There is no dependable single price for ISO/IEC 27001 certification for an Indian software company. Published 2026 estimates from Indian consultancies put first-year costs anywhere from roughly ₹2 lakh to ₹10 lakh, and those figures are not directly comparable because each provider assumes a different company size, scope, starting maturity and set of inclusions. The practical way to budget is to define your intended information security management system (ISMS) scope first, collect proposals against that same scope, and then add the costs that most quotes leave out: internal staff time and years of surveillance audits.
Published price points for 2026
The table below lists the rupee figures that Indian providers have published in 2026. Each row is that provider’s own estimate for the company profile it describes. None of them is an independent market survey, and none should be averaged with the others.

Two gaps matter when reading this table. TCSA’s band stops at 100 people, and none of the sources reviewed gives a published rupee figure for a company of 100 to 200 employees. Anyone quoting that size should treat it as a bespoke proposal rather than a benchmark. Also note that the TCSA recertification figure is a year-four estimate, so it belongs in a multi-year budget, not the first-year total.

A first-year budget usually combines four or five separate costs. Knowing which one a quote includes is more useful than comparing headline totals.

Readiness and implementation
This is the consulting layer: gap assessment, risk assessment, ISMS policies and documentation, control implementation or remediation, staff training and internal audit preparation. Consultants often include some or all of these, but the exclusions differ, so confirm them line by line. Most providers quote this layer separately from the certifier’s fee, and TCSA states explicitly that its consulting price does not include the certification-body fee.
Independent certification audit
The certification body assesses your ISMS and issues the certificate. It charges its own fee, usually in two stages. Ask each certification body what its quote covers for Stage 1 and Stage 2, travel, follow-up on audit findings and the certification decision. A consultant’s estimate for this line is only a planning figure until the certifier issues its own quote.
Surveillance and recertification
Certification is not a one-time purchase. Surveillance audits take place during the certificate cycle, and the certificate must be renewed later. The only annual surveillance figure in the sources reviewed is TCSA’s ₹60,000 to ₹80,000, and it is a provider estimate. Request the chosen certifier’s own full-cycle fee schedule before you commit to a multi-year number.

Internal staff time
Your own team has to supply evidence, attend workshops, write procedures and implement controls. No dependable general rupee amount or hours-per-employee benchmark for this effort was established in the sources. Estimate it from your actual gap analysis: count the systems, teams and sites in scope, then the number of controls that are missing or immature. Treat that as a real budget line, not an overhead footnote.
Compliance software
GRC and compliance platforms can replace some consultant work or support it. The cost comparisons available were written by vendors and are not directly comparable, so check current pricing from each vendor. Software helps manage evidence and workflow but does not by itself make an organisation certified.
Why quotes for the same company diverge
Price depends on the things a quote is built from. The main drivers are:
- Headcount and sites: the number of people and physical or cloud locations in scope.
- Defined scope: whether the ISMS covers one product, the whole company, or specific teams and systems.
- Infrastructure complexity: number of environments, third-party services and integrations.
- Existing security maturity: a company with documented policies and controls needs less remediation than one starting from scratch.
- Consultant deliverables: whether the price includes implementation or only advisory support.
A single-site product company with prepared documentation is not comparable to a multi-site firm with substantial remediation work, even if both have similar headcounts. This is why the same profile can attract a wide spread of quotes.
Checking the certifier in India
Two official checks should come before you sign anything.

- BIS scheme: the Bureau of Indian Standards identifies the scheme as IS/ISO/IEC 27001:2022, Information Security Management Systems. Its scheme pages cover the process, fees, licence, surveillance and renewal.
- NABCB directory: the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies publishes a directory of accredited ISMS certification bodies with accreditation validity information. Confirm that your chosen body appears there, and that the accreditation covers the scope you need.
NABCB’s ISMS accreditation criteria are based on ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and set the requirements that certification bodies must meet. A consultant can help you prepare, but the consultant is not the certifier, and you should not assume otherwise.
How to compare proposals
- Write a one-page scope statement listing the people, locations, products, systems and teams the ISMS will cover.
- Send that same statement to at least three consultants and to the certification bodies you are considering.
- Ask every consultant to separate readiness and implementation from the certification-body fee, and to list exclusions in writing.
- Ask each certifier to quote Stage 1, Stage 2, travel, findings follow-up and the certification decision separately.
- Request the annual surveillance and recertification fees for the full certificate cycle.
- Estimate internal staff effort from your gap analysis and add it to the budget.
- Check each certifier’s NABCB accreditation status and scope before you sign.
Limits of the available evidence
The figures above are published provider estimates, not verified market averages, and they were not produced on a common method. No current, independent set of quotes for a consistently defined Indian software-company scope was found. Exact costs for internal effort, remediation and tooling depend on your own scope and gap analysis. Use the figures to frame a conversation with providers, then replace them with real proposals before you put a bespoke budget in front of leadership.
