The Football Association says an Independent Commission decision has “significant implications for the integrity of the game.” In a statement published on 2 October 2026, the FA said it is considering the decision, will act where appropriate and will not comment further while proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City remain ongoing.
What did the FA say?
The FA’s Communications department issued a statement titled “Statement issued following the Independent Commission’s decision”. It said: “The Independent Commission’s decision has significant implications for the integrity of the game. We are carefully considering the decision and its implications and will take action where appropriate.”
The FA added that, because proceedings between the Premier League and Manchester City Football Club remain ongoing, it did “not intend to comment further at this stage.” It said it would continue to monitor developments closely.
What does the statement establish—and what does it leave unanswered?
The statement establishes the FA’s view that the commission’s decision has significant implications for football’s integrity, and that the organisation is reviewing the decision and its implications. It does not describe what the commission decided, its evidence or reasoning, or any breach or sanction. The phrase “significant implications” should not be read on its own as a finding of guilt or an indication of a particular punishment.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Nor does the FA’s statement set out what the ongoing proceedings may determine or their timetable. It is a statement about the FA’s response, not an explanation of the commission’s decision or a final outcome in the Premier League’s proceedings against Manchester City.
What happens next?
The FA said it would take action where appropriate and continue monitoring developments, but did not specify what action it might take or when. Its 2 October 2026 statement says the Premier League–Manchester City proceedings remain ongoing and that the FA would make no further comment at that stage.
