What PC Hardware Do You Need to Run a 1,000Hz Gaming Monitor?

You do not need a PC that renders 1,000 frames per second just to display an image on a 1,000Hz monitor. To select and use a monitor’s maximum refresh mode, your PC must meet that model’s connection, graphics-card, operating-system and driver requirements. To take advantage of the refresh rate in a game, the game and your CPU, GPU, memory and software must also sustain an unusually high frame rate. No universal CPU or RAM recipe for 1,000 FPS is established by the manufacturer specifications discussed here.

Refresh rate is not the same as game frame rate

A 1,000Hz specification describes how often a display can refresh in its selected mode. It does not mean every game will produce 1,000 new frames each second. If a game renders fewer frames, the monitor can still operate at its selected refresh rate, but the PC will not supply a unique new game frame for every refresh.

LG says the actual performance of its 25G590B can be affected by CPU, GPU and memory specifications, game-specific frame-rate limits, the operating-system version and graphics-driver version. That is a manufacturer caveat, not a demonstrated minimum system configuration. A headline refresh figure alone also does not establish a visible or competitive advantage for every player or game.

What your PC needs depends on the monitor

LG UltraGear 25G590B: native 1,000Hz at Full HD

LG’s 2026 U.S. availability announcement specifies native 1,000Hz at 1920×1080 for the 25G590B, with an overclocked mode up to 1,100Hz. LG lists Windows 11, a DisplayPort 2.1 connection, and an NVIDIA RTX 50-series GPU or AMD Radeon RX 9070, 9060 or 7900-series GPU, or newer, for up to 1,000Hz on this model. These are LG’s stated requirements for this monitor; they are not a universal checklist for every 1,000Hz display. LG Electronics USA’s announcement and LG’s global announcement describe the product and its mode. LG says the 1,100Hz overclocked mode may limit Adaptive-Sync support.

Acer Predator XB273U F6: 1,000Hz at a lower resolution

Acer’s 2026 specifications list 2560×1440 at 500Hz and 1280×720 at 1,000Hz using Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) mode on the Predator XB273U F6. Its listed inputs are two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4. In other words, reaching the headline 1,000Hz figure means accepting a lower resolution than the monitor’s 1440p mode. Check Acer’s product specifications for the model’s stated details.

These are manufacturer specifications and announcements, not independent comparative gaming tests. Before choosing a monitor or upgrading a PC, check the maximum-refresh resolution, whether the mode is native or DFR, the required input and GPU output, operating-system and driver requirements, and any overclocking or Adaptive-Sync trade-off. Then consider how your target game behaves on your own system.

Will your PC run a 1,000Hz monitor?

Start with the monitor’s stated requirements rather than assuming that any PC with a recent graphics card can enable the maximum mode. For the LG 25G590B, compare your hardware and Windows version with LG’s list, and confirm that your graphics card can provide the required DisplayPort 2.1 connection. Other monitors can use different ports and requirements, so check the exact model’s specifications.

Enabling the mode is only one part of the question. If your goal is to have a game deliver close to 1,000 frames per second, the game’s frame-rate cap and the combined performance of the CPU, GPU, memory, operating system and drivers matter. The cited manufacturer information does not establish a universal CPU, memory capacity or PC build that will sustain 1,000 FPS across games. It also provides no common independent benchmark for ranking these models’ gaming performance.

A practical compatibility check before buying

  1. Find the exact refresh mode. Confirm the resolution paired with the maximum refresh rate, and whether it is native, overclocked or a DFR mode.
  2. Verify the connection end to end. Check the monitor input and the graphics card’s output against the manufacturer’s stated requirement. For LG’s 25G590B, the listed connection for up to 1,000Hz is DisplayPort 2.1.
  3. Check the system requirements for that model. Confirm the specified GPU family, operating-system version and any stated driver conditions. Do not apply LG’s requirements to a different monitor.
  4. Check your intended game’s frame-rate behavior. Game-specific limits can prevent a system from rendering at the rate you want, even when the monitor can refresh at 1,000Hz.
  5. Confirm the trade-offs and current product details. Review overclocking effects, Adaptive-Sync support, current price and regional stock. For AOC’s announced AGP257FT, verify whether its expected Q1 2027 availability has materialized in your region.
