These categories should not be treated as interchangeable. A free Sarva Darshan schedule is not a promise of a particular entry time for a paid ticket, and the slot rule announced for SSD and ₹300 SED should not automatically be extended to every other darshan or seva category.

What should I wear for Tirumala darshan?
TTD’s traditional dress code is the safest basis for deciding what to pack. The TTD dress guidance says the code was introduced in 2013, initially for Arjitha Sevas, and later extended to VIP pilgrims seeking break darshan and general pilgrims seeking ₹300 and ₹50 darshan.

For men
TTD lists a dhoti or pyjamas worn with an upper cloth. The requirement is expressed as a combination, so packing only trousers or only a lower garment does not match the published option. A practical outfit is a clean dhoti with a suitable upper cloth, or pyjamas with an upper cloth.
For women
TTD lists either a saree or a half-saree with blouse, or a churidar with pyjama and upper cloth. Choose one of these complete combinations rather than assuming that any casual outfit will satisfy the stated code.
What the published wording does not specify
The dress page identifies garment types. It does not, in the information available here, set out a required colour, brand, fabric, or a complete list of footwear rules for every category. Do not turn the garment list into extra requirements that TTD has not stated. If your booking is for a category not covered by the examples above, check the current category-specific instruction before leaving home.

A spare traditional set can prevent a problem if clothing becomes wet, soiled, or damaged while travelling. Keep the upper cloth with the rest of the outfit rather than assuming it can be found at the last minute. If several members of a group are attending, check each person’s clothing independently; one compliant outfit does not make the entire group compliant.

How the assigned entry time works
TTD’s announcement dated 10 March 2026 says that holders of SSD tokens and ₹300 SED tickets may enter the queue line only at the allotted time. It specifically says that pilgrims arriving earlier or later are not admitted to the queue line under that announcement.
Before travelling
- Read the token or ticket carefully. Identify the individual date, category, and allotted time shown on your own booking document.
- Plan around that time. Allow for your journey to the temple area and for locating the relevant entry point, but do not assume that arriving hours early will let you join the line.
- Keep the booking accessible. A screenshot, downloaded copy, or printed copy can help you read the exact slot when connectivity is poor. This is a practical precaution, not a substitute for any document TTD may currently require.
- Check for a fresh announcement. Procedures, availability, and exceptional arrangements can change, particularly around festivals or large events.
If you are early
Being early does not create an entitlement to enter the queue. Under the cited announcement, early arrivals are not admitted to the queue line. Use the time to arrange clothing, water, food, or other personal needs outside the restricted queue area while monitoring current instructions.
If you are late
The same announcement says late arrivals are not admitted to the queue line. Do not assume that staff can move the booking to another time or that a missed slot will be accepted later; the available notice does not promise either remedy. Ask TTD staff for the current procedure rather than relying on advice from intermediaries.

The 10 March 2026 notice is specifically about SSD-token and ₹300 SED-ticket holders. It does not establish a single arrival rule for every seva, VIP arrangement, or Sarva Darshan visitor. Apply the instruction to the category named in the notice and verify other categories separately.

How Sarva Darshan entry differs
TTD describes Sarva Darshan as free darshan through Vaikuntham Queue Complex II. Its displayed timings vary by day, so a time range found in an older travel post should not be treated as a permanent timetable.
Use the weekly programme
Check TTD’s current weekly temple programme and announcements close to your visit. A day-specific programme is more reliable than a generic statement that Sarva Darshan is always open during the same hours. Special arrangements can also affect access.
Do not infer a wait-time guarantee
TTD’s overview explains the route and facilities but does not guarantee a maximum wait or a fixed duration from queue entry to darshan. Plan with flexibility, especially when your onward travel depends on an exact departure time.
Facilities while waiting
TTD’s Sarva Darshan overview lists free Annaprasadam, drinks at three-hour intervals, free medical facilities, toilets, and filtered water for waiting pilgrims. These facilities are designed for the queue environment; availability can still be affected by day-specific operations or temporary arrangements.

Conduct rules that can affect entry
Clothing and timing are not the only practical rules. TTD asks pilgrims to follow temple procedures and wait their turn. Its official Do’s and Don’ts guidance also includes the following points.
- Avoid touts. TTD’s wording is: “Don’t Approach touts for accommodation and darshan.” Treat unsolicited offers to obtain accommodation, tickets, or accelerated darshan as a warning sign.
- Do not wear footwear in and around the temple premises. Plan how you will manage footwear before entering areas where it is not allowed, and follow on-site directions.
- Observe restrictions on intoxicants and smoking. Do not assume that ordinary public-place rules are the only limits; follow TTD’s temple-specific guidance.
- Check rules concerning head guards and flowers. TTD’s conduct page lists cautions in these areas. If you use protective headgear or intend to carry flowers, verify the current instruction rather than guessing.
- Handle weapons correctly. TTD lists restrictions on weapons and ammunition. Its guidance says that licensed weapons must be declared at the Alipiri checkpoint.
These points are operational rules, not suggestions for negotiating an exception. If staff direct you differently at a checkpoint, follow the current on-site instruction and ask for clarification politely.
A practical preparation checklist
Several days before the visit
- Identify whether your booking is Sarva Darshan, an SSD token, or a ₹300 SED ticket.
- Read the exact date and time on the token or ticket.
- Set aside the TTD-listed traditional clothing for every pilgrim in your party.
- Review TTD’s latest schedule and announcements for the planned day.
- Read the current Do’s and Don’ts page, especially if anyone in the group carries medication, protective headgear, flowers, or a licensed weapon.
On the day
- Dress completely before approaching the temple or queue area.
- Keep the booking or token available for reference.
- Go to the appropriate queue or entry location for your category.
- For SSD and ₹300 SED, enter only at the allotted time stated on the document.
- Follow instructions from TTD personnel, wait your turn, and avoid touts.
- Respect footwear restrictions and use the waiting facilities responsibly.
If plans change
Recheck TTD’s announcements instead of assuming that yesterday’s procedure still applies. A festival, maintenance activity, crowd-control measure, or other special arrangement can change how a route operates. The current official notice for your category takes priority over an old social-media post or advice from an unauthorised intermediary.

Before setting out, confirm the current Sarva Darshan schedule if you are travelling without a paid slot, and confirm that your SSD token or ₹300 SED ticket still shows the time you intend to use. Check TTD announcements for festivals, special queues, closures, or other exceptional arrangements. The clothing guidance and conduct rules should also be reread if your category has changed.

Do not use an undated crowd estimate as a planning guarantee. TTD’s Sarva Darshan page displays an estimate of 60,000–80,000 pilgrims per day, but the page does not provide a publication year for that figure. It should therefore not be treated as a current, dated forecast of the crowd on your visit.
Answers to the two questions most likely to cause a failed entry
Can I enter the queue before my ticket time?
For an SSD token or ₹300 SED ticket covered by TTD’s 10 March 2026 announcement, no. The notice says entry to the queue line is allowed only at the allotted time and that early arrivals are not admitted.
What is the safest outfit if I am unsure?
