 × 6.5 inches. These are the dimensions and categories stated on its “Know Before You Go” page. A different venue may use different limits.
Bethel Woods Clear bags up to 12 × 12 × 6 inches or a clutch up to 5.5 × 8.5 inches. Use the event guide for the specific performance; its operational details can change.
313 Presents venues Only very small bags, with stated medical and diaper-bag exceptions. The page does not make the larger clear-bag examples above portable to these venues.
Other venues and shows Not stated universally. Check the event’s own policy before choosing a bag.

Pack only what you need

A compliant small bag still has to pass inspection. Bring the ticket, phone, keys, required medication, identification, and a payment method, then remove unnecessary cases, pouches, and accessories that could slow the check. If a venue allows a clutch but not a larger clear bag, the clutch limit controls.

Medical and diaper-bag exceptions

313 Presents identifies medical and diaper-bag exceptions, and Colonial Life Arena also explains special handling for certain needs (313 Presents plan-your-visit page; Colonial Life Arena “Know Before You Go”). An exception does not necessarily mean an automatic pass at the gate. Find the venue’s procedure, bring only medically or parentally necessary items, and allow extra time for inspection. Ask guest services in advance if documentation, a particular entrance, or a clear bag is required.

Items commonly restricted at concerts

Official policies reviewed for Colonial Life Arena, Bethel Woods, Santander Arena, and T-Mobile Arena restrict or regulate categories such as weapons, outside food and drink, recording equipment, and certain containers or accessories. The exact list varies, so treat the following as a check-before-you-pack list rather than a universal ban:

  • Weapons and objects that could be used as weapons.
  • Professional or dedicated recording equipment, including equipment the event identifies as unauthorized.
  • Outside food or drinks unless the event expressly permits them.
  • Glass, hard containers, oversized bottles, and other container types named in the policy.
  • Large bags, backpacks, luggage, and accessories that exceed the stated dimensions.

Read the complete prohibited-item list for your show. T-Mobile Arena’s A–Z guide is an example of a venue-specific list, not a substitute for the policy at another building (T-Mobile Arena A–Z guide).

Water bottles, food, and special dietary needs

“Can I bring a water bottle?” has no single answer. Bethel Woods’ event guide describes its water and food allowances, while other venues, including Santander Arena, address outside food and drink differently (Bethel Woods event guide; Santander Arena FAQs). Check whether the rule covers empty bottles, sealed drinks, refillable containers, infant feeding, or medically required nutrition. If the page is silent, contact the venue rather than guessing.

Cameras and recording

A phone used for personal photos may be treated differently from professional recording equipment, but only the event policy can establish that distinction. Concert-specific artist restrictions can be stricter than the venue’s general list. Leave specialized cameras, audio recorders, tripods, and detachable lenses at home unless the event expressly permits them.

Security screening, arrival time, and re-entry

Expect screening at the entrance

Venue instructions describe screening procedures that can include bag inspection and other checks. Colonial Life Arena and Seattle Mariners both tell guests to plan for screening; arriving at the door time can leave too little margin for a busy line (Colonial Life Arena “Know Before You Go”; Seattle Mariners concert FAQ). Keep prohibited items out of the car or at home because many venues do not provide storage.

Assume no re-entry unless the policy says otherwise

Several reviewed venues expressly prohibit re-entry, including Colonial Life Arena, 313 Presents venues, and Santander Arena (Colonial Life Arena; 313 Presents; Santander Arena FAQs). Bethel Woods’ guide addresses re-entry for its event, but that information is event-specific (Bethel Woods event guide). Before going inside, use the restroom, take required medication, and resolve food or transportation needs. If you must leave for a medical reason, ask guest services about the procedure before exiting.

Accessibility: arrange help before the concert

Accessibility is best handled directly with the venue or its ticket team before show day. Ask for the accommodation you need and identify the event, ticket account, and date. Availability, locations, and deadlines differ.

Seating and entrances

Ask about accessible seating, companion seating, step-free routes, elevators, accessible parking or drop-off, and an entrance that avoids stairs or long distances. Colonial Life Arena, Santander Arena, and Seattle Mariners provide venue-level accessibility information or contacts; use those channels for the exact concert (Colonial Life Arena; Santander Arena FAQs; Seattle Mariners concert FAQ).

Hearing, visual, and sensory support

Services may include assistive listening devices, hearing or visual support, captioning information, sensory bags, or quiet spaces. Santander Arena says sensory bags and weighted lap pads are available at no cost through its guest-services process and also identifies assistive listening devices (Santander Arena FAQs). This is an example of venue-provided support; another venue may offer different equipment or require advance notice.

What to ask when you contact the venue

  1. Name the concert, date, and ticket location or order number.
  2. Describe the practical accommodation: wheelchair space, transfer seat, companion seat, step-free route, sign-language interpretation, assistive listening, sensory support, or another need.
  3. Ask whether the request must be made before the event, where to check in, and whether a device or service is available on a first-come basis.
  4. Confirm how to reach guest services on the day and what to do if your needs change after arrival.

A practical packing and departure checklist

  1. Open the official event page and ticket email shortly before the show.
  2. Record the date, door time, gate, ticket format, barcode rules, bag dimensions, prohibited items, food and water policy, screening details, and re-entry policy.
  3. Sign in to the ticket app, load every ticket, and verify whether the barcode rotates. Do not rely on a screenshot when the venue says it will not work.
  4. Charge your phone and carry identification, payment, keys, and only necessary medication.
  5. Measure your bag. If it does not fit the exact dimensions or category, leave it behind.
  6. Confirm any medical or diaper-bag exception and allow time for additional inspection.
  7. Contact accessibility or ticket services before the show for seating, entrances, sensory resources, assistive listening, or mobility arrangements.
  8. Plan to remain inside once admitted unless the venue explicitly allows re-entry.
  9. Leave weapons, unauthorized recording gear, and unapproved food or drink at home.
  10. Arrive early enough for the expected screening line and ticket troubleshooting.

When official pages conflict or are unclear

Use this order of priority: the event-specific page, the ticket email or mobile-ticket instructions, the venue’s current general visitor guide, and then a direct call or message to guest services. A general FAQ may be older than an artist-specific update. Bethel Woods labels some operational details for 2026, so recheck those details for later events rather than treating them as permanent policy (Bethel Woods event guide).

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Keep a written note of the answer if you receive special permission, including the department and date. At the entrance, security staff apply the current event policy; a rule accepted at another venue or on a previous visit does not establish an exception here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a clear concert bag bought for another venue?

Only if its type and measured dimensions comply with the current event policy. Clear-bag limits differ substantially, and some venues permit only very small bags or restrict ordinary bags.

What should I do if my phone dies before I reach the gate?

Load the ticket before leaving, keep the phone charged, and follow the venue’s stated ticket-delivery method. If you have a problem, go to the venue’s ticket-help location rather than presenting an unapproved screenshot.

How early should I arrive?

Use the venue’s door time and allow additional time for security screening, bag inspection, accessibility check-in, and mobile-ticket troubleshooting. Busy concerts can make the published door time the minimum, not a guarantee of immediate entry.
