That concentration makes it easier to see how much a transaction depends on a network of people and firms—not just a vessel. It creates opportunities to meet and compare them; it does not prove that the show creates trust or that any particular provider is trustworthy.
What is the Monaco Yacht Show?
The Monaco Yacht Show is an annual superyachting event held at Port Hercule in Monaco. The organizer says it began in 1991 and describes the event as a place for visitors to discover and compare yacht purchase and charter projects. Its overview refers to 118 expected superyachts, around 60 luxury tenders and more than 560 exhibitors; those are edition-sensitive show-description figures, not a guaranteed lineup for every year. The event’s 2026 exhibitor announcement describes a professional network that spans much of a yacht project’s lifecycle. It lists shipyards, brokerage houses, naval architects, designers, equipment makers, project-management specialists and technical service providers. This mix matters because buying or commissioning a yacht is not a single-provider decision. A buyer may have to evaluate separate parties for vessel selection, design, construction or refit, technical work, insurance, legal advice and ongoing management. The show makes those roles visible in one place; it does not establish who is responsible for a particular buyer’s advice, inspection, execution or after-sale support.
In the 2026 announcement, Informa Prestige CEO Toby Moore called the exhibitor list “the first glimpse of the exceptional concentration of expertise” and said it gives visitors a chance to plan important conversations. That is the organizer’s account of the event’s purpose, not independent evidence that attendance improves transaction outcomes.

Why does the show suggest that trust is distributed across a network?
A yacht project can involve firms with different responsibilities and incentives. A broker may help source or sell a vessel; a shipyard may build it; designers and naval architects shape it; technical specialists supply or service systems; insurers, lawyers and classification bodies address other parts of the project; and managers may handle its operation. The show’s exhibitor categories illustrate this breadth, but they do not prescribe how buyers should assess each role.

The show’s 2024 market report says 239 shipyards completed a superyacht during 2014–2023, while 38 yards delivered ten or more yachts in that period. The figures show a broad group of builders alongside a smaller set with repeated high output; they do not demonstrate that choosing a higher-output yard, or meeting a yard at the show, reduces risk. How should a yacht buyer assess a broker, builder or other provider?
The show can help a buyer identify firms and start conversations. It cannot replace independent checks. For each participant in a purchase, new-build, charter or refit project, clarify the role and the evidence relevant to that role rather than treating a prominent presence at an event as a credential.
- Define the scope: Ask what the provider will and will not do, which project stage it covers, and which jurisdictions are involved.
- Verify relevant experience: Request comparable project examples and references, then check them independently.
- Establish accountability: Identify who is responsible for advice, inspection, execution and work after delivery or sale. Do not assume one provider covers every function.
- Understand incentives: Ask who pays each intermediary, whom they represent and whether any other commercial interests could affect their advice.
- Check specialist responsibilities: For legal, insurance, classification, technical or management matters, establish who is qualified and accountable for that specific work.
These are practical diligence questions, not a checklist published or endorsed by the Monaco Yacht Show. The cited event sources document the network and its services; they do not set standards for vetting an individual firm or measure trust between buyers and providers.
