It does not automatically cover every breakdown or every repair cost: the exact model and warranty document determine which parts are covered, for how long, and whether labor is included. A component can have a longer parts warranty than labor warranty.
What an LG appliance warranty promises
LG says its limited warranty applies to defects in materials or workmanship under normal and proper use. If a product fails during its warranty period, LG states: “If your LG Product fails during the Product’s warranty period, LG will, at its option, repair or replace the Product.” That wording does not guarantee that every failure is covered or that LG will replace the entire appliance. The product-specific warranty, exclusions, proof requirements, and applicable law govern the claim.

LG’s general U.S. warranty information says its limited warranty applies to products lawfully purchased, installed, and used in the United States, including U.S. territories, and that coverage starts from original delivery or purchase. Warranty schedules are not interchangeable across LG appliances. The following are examples from specific LG model pages and warranty documents, not universal terms for every refrigerator, washer, range, or dishwasher.

LG’s product support pages provide model-specific information. For example, the LRFXC2606S refrigerator page and WM9900HSA washer page display their own coverage schedules. Terms and documents can vary by model, revision, and purchase circumstances.
Does LG warranty cover labor?
Sometimes, and not necessarily for the full parts-coverage period. A base warranty may cover both parts and labor while an extended component warranty covers only the part. For instance, LG lists ten years of compressor parts but five years of compressor labor for the LRFXC2606S. The reviewed Signature laundry terms likewise make extended motor and drum coverage parts-only, with applicable labor paid by the customer.

Before arranging service, confirm whether the failed component is covered on the service date, whether labor remains covered, and whether the warranty requires in-home service or imposes other charges. A long component term alone is not enough to determine the final repair bill.

Exact exclusions depend on the appliance’s warranty document. LG’s reviewed Signature laundry and 2026 range terms illustrate causes and services that may be excluded or limited:

- Service visits for delivery, pickup, installation, operating instructions, wiring correction, or correcting unauthorized repairs.
- Failures during power outages or caused by inadequate electrical service.
- Problems caused by water supply or drainage, improper installation, improper maintenance, or use contrary to the owner’s manual.
- Accident, pests, severe weather, fire, flood, or other events outside LG’s control.
- Unauthorized modifications, repairs, or parts; non-approved components, accessories, or cleaning products.
- Use outside the intended or normal household purpose, including commercial use where excluded.
- Some cosmetic, shipping, or handling damage, subject to the document’s reporting rules; certain accessories and consumables may also be excluded.
A product warranty is not necessarily coverage for repairing the home’s wiring, plumbing, gas connection, or installation, or for damage to surrounding property. LG’s separate Flat-Rate Repair program also lists exclusions involving extensive fire, flood, improper gas/electrical/water connections, infestation, and damage to surrounding areas or personal property.
The reviewed warranty documents note that state law can affect limitations and implied-warranty clauses. They do not establish the outcome of an individual dispute; the governing warranty and applicable law matter.

How to check coverage for your appliance
- Find the exact model and serial number. Read the appliance label, then open LG’s product support page for that model.
- Read the warranty supplied with the appliance. Check the document version, coverage start date, and schedule for the failed component. Do not assume a generic article or a PDF for another model applies.
- Locate your proof of purchase. The reviewed LG product warranties require proof of original retail purchase specifying the model and purchase date. Keep the receipt or other qualifying record.
- Separate parts coverage from labor coverage. Check whether both are still within term and note any service charges or customer-paid labor.
- Compare the suspected cause with the exclusions and contact LG. LG’s support page provides repair-service information and distinguishes warranty service from out-of-warranty repair; LG makes the claim decision under the applicable terms.

What happens after the original warranty expires?
Optional LG Premium Care
LG Premium Care is a separately purchased service plan, not part of the original manufacturer warranty. LG’s plan information describes coverage for mechanical and electrical breakdowns after the manufacturer warranty expires, subject to plan limits and exclusions; it directs customers to Asurion’s terms. LG’s warranty information says plans of one, two, or three years may be offered and describes parts and labor coverage without deductibles. Availability and terms depend on the plan and jurisdiction.
