There is no reliable, regulator-verified nationwide list of states where Kickr is legal. Availability in the app is not the same as authorization to offer gambling or prize-based games: the answer can depend on the state and the specific feature. As of October 2026, Illinois has directly challenged Kickr’s prize offerings, and Tennessee regulators have reported that Kickr left the state after enforcement.
What “legal” means for Kickr
The question has three different parts, and they should not be treated as interchangeable:

- Service access: Can someone in the state open or use Kickr?
- Feature access: Does Kickr offer that user sports wagering, casino-style games, or some other feature?
- Authorization: Has the state authorized the specific gambling or prize activity? An app being accessible does not establish that it is authorized.
The available official actions establish examples in Illinois and Tennessee, not a complete current state-by-state list.

What regulators have said about Kickr
Illinois: the Gaming Board said Kickr was not authorized
In a letter dated February 4, 2026, the Illinois Gaming Board said it had observed Kickr offering Illinois users online and mobile slots, table games, and sports wagering with opportunities to win cash, gift cards, and other prizes. The Board stated that it had neither licensed nor authorized Kickr for online gambling, characterized the activity as illegal under Illinois law, and demanded that Kickr block Illinois residents or stop offering prizes. That letter records the Board’s position and demand at that time; it does not establish Kickr’s response or the status of later proceedings. Read the Illinois Gaming Board’s February 4, 2026 letter. Tennessee: regulators reported Kickr had left
In October 2025, the Tennessee Sports Wagering Council said Kickr had ceased sports-betting-related operations after the Council issued cease-and-desist letters. In a September 9, 2026 release, the Council said Kickr was among nine illegal operators that had left Tennessee. These reports document Tennessee enforcement and the Council’s account of Kickr’s departure; they do not establish Kickr’s availability elsewhere. How to check your state
- Check the relevant state gaming regulator. Look for its current list of authorized operators or notices naming Kickr. For regulated sports wagering in Illinois, the Gaming Board says its published sportsbook list contains the only operators it authorizes to conduct sports wagering in the state. Check the Illinois Gaming Board’s authorized sportsbook list. [c002]
- Identify the exact feature. Check whether you mean sports wagering, casino-style games, or another prize feature. Authorization for one activity does not automatically answer whether another is permitted.
- Review Kickr’s current terms and in-app state availability. This can indicate what the service currently makes accessible, but it is not a substitute for a regulator’s authorization.
- Recheck before relying on an older list. State restrictions and operator status can change. A third-party availability guide is a lead to investigate, not a legal determination.
Why online state lists can disagree
GameChampions’ guide, marked updated August 11, 2026, claims partial availability in 46 states and full access in 34. It also lists Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Washington, Alabama, South Carolina, Montana, Nevada, Mississippi, Indiana, Hawaii, Idaho, and Minnesota as states with casino-only access or restrictions. Those are the guide’s claims, not regulator-verified findings, and they should not be read as a definitive legal map. Differences can arise because a guide may describe app access or particular features, while regulators address whether an activity is authorized; the information may also reflect different dates. See the GameChampions guide. [c003]
