World of Warcraft: Forever is Blizzard Entertainment’s official World of Warcraft game announcement—not a fan-made game. The confusion comes from independent projects with similar names, including the fan information site wowforever.info and the separately operated ForeverWoW server. Blizzard’s game, those fan projects, and their access instructions are different things.
Blizzard describes Forever as a permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW. It returns players to the original continents, follows the events of Warcraft III: Reforged — Forsaken Kingdom and leads toward Molten Core, and builds progression toward level 60 with new stories, experiences, and updates.

What Blizzard means by “World of Warcraft: Forever”
Blizzard’s announcement presents World of Warcraft: Forever as a new official version of World of Warcraft. It is intended to exist alongside the modern game and Classic WoW, rather than replace either one. The phrase “permanent home” is Blizzard’s description of the project’s role in the World of Warcraft lineup.

The announced setting is a return to the original continents. The story is positioned after the events of Warcraft III: Reforged — Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Blizzard says the journey is designed to reach level 60 and to add new stories, experiences, and updates along the way. Those statements establish the broad direction; they do not, by themselves, specify every class, zone, raid, profession, server rule, or endgame system.

Blizzard’s official description says the project is meant to give past, current, and new players a familiar but fresh Azeroth, with the world and community emphasized alongside progression. That is marketing language rather than a complete feature specification, so individual systems should be judged by later official patch notes and announcements.
Why calling it a fan-made project is misleading
The title “A Guide to the Fan-Made Project” can refer to several unrelated uses of the word Forever. The operator, account system, client, and rules determine which project a page is discussing.
| Project | Who operates it | What it is | Affiliation stated in the available material |
|---|---|---|---|
| World of Warcraft: Forever | Blizzard Entertainment | An officially announced World of Warcraft game, positioned alongside modern and Classic WoW | Official Blizzard product |
| wowforever.info | An independent site | A fan information and guide site that reports on Blizzard’s announcements | The site says it is independent and unaffiliated with Blizzard |
| ForeverWoW | An independent server team | An English-language fan server running on its own core | The site says it is a fan project and is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment |
These labels are not interchangeable. A guide site does not operate Blizzard’s game, and a fan server is not an alternate login route to Blizzard’s official servers. A page that discusses a custom client, a private account, or a server-specific beta is describing that independent project, even if it uses “WoW Forever” in its branding.
What Blizzard has actually announced
A parallel home for World of Warcraft
Forever is described as a new permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW. That wording indicates a separate branch of the World of Warcraft experience, not a temporary event realm. Blizzard has not stated in the supplied announcement that existing modern or Classic characters will transfer into Forever, so players should not assume shared progression, shared economies, or shared subscriptions beyond the announced access requirement.

Setting and progression
The announcement returns players to the original continents and places the story after Warcraft III: Reforged — Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Blizzard says progression goes to level 60. The announcement also promises new stories, experiences, and updates, but it does not provide a complete list of zones, classes, dungeons, raids, professions, talent trees, or itemization rules.
This timeline is useful for understanding the project’s intended flavor: it draws on an earlier Azeroth while adding material that was not part of the original release sequence. It should not be read as proof that every historical mechanic will be reproduced exactly or that every later Classic feature will be included.
Gamepad support
A recap of Blizzard’s “What’s Next” panel reports official gamepad support for players who prefer a controller. The available recap does not identify tested controller models, operating-system requirements, accessibility limitations, or whether every interface can be used comfortably with a gamepad. A controller is therefore an optional input method, not a stated requirement for playing.

Launch date and official access
Global launch timing
Blizzard’s announcement gives a global launch date of November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Because the time is stated in Pacific Time, the local clock time differs by region and may be affected by daylight-saving rules. Check Blizzard’s current countdown or account page for the time displayed in your region as launch approaches.
What you need to play
Access to the base game is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time, according to the announcement. The wording does not establish a separate Forever purchase price. It also does not say that an upgrade edition is required, so buying an optional pack should not be treated as a prerequisite for the base game.
- Use the official Blizzard account and Battle.net ecosystem rather than a third-party client or server account.
- Have an active World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time when the game becomes available.
- Check the current official launch notice for regional timing, installation instructions, and any account or platform requirements added after the announcement.
Optional editions and what they include
Blizzard lists optional upgrade editions for pre-purchase through Battle.net. The announcement names the Skyborne Heroic Pack and Skyborne Epic Pack, plus a limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. It does not establish the prices of those editions in the supplied material, and prices or availability can change before launch.
| Edition or item | Details Blizzard lists | Is it required for base access? |
|---|---|---|
| Skyborne Heroic Pack | An optional upgrade edition; the supplied announcement does not specify its complete contents | No requirement is stated |
| Skyborne Epic Pack | Beta access beginning September 17, 30 days of game time beginning November 4, and additional cosmetics and other extras | No; the listed benefits are upgrades |
| Warcraft Forever Collection | A limited-time collection that also includes Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign | No requirement is stated |
| Collector’s Edition | A physical edition sold through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last | No requirement is stated |
Understanding the Epic Pack dates
The Epic Pack’s beta access is listed as beginning September 17, 2026, while its 30 days of game time begin on November 4, 2026. Beta access and launch access are separate benefits: a beta invitation does not change the public launch date, and the 30-day allowance is not described as starting when you purchase the pack.

Blizzard says a physical World of Warcraft: Forever Collector’s Edition will be offered through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last. The announcement does not establish an Amazon listing, a guaranteed regional release, shipping dates, or the edition’s complete contents. Treat store availability as time-sensitive and verify the current Blizzard listing before ordering.

The independent fan information site
wowforever.info describes itself as an independent fan and information site. It says published Blizzard announcements are treated as confirmed and unreleased details are labeled as pending. That makes it a reference site for following announcements, not an official Blizzard support channel or a place where Blizzard accounts are created.
When using an independent guide, check whether a statement is quoting a Blizzard announcement, interpreting an announcement, or speculating about an unreleased feature. A guide’s “pending” label is the site’s editorial classification; it does not turn an unannounced feature into a Blizzard commitment. For account, billing, launch, and installation questions, use the current official Blizzard pages and Battle.net notices.
The separate ForeverWoW fan server
ForeverWoW describes itself as an English-language server running on its own core. Its site also states that it is a fan project and is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment. Claims on that site about a client, accounts, beta access, progression, or server rules apply to ForeverWoW’s project—not to Blizzard’s official World of Warcraft: Forever.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsA fan server can therefore have different technology, content, moderation, uptime, account procedures, and update schedules from Blizzard’s game. Nothing in Blizzard’s announcement establishes feature parity between the two projects. Do not use a fan server’s client download or account registration as a method of accessing the official game.

Official game versus fan projects
| Question | Blizzard’s official Forever | Independent guide | ForeverWoW server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who runs it? | Blizzard Entertainment | An independent information-site operator | An independent fan-server team |

How to tell which “Forever” a page means
Use these checks before following a download, payment, or account instruction:
- Identify the operator. Blizzard’s announcement and Battle.net pages describe the official game. A page that identifies itself as an independent guide or fan server is describing a separate project.
- Look at the account path. Official access uses a Blizzard account, Battle.net, and a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. A separate server account is not an official Blizzard entitlement.
- Read the affiliation statement. The independent guide and ForeverWoW server both state that they are unaffiliated. That disclaimer is a useful warning not to treat their instructions as Blizzard support.
- Check the terminology. References to the Skyborne packs, Battle.net pre-purchase, the November 4, 2026 launch, or the Warcraft Forever Collection point to Blizzard’s announcement. References to an independent core, custom client, or server-specific beta point to ForeverWoW.
- Match the date and benefit. The Epic Pack’s beta begins September 17, 2026, while its 30 days of game time begin November 4. A different date on a fan page may refer to that page’s own testing schedule.
A practical preparation checklist for the official launch
Before choosing an edition
- Decide whether you only need subscription or Game Time access. The announced optional packs are not stated to be mandatory.
- Compare the actual contents shown on the current Battle.net listing. The supplied announcement does not provide prices or a complete contents list for every pack.
- If you want a physical collectible, check the Blizzard Gear Store listing and regional shipping details while supplies last.
Before launch day
- Confirm that your Blizzard account can log in to Battle.net and that your subscription or Game Time is active.
- Allow time for installation and updates rather than waiting until 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time on November 4.
- If you plan to use a controller, verify that your operating system recognizes it and test the gamepad interface when the official client makes the feature available.
- Convert the announced Pacific Time launch to your local time zone using a current time-zone tool or the local time displayed by Blizzard.
When a page tells you to use a different client
Stop and identify the operator before entering credentials or downloading software. A fan server’s client may be intended only for that server. It does not prove that the software is approved for Blizzard’s game, and it does not grant access to Blizzard’s subscription service.
Common misconceptions and the accurate correction
| Misconception | Correction |
|---|---|
| “Forever is a private server.” | Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever is an official game announcement. ForeverWoW is a separate fan server. |
| “The fan guide is Blizzard’s official site.” | wowforever.info identifies itself as independent and unaffiliated. |
| “The Epic Pack is required to play.” | Blizzard says access is included with a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time; the Epic Pack is listed as an optional upgrade. |
| “Buying the Collection is the only way to get the game.” | The Collection is a limited-time optional package that includes Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign. No requirement to buy it is stated. |
| “Any controller will definitely work.” | A Blizzard panel recap reports official gamepad support, but it does not identify tested models or guarantee compatibility for every controller. |
| “A fan server’s beta date is Blizzard’s launch date.” | Blizzard’s announced global launch is November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Independent projects may use their own schedules. |
Details that have not been established
The announcement establishes the project’s identity, broad setting, level-60 direction, launch timing, access method, optional editions, and reported gamepad support. It does not, in the available material, establish:
- Subscription or upgrade prices, regional pricing, taxes, or recurring billing terms.
- Specific system requirements, supported operating systems, storage requirements, or download size.
- Which controller models are tested or whether every interface is gamepad-optimized.
- The complete class, race, zone, dungeon, raid, profession, talent, economy, or player-versus-player roster.
- Whether characters, items, achievements, or friends lists are shared with modern or Classic WoW.
- The complete contents of the Skyborne Heroic Pack.
- Collector’s Edition contents, regional inventory, or shipping schedules.
Do not fill those gaps with assumptions from another World of Warcraft version or with a fan server’s implementation. Use later Blizzard announcements for official details and label independent interpretations as such.
Bottom line for readers
If you mean Blizzard’s World of Warcraft: Forever, you are asking about an official game planned as a permanent companion to modern and Classic WoW, launching globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time with access included in a World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time. If you mean wowforever.info or ForeverWoW, you are looking at an unaffiliated fan guide or fan server. Confirm the operator before trusting a feature claim, entering account details, or installing a client.
