Is tmshinstall.exe safe?

Check the file before repairing or deleting it
1. Record the path and error details
Write down the exact message, error code, file path, time of occurrence and your Windows edition. If the message came from a program, capture its name too. Similar-looking names can belong to unrelated files, and a repair aimed at the wrong path can damage another application.
2. Inspect Properties and the signer
- In File Explorer, right-click the executable and select Properties.
- On the General tab, note the full location and file size.
- Open Digital Signatures, select the listed signer and choose Details.
- Continue only if Windows reports that the signature is valid and the publisher is the expected Thrustmaster/Guillemot entity. If the tab is missing or the signature is invalid, treat the file as unverified and scan it before running it.

Microsoft also recommends downloading apps and drivers only from trusted sources, such as the software or hardware maker’s official site.

1. Remove the damaged software normally
- Disconnect the TH8 shifter from USB.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features on older Windows).
- Select the TH8 RS Shifter or associated Thrustmaster driver entry and choose Uninstall.
- Approve the prompts and restart Windows when the uninstaller requests it.

If the official installer is flagged, keep the detection information and contact Thrustmaster rather than downloading an alternative copy from an unverified site.
Can you delete tmshinstall.exe?
Do not delete it solely because its name is unfamiliar.
