Deep Silver describes the factions as mechanically distinct, but full faction rules and balance have not been established in the cited announcements. The conflict returns to Kronus, the planet previously featured in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. The Blood Ravens return with Captain Cyrus and Chief Librarian Jonah Orion, while players are also set to command the Dark Angels in other campaign missions. Each faction has a distinct campaign that feeds into one overarching narrative. The announced setup places the Adeptus Mechanicus in pursuit of lost knowledge and artifacts, pits two Ork Warbosses against one another for leadership of a Waaagh, and brings Necron forces to the surface from an invasion fleet and buried tombs. Base building and battles
Official descriptions frame Dawn of War IV as a return to mass battles and base building, with an expanded Sync Kill system. The announcements establish the intended focus, but not how well these systems play, how readable combat is in practice, or how the final balance will work.

Campaign length and multiplayer
Steam advertises more than 70 campaign missions. That is a pre-release store claim, not an independently counted or played mission total. Steam also lists single-player, online co-op, and online PvP. Deep Silver additionally identifies Skirmish and Last Stand among the available modes and says many modes can be played solo or cooperatively. Check the Steam store listing for its current feature and mode descriptions.
When does Dawn of War IV release, and what platform is it on?
The current announced release date is December 3, 2026, for PC (Windows) via Steam. Deep Silver’s FAQ, Steam, and a September 30, 2026 Warhammer Community launch-date update all give December 3. Earlier official pages used a general 2026 window, and an older May 2026 festival page named September 17; those dates are superseded by the later updates.
