Revolut CEO Nik Storonsky says he wants to build a global technology company from Europe, on a scale comparable in ambition to Meta, Google or OpenAI. At a Wave by Vento event in Turin on October 9, 2026, he described AI plans that extend Revolut beyond conventional banking—but the reported ideas are plans, not proof that Revolut has reached big-tech scale or launched the proposed features broadly.
What Storonsky said he wants Revolut to become
In a conversation with Exor CEO John Elkann at Wave by Vento, Storonsky framed his goal as building a global technology company born in Europe. The Next Web quoted him saying: “Our American dream, I mean, in this case, European dream, would be to build a global tech company similar to Meta, Google or OpenAI, but out of Europe.” La Repubblica reported a similar formulation, also naming Anthropic.

The comparison describes an ambition, not an assertion that Revolut already matches those companies in scale, reach or range of products. Storonsky said the company should evolve into something much larger than it is today; ANSA reported his emphasis on continuing to build, experiment and innovate.

The ideas Storonsky described remain closely connected to Revolut’s financial-services business. Reporting from The Next Web and La Repubblica outlined several possible uses:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- AI agents for customer tasks: agents that could make purchases for customers, subject to the relevant permissions.
- Personal-finance analysis: tools that examine a customer’s finances and offer insights.
- Investment suggestions: agents that could suggest stocks or investment funds. The reports describe suggestions, not autonomous investment decisions.
- Proprietary AI models: models trained on transaction data and company data, alongside plans for company data-centre capacity.
- Connections to outside agents: an interface through which third-party agents could interact with Revolut’s agents when a customer authorizes it.
These are reported plans and descriptions, not confirmation of general availability. The coverage does not give a launch date, independently assess model performance, or set out a complete security design for agent access.
How the ambition relates to Revolut’s existing business
La Repubblica describes Revolut as a British fintech offering app-based digital banking, payments, currency exchange, savings and investments. It reported about 80 million customers in its account of the event; that figure is reported coverage, not an independently audited count in the sources cited here.

Storonsky’s comments also connect AI to current operations. In a separate interview, La Stampa reported his claims that 90% of customer support was fully automated, around 200 engineers and data scientists were working on fraud, and more than 20 models analyzed transactions. Those figures are his claims as reported by the newspaper; the article does not independently verify them.

Why becoming a global company from Europe is difficult
Storonsky has argued that scaling in Europe is harder than in the United States because companies face many markets, languages and regulatory differences, alongside constraints involving access to capital and talent. These are his explanations of the challenge, as reported by La Stampa, rather than a complete account of the causes of Europe’s technology-growth gap.

He also identified the United States as important to Revolut’s global expansion and said products need adapting to local customer needs, according to ANSA. That is a strategic priority, not evidence that the company has already achieved its intended position in that market.

Calling Revolut a European counterpart to Meta or Google is meaningful only as a statement of ambition for now. The available event coverage leaves several practical tests unresolved:

- Scale: whether Revolut can grow from a financial-services app into a much broader technology business.
- Delivery: whether the described AI agents, models and infrastructure become reliable products customers can actually use.
- Control: how customer authorization, fraud prevention and security will work when outside agents can act through financial accounts. The reports do not provide enough detail to assess those safeguards.
- International execution: whether Revolut can adapt products to different markets while navigating local rules and customer needs.
Until those questions are answered by launched products and demonstrated results, Storonsky’s comparison is best read as a vision for what Revolut could become—not a description of what it is today.
