Bring a small, objective-focused kit rather than one expensive setup for every ARC Raiders quest. For most beginners, that means one ranged weapon, a close-range backup, ammunition, healing, and a gadget, while leaving meaningful bag space for quest items and salvage. Read the active objective first: a location visit, item delivery, extraction task, or fight against ARC machines each changes what “enough” equipment means.
Start with the objective, not a universal build
ARC Raiders quests do not all ask you to do the same thing. The roster covered by PC Gamer includes location visits, item searches and deliveries, and objectives involving ARC machines. PC Gamer’s quest-list page counted 100 quests as of the Riven Tides update in its May 1, 2026 update, with more expected in later updates. That is a dated editorial count, not a permanent game statistic, so the objective currently shown in your game is the authority for your run.

Before selecting equipment, identify the main job of the quest. A travel or search mission rewards mobility, modest protection and free capacity. A delivery or extraction mission needs enough survival gear to keep the required item until you leave. A combat objective needs more ammunition, healing and protection, but carrying too much expensive equipment increases the loss if the run fails.
| Objective type | What your loadout must support | What to avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Location visit or traversal | Reliable weapon coverage, a little healing, a gadget that helps you move or disengage, and plenty of open inventory space | Filling the bag with speculative gear before you know whether the quest requires a pickup |
| Search, delivery or carry-and-extract | Enough ammunition and healing to survive the route, plus room for the required item and other useful finds | Recycling or discarding an item that the quest may require later |
| ARC-machine combat | A weapon and ammunition suited to the target, additional healing, and protection that you can afford to lose | A travel-only kit with too little ammunition or a valuable loadout you are not ready to risk |
| Mixed objective | A balanced kit: combat capability first, then capacity for the search or delivery portion | Optimizing for the first step while ignoring the extraction requirement at the end |
If the text is unclear, treat the most demanding part of the objective as the deciding factor. You can always carry less, but returning to a dangerous area because you brought no healing or no space for the quest item is harder to fix once the run has started.

The sensible beginner baseline
ARC Raiders Hub’s third-party beginner guide gives this starting checklist: “Bring one ranged weapon, one close-quarters backup (shotgun or sidearm), two stacks of ammo, one health kit, and a gadget. Keep your inventory at 70% capacity to leave space for salvage.” That is advice from a guide, not an official developer prescription, and exact quantities should be checked against the current game version. It is useful because it covers the five problems a new player most often faces: distance, an enemy that reaches you, running out of ammunition, taking damage, and needing a tool for a situation the weapons cannot solve.
One ranged weapon
A ranged weapon gives you a way to deal with threats before they are on top of you and to contribute to a machine-focused objective without relying on a close-range option. Choose a weapon you can use confidently and that you can replace or craft without making the next run unaffordable. The best beginner choice is therefore the dependable option you already understand, not a theoretical high-end weapon.
A close-range backup
A shotgun or sidearm, both named in the ARC Raiders Hub checklist, covers situations in which an enemy closes the distance or your primary weapon is inconvenient to use. Keep this slot modest on a search or travel quest. It is a safety net, not a reason to carry several specialist weapons.
Ammunition for the actual weapons
Bring ammunition that matches what you equipped, and scale the amount to the objective. The two-stack suggestion is a beginner starting point, not a measured requirement. A quiet search mission may need less than a fight against several ARC machines; a combat-heavy quest may justify extra ammunition if you still have room for quest items.
Healing
At least one health item gives you a way to recover from damage without abandoning the objective immediately. Carry more when the quest explicitly requires combat or a long route, but do not let healing consume the capacity needed for a required delivery. The right quantity depends on the objective, your confidence and what you can replace.

One useful gadget
A gadget should solve a problem the weapons do not. For a traversal task, that may mean helping you reach or leave a position; for a combat task, it may create an opening or improve your ability to disengage. Do not choose a gadget merely because the slot is available. Tie it to the route, target or objective text.
Protection you can afford to lose
Protection improves your margin for error, but expensive equipment raises the cost of a failed extraction. Start with protection you can replace through normal progression. If you are carrying a quest item that cannot be easily recovered, survivability becomes more valuable; if you are practicing on a low-risk objective, a leaner kit preserves resources for later attempts.
Leave room for the quest item
Inventory capacity is part of the loadout, not an afterthought. A search or delivery quest can fail its practical purpose if every slot is occupied by equipment you brought from the start. The ARC Raiders Hub beginner guide’s 70% capacity suggestion is a useful rule of thumb, but it is not an official universal limit. Leave enough room for the number and type of items the objective could require, then add a margin for salvage you do not want to abandon.
Protect quest-relevant items
ARC Raiders AI’s October 4, 2026 new-player guide flags recycling quest items as a common mistake. PC Gamer’s quest roster includes delivery and extraction objectives, so an item that looks disposable may be important to a later step. If an object is named in the active quest, set it aside until the task is complete and you have successfully extracted. When in doubt, re-read the objective before recycling, discarding or trading anything connected to it.
Do not pre-fill the bag with guesses
Speculative gear creates two problems: it reduces space for the items you actually need and increases the value lost if you do not make it out. Bring the minimum equipment that covers the objective and a reasonable chance of survival. Use the open capacity to respond to what you find rather than deciding in advance that every run needs several weapons, every gadget, or a full set of spare supplies.

Crafting can keep a beginner kit affordable
The ARC Raiders Hub workshop reference lists a free basic bench and craft categories that include basic weapons, most ammunition types, shield rechargers and bandages. It separately lists shield and gear crafting. Recipe access depends on progression, so a category being listed does not mean every recipe is available at the start of your account.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →| Workshop category | How it helps quest preparation | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Basic weapons | Provides a replaceable option for a low- or moderate-risk run | Only recipes unlocked for your current progression are available |
| Ammunition | Lets you replenish the ammunition your chosen weapons use | Most ammo types are listed as craftable, but availability and recipes can change with updates |
| Bandages | Supports the healing slot in a basic kit | Carry only what the objective and your risk tolerance justify |
| Shield rechargers | Provides another recovery option when your equipment and recipe access support it | The workshop listing is patch-sensitive |
| Shields and gear | Allows progression-based preparation for tougher objectives | Do not assume a particular shield or gear recipe is unlocked |
Craft after reading the quest, not before. That sequence prevents you from spending materials on a combat-heavy setup for a search mission, or from discovering that you have no capacity left for the objective item.
A six-step loadout decision
- Read the active objective completely. Note whether it asks you to reach a place, find an item, deliver or extract something, damage an ARC machine, or combine several tasks.
- Classify the dominant risk. Travel and search emphasize route safety and capacity; delivery emphasizes protecting the item until extraction; combat emphasizes ammunition, healing and suitable protection.
- Select the minimum weapon coverage. Start with one ranged weapon and one close-range backup. Add another weapon only when the objective clearly justifies it.
- Match consumables to the risk. Bring ammunition for the weapons you selected and at least one healing item. Increase supplies for a known combat objective, but preserve space for quest finds.
- Choose one objective-relevant gadget. A gadget should help with movement, positioning, escape or the specific encounter rather than merely filling a slot.
- Check capacity and loss exposure. Remove speculative equipment until the bag has room for required items and salvage. If losing the kit would prevent another attempt, replace expensive pieces with affordable alternatives.
This process is more reliable than copying a “best” build. No reviewed source provides a controlled comparison or a measured success rate for any loadout, so treat these as practical decision axes: objective fit, loss exposure, survivability and remaining inventory capacity.
Three practical loadout patterns
The following patterns are planning tools, not measured builds. Adjust every slot to the live objective and your unlocked recipes.
| Pattern | Bring | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lean search kit | Ranged weapon, close backup, restrained ammunition, one healing item and a movement or escape gadget | Location visits and item searches where carrying capacity matters most | Less spare ammunition and protection if the route becomes a fight |
| Balanced quest kit | The beginner baseline with enough healing for the route and affordable protection | Mixed objectives or a first attempt when the danger is uncertain | More loss exposure than a deliberately cheap search kit |
| Combat-tailored kit | Weapons you can use against the named target, additional ammunition and healing, plus protection you can replace | ARC-machine damage objectives or encounters known to require sustained fighting | Less room for salvage and a higher replacement cost after failure |
Example: tailoring gear for Boarding the Frigate
Boarding the Frigate shows why a quest-specific decision is better than a universal checklist. PC Gamer’s walkthrough, published October 8, 2026, describes reaching the Arc Frigate and damaging a Rocketeer, Vaporizer and Hydra turret. For that objective, the article recommends bringing plenty of ammunition and healing, and says a Grappling or Snap Hook may help.

Use that recommendation only for this quest example. It does not establish that every quest needs extra ammunition, extra healing or one of those hooks. For Boarding the Frigate, begin with the balanced kit, then increase ammunition and healing because the objective names multiple ARC-machine targets. Consider a Grappling or Snap Hook if it is available to you and supports the route, but do not sacrifice the inventory space needed for the quest’s other requirements. Carry protection and weapons you can afford to lose if the first attempt is exploratory.
After checking the live objective, make sure the kit still has room for anything the quest asks you to collect or extract. A combat recommendation does not cancel the inventory rule; it simply changes how much survival equipment is justified.

Taking a full bag “just in case”
Problem: You have no room when the quest requires a pickup, and the valuable equipment is at risk during an otherwise ordinary search. Fix: Remove duplicate weapons and speculative supplies before departure. Keep the ranged weapon, close backup, ammunition, healing and one relevant gadget unless the objective demands more.
Using the same kit for every objective
Problem: A travel kit can be under-supplied for a machine fight, while a combat kit wastes capacity on a simple delivery. Fix: Rebuild from the objective each time instead of treating one loadout as permanent.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteRecycling a quest item
Problem: The item may be required for delivery or extraction, forcing you to search again. Fix: Keep anything named by the active quest until the objective is complete and you have extracted successfully.
Best Value
Spending heavily on a first attempt
Problem: A failed run consumes equipment you could have used to learn the route or encounter. Fix: Start with affordable, craftable options and upgrade only when the objective, not habit, justifies the cost.
Relying on an old walkthrough without checking the game
Problem: Quest counts, recipes and recommended equipment can change with updates. Fix: Read the current in-game objective and verify that a cited recipe or item is still available before committing resources.
What to do after a failed run
- Identify the failure point. Was the problem insufficient ammunition, no healing, lack of capacity, an unsuitable gadget or an item lost before extraction?
- Change one category first. Add the missing supply or replace the unsuitable tool rather than doubling every part of the kit.
- Lower loss exposure while learning. Use affordable weapons, shields and gear where possible so another attempt remains practical.
- Protect the objective item. If the failure involved a delivery or extraction item, reserve capacity for it before adding optional equipment.
- Recheck the objective after an update. Patch changes can affect quest requirements and workshop recipes, so do not assume the previous attempt’s preparation remains correct.
A failed extraction is information about the specific objective, not proof that one universal loadout is wrong. Keep the parts that worked and correct the bottleneck that ended the run.

- Does your ammunition match the weapons you equipped?

- Is the gadget connected to the route or encounter?

What is established—and what is not
The beginner checklist comes from ARC Raiders Hub, while inventory and quest-item warnings also appear in ARC Raiders AI’s October 4, 2026 new-player guide. The workshop categories come from ARC Raiders Hub’s workshop reference. These are third-party references and can become outdated as the game changes. The Boarding the Frigate example comes from PC Gamer’s October 8, 2026 walkthrough and applies specifically to that mission.
No reviewed source establishes an official developer-endorsed beginner loadout, a single optimal setup for every quest, or an experimentally measured success rate. The practical conclusion is narrower and more useful: match equipment to the active objective, carry enough to survive the likely danger, keep capacity for what you must find or extract, and protect quest-relevant items until the task is finished.
