The giant bird seen in Helheim in God of War (2018) is often identified by players as Hraesvelgr, a figure associated with Helheim in Norse tradition. But the game’s official material cited here does not confirm that name, so Hraesvelgr is a plausible interpretation—not a verified in-game identity.
Why players think the bird is Hraesvelgr
The creature’s immense size and its appearance in Helheim make Hraesvelgr a natural candidate. A secondary explainer reports that players commonly use this identification, but does not point to an official developer statement or in-game text naming the bird. Mythological resemblance can explain the theory; it cannot establish what the game intended.

The giant bird is not an Odin’s Raven collectible
The distant giant bird is an environmental sight, not one of the smaller Odin’s Ravens players seek out as collectibles. Santa Monica Studio’s Realm Summaries lists six Odin’s Ravens in Helheim. That count describes the collectible category; it does not identify or count the giant creature.

The distinction matters because raven-related names and imagery can make the two easy to conflate. A guide to Odin’s Ravens in Helheim likewise covers the collectibles, not the identity of the background bird.
