Compared with the older Kirin 9000S, a community-maintained hardware reference lists it with more CPU cores and threads and a higher top-core frequency. Those specifications do not prove a real-world speed advantage: the cited sources provide no independent, controlled Kirin 9050 Pro-versus-9000S benchmark.
What is the Kirin 9050 Pro?
The Kirin 9050 Pro is a Huawei smartphone SoC—a system-on-chip that integrates key computing components, including the CPU and graphics processor. Huawei’s October 1, 2026 Mate 90 launch announcement identifies it in the Mate 90 Pro Max Premium Edition and Mate 90 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN. Huawei’s announcement attributes a 31% overall performance increase to the premium Mate 90 variants using the chip, but does not establish that gain against the Kirin 9000S or provide an independent test.

TechRadar also reports that the chip powers the Mate XT2 Ultimate Design, which it says went on sale in China on September 12, 2026. That device identification is secondary reporting, rather than a claim in the cited Mate 90 announcement.
How do the Kirin 9050 Pro and Kirin 9000S compare?
The clearest available comparison is the listed CPU and GPU configuration. Jie Ge’s Knowledge Base, a community-maintained hardware reference crawled in 2026, gives these specifications:
#1 Best Overall
- PRIVACY DISPLAY: Automatically hide your screen from those beside you. The built-in privacy display can be preset¹ to turn on when receiving notifications, typing passwords, or using specific apps
- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist² with Galaxy AI.³ Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping

| Chip | Reported CPU configuration | Reported top-core frequency | Reported GPU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kirin 9000S | 8 cores / 12 threads | 2.62 GHz | Maleoon 910 |
| Kirin 9050 Pro | 9 cores / 16 threads | 3.10 GHz | Maleoon 955 |
These are reported specifications from a secondary reference, not independently verified performance results. More listed cores, threads, or clock frequency do not translate directly into a particular speedup: workload, software, power limits, cooling, and sustained operation also matter. The cited sources do not provide a controlled head-to-head test or sustained-performance comparison between these two chips.
Is the Kirin 9050 Pro faster than the Kirin 9000S?
The available evidence supports saying that the 9050 Pro has a newer, higher-listed CPU configuration, not assigning it a percentage advantage over the 9000S. Huawei-attributed figures reported by Huawei Central and TechRadar use the Kirin 9030 Pro as their baseline: 24% higher peak single-core performance and 52% higher multi-core performance or throughput. TechRadar also reports a 142% graphics-rendering increase. Huawei supplied these figures, and TechRadar notes that they have not been independently verified. They do not measure the 9050 Pro against the Kirin 9000S.

Huawei’s separate 31% overall-performance claim for premium Mate 90 models is likewise not a direct, independently verified 9000S comparison. The different figures refer to different claims and comparison points, so they should not be combined into one estimate of how much faster the 9050 Pro is than the 9000S.

Phones identified with Kirin 9050 Pro
- Mate 90 Pro Max Premium Edition and Mate 90 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN: named in Huawei’s October 1, 2026 launch release. The release identifies different chips across the Mate 90 series, so do not assume every Mate 90 has a 9050 Pro.
- Mate XT2 Ultimate Design: identified by TechRadar as using the chip; this is secondary reporting.
Phones associated with Kirin 9000S
Jie Ge’s Knowledge Base associates the Kirin 9000S with Huawei Mate 60 family devices, including the Mate 60 Pro. Check the exact regional and model variant when identifying a handset: family-level association alone does not establish the chip in every version.

What is known about the 9050 Pro’s manufacturing process?
The cited sources do not establish a process node for the Kirin 9050 Pro. TechRadar reports that Huawei did not announce one. HiSilicon’s official Kirin 9000 product page lists a 5 nm manufacturing process for the Kirin 9000, but that is a different chip; it cannot be used to infer the process for either the 9050 Pro or the 9000S.
The Kirin 9000 is also a distinct product, not another name for the Kirin 9000S. HiSilicon lists its CPU as 1× Cortex-A77 at 3.13 GHz, 3× Cortex-A77 at 2.54 GHz, and 4× Cortex-A55 at 2.05 GHz, alongside a 24-core Mali-G78 GPU. Those official specifications apply to the Kirin 9000 only and are not a substitute for missing official 9050 Pro or 9000S specifications.
