Revenue from operations is the operating-revenue line, total revenue can add other reported income items, profit is an accounting result after expenses, and cash flow records actual cash movements. Before interpreting any figure, check three labels: standalone or consolidated, quarter or full year, and lakh or crore.
Start with the labels: scope, period and units
A number in a financial statement has meaning only in its reporting context. Nimbus Projects publishes both standalone and consolidated information. Standalone accounts describe the company on its own. Consolidated accounts combine the parent and the entities included in the group accounts, after the consolidation adjustments required by the reporting framework. The two scopes can therefore produce very different revenue, expense, asset and cash figures without either statement being erroneous.

The period matters just as much. A quarterly number covers one reporting quarter; a year-to-date number accumulates several quarters; a full-year number covers the complete financial year. The figures discussed here are for FY2025-26 unless a different period is identified. A March 2026 data point from a separate service should not automatically be treated as equivalent to an audited full-year figure until its period definition is confirmed.
Finally, preserve the source unit. Nimbus’ filings use lakh-based presentations, while some financial-data services use crore-based summaries. One crore equals 100 lakh, so a conversion is straightforward, but rounding can make converted figures look slightly different. Keep the original unit beside any converted value and do not compare a lakh figure with a crore figure without converting it.

Nimbus Projects’ FY2025-26 revenue figures
| Revenue measure | Standalone | Consolidated | How to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue from operations | ₹146.73 lakh | ₹22,875.62 lakh | The operating-revenue line in the audited results. |
| Total revenue | ₹4,214.33 lakh | ₹24,164.06 lakh | A broader total that includes the additional revenue or income lines shown in the filing. |
These are FY2025-26 figures from Nimbus Projects’ audited results, 2026. The large gap between the standalone and consolidated operating-revenue lines reflects the different reporting scopes and the entities included in the group accounts. It is not, by itself, evidence that one number is a mistake.
Revenue from operations is the operating line
Revenue from operations is the line most closely associated with the company’s ordinary operating activity. For Nimbus, that line is reported separately for standalone and consolidated statements. Use it when asking how much operating revenue was recognized within the relevant reporting scope.
Do not silently substitute the consolidated amount for the standalone amount, or vice versa. A reader evaluating the legal entity on its own needs the standalone statement. A reader assessing the economic group needs the consolidated statement. The answer changes with the question.

Total revenue is broader than operating revenue
Total revenue in Nimbus’ FY2025-26 filing is higher than revenue from operations in both scopes. The difference is the arithmetic gap between the two reported lines: ₹4,067.60 lakh on a standalone basis and ₹1,288.44 lakh on a consolidated basis. Those gaps should be treated as the aggregate of the other lines included in the filing’s total, not automatically as sales.

The directors’ report separates revenue from operations from other revenues and other income. It also identifies specified share-of-profit items. Consequently, calling total revenue “sales” can overstate operating activity if the other lines are material. For analysis, first inspect the line-item composition, then decide which measure answers the question you are asking.
What Nimbus Projects’ profit figure means
Profit is an income-statement result. It is calculated after the reported expenses, charges and taxes for the period under the applicable accounting rules. It is not a cash balance and does not mean that the same amount entered the bank during the year.
Nimbus Projects’ directors’ report for FY2025-26 gives consolidated net profit after tax of ₹6,367.50 lakh, equal to ₹63.675 crore before any presentation rounding. That is a consolidated, full-year, after-tax figure. It should not be compared directly with a standalone operating-revenue number or with a quarterly result.

A separate financial-data presentation shows an approximately ₹-88 crore consolidated figure for March 2026. This conflicts with the audited directors’ report. The discrepancy cannot be resolved safely by averaging the numbers or choosing the more convenient result. Until those differences are reconciled, the audited directors’ report is the appropriate primary quotation for Nimbus Projects’ FY2025-26 consolidated net profit. The conflicting data point is a warning to verify the source, not evidence that Nimbus simultaneously reported both results.
What the cash-flow statement measures
A cash-flow statement tracks the movement of cash and cash equivalents during the reporting period. Nimbus’ referenced standalone statement says it was prepared under the indirect method in accordance with Ind AS 7, Statement of Cash Flows. The filing describes the statement as follows: has been prepared under the indirect method as set-out in the Ind AS – 7 ‘Statement of Cash Flows’
— Nimbus Projects Limited filing, 2026.
Under the indirect method, the reconciliation begins with an accounting result and adjusts it to arrive at cash generated or used. The adjustments bridge the difference between accrual accounting and cash movement. A reported expense may reduce profit without an immediate cash payment, while a working-capital movement can change cash without changing current-period profit by the same amount.
The three cash-flow sections
- Operating activities: cash associated with the company’s operating activities, after the reconciliation from the accounting result and relevant operating adjustments.
- Investing activities: cash used for or generated by investments and other long-term assets.
- Financing activities: cash arising from or returned to providers of finance, including financing inflows and repayments reported in the statement.
The statement then reconciles the net change in cash with beginning and ending cash balances. That reconciliation is essential: a positive operating subtotal does not necessarily mean total cash increased, because investing and financing movements may offset it.

Can profit rise while cash flow falls?
Yes. Profit and cash flow answer different questions, so they can move in opposite directions in the same period. A higher profit means the income statement recognized a larger after-tax accounting result. Falling cash flow means the cash-flow statement recorded a net reduction in cash, or a weaker cash generation figure, depending on which subtotal and comparison period you use.
Common reasons for the divergence
- Receivables increase: revenue can be recognized before customers pay. Profit rises, but cash remains tied up in amounts due from customers.
- Inventory or other working capital expands: cash may be spent on stock or operating assets before the related sale or expense appears in profit.
- Non-cash expenses affect profit: depreciation and similar accounting charges reduce profit without being a current-period cash payment; the indirect method adjusts for them.
- Timing of payables changes: paying suppliers sooner uses cash even if the related expense was recognized earlier.
- Investing outlays increase: buying property, equipment or investments can reduce total cash while operating profit remains strong.
- Financing cash leaves the business: debt repayment, distributions or other financing movements can lower cash without reducing operating profit.
For Nimbus, do not infer that any one of these occurred merely from the reported profit figure. Use the operating, investing and financing sections and the accompanying reconciliation to identify the actual driver.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical method for reading Nimbus’ statements
- Identify the document. Prefer the audited results and directors’ report for the period being analyzed. Note whether the page is a statutory filing or a secondary data presentation.
- Mark the scope. Write “standalone” or “consolidated” beside every number before comparing it with another number.
- Mark the period. Distinguish a quarter, year-to-date period and FY2025-26 full-year result. Do not combine them in one trend line.
- Separate the revenue lines. Record revenue from operations first, then total revenue. Read the filing’s other-revenue and other-income lines before describing total revenue as sales.
- Record the profit level. Specify whether the figure is net profit after tax and whether it is standalone or consolidated. Keep the source unit unchanged until the comparison is complete.
- Read all three cash-flow sections. Check operating, investing and financing activities, then follow the reconciliation from net change to beginning and ending cash.
- Investigate conflicts. If a service shows a different result, compare scope, period, units, restatements and treatment of exceptional items with the audited filing.
How to compare the FY2025-26 numbers without misleading yourself
Standalone versus consolidated
A standalone comparison asks how the individual company performed. A consolidated comparison asks how the reporting group performed. Because consolidation brings additional entities into the group view, consolidated revenue can be many times the standalone amount. The Nimbus figures demonstrate why a headline that mixes the two scopes is unreliable.

Use revenue from operations for the operating-revenue question. Use total revenue only when you intend to include the additional lines reported in the filing. If the purpose is to assess sales momentum, the operating line is usually the cleaner starting point; if the purpose is to reconcile the statement’s top-line total, inspect every included line.
Best Value
Profit versus cash
Use net profit after tax to discuss accounting performance for the period. Use the cash-flow statement to discuss liquidity movement. Neither substitutes for the other. A profitable period can consume cash, and a period with weak profit can show cash improvement from collections, asset sales or financing. The statement’s classifications and reconciliation determine which explanation applies.
Frequent interpretation errors and their fixes
- Error: treating the largest number as the “real” one. Fix: identify whether it is consolidated, standalone, quarterly or full-year before drawing a conclusion.
- Error: calling total revenue sales. Fix: inspect the separate revenue, other-revenue, other-income and share-of-profit lines.
- Error: comparing lakh and crore values directly. Fix: convert units and retain the original source unit in notes.
- Error: treating profit as cash received. Fix: read the indirect-method reconciliation and all three cash-flow sections.
- Error: averaging conflicting data-service figures. Fix: reconcile scope, period, units and adjustments to the audited filing.
- Error: assuming a March-labelled data point is the same as the audited annual result. Fix: confirm whether the page reports a quarter, trailing period, fiscal year or restated series.
What the reported figures establish
For FY2025-26, Nimbus Projects reports separate standalone and consolidated revenue measures, and the consolidated group figures are far larger than the standalone operating figures because the statements cover different scopes. The filing also reports a consolidated after-tax profit, while a separate data presentation gives an unresolved contradictory loss figure. The audited directors’ report should therefore anchor any published profit statement until the discrepancy is explained.
The cash-flow statement supplies a different lens. Nimbus identifies its standalone statement as an Ind AS 7 indirect-method statement with operating, investing and financing sections and a beginning-to-ending cash reconciliation. That structure is what lets a reader test whether accounting profit converted into cash, rather than assuming it did.
