The Evercade Nexus is a forthcoming, cartridge-based handheld from Blaze Entertainment. It is designed to run the wider Evercade cartridge library rather than arbitrary ROM files. Blaze says the system supports more than 80 released cartridges representing over 700 games, and the standard package includes a Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack containing Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie.
As of 13 October 2026, the Nexus has not launched. Tom’s Guide reported 30 October 2026 as the launch date. The figures and compatibility claims below come from the launch announcement and early hands-on coverage, not independent testing or a completed review.

What the Evercade Nexus is
The Nexus is a new handheld in the Evercade family, built around physical game cartridges. That distinction matters: your games remain tied to Evercade cartridges, so the device is intended as a way to play the existing Evercade catalog on a larger, more capable portable system rather than as a general-purpose emulator that accepts downloaded game files.

Blaze Entertainment positions the Nexus as an evolution of its cartridge hardware. The company says the design reflects requests from the Evercade community for features such as twin analogue sticks, a larger screen and wireless functions. Andrew Byatt, Blaze Entertainment’s CEO, described it as “the evolution of Evercade” in the company’s 31 March 2026 announcement.

Hardware specifications
| Feature | Evercade Nexus specification | What it means for players |
|---|---|---|
| Display | 5.89-inch IPS panel, 840×512 resolution, rated above 500 nits | A larger, brighter screen than earlier compact handheld designs; the announced brightness rating is useful for outdoor visibility, although real-world visibility depends on conditions. |
| Controls | Dual analogue sticks, D-pad, face buttons, rear bumpers and triggers | Supports games designed around analogue movement as well as traditional digital controls. |
| Battery | 5,000 mAh, rated for more than five hours | The runtime is a manufacturer rating, not an independently measured result; brightness, wireless use and game load can affect actual endurance. |
| Wireless and updates | Wi-Fi 6 and wireless-headphone support | Wi-Fi is intended for system or game updates, while compatible wireless headphones can be used without a cable. |
| Charging | USB-C | Uses the current common connector for charging. |

| Wireless multiplayer | EverSync local multiplayer | Two Nexus consoles can connect directly; one cartridge can be shared between the two systems. |
| Physical design | Textured rear grip | Designed to make longer sessions and the larger handheld body easier to hold. |
The announcement does not provide dimensions, weight, storage capacity, display refresh rate or a detailed operating-system specification. Those omissions do not change the central compatibility answer: Nexus is an Evercade cartridge player with expanded controls and connectivity.
Which games can the Evercade Nexus play?
Blaze’s headline compatibility claim is more than 80 released Evercade cartridges containing 700-plus games. That total covers the broader Evercade catalog at the time of the announcement, not 700 newly developed Nexus games. The cartridges span licensed publisher collections, retro compilations and other releases already made for Evercade hardware.
Named examples from the announcement
The announcement cites collections associated with Activision and Taito, Rare games, and franchise sets such as TOMB RAIDER, DUKE NUKEM and LEGACY OF KAIN. These names illustrate the range of the library, but they are not a complete title list. The announcement does not establish a definitive, title-by-title compatibility table.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBecause the catalog count is an announcement figure, treat “over 80 cartridges” and “700-plus games” as attributed totals rather than a guarantee that every cartridge is available in every country at launch. Regional licensing, distribution and stock can differ. A cartridge’s presence in the Evercade catalog also does not mean every game on it uses the Nexus’s analogue sticks; many older games were designed for a D-pad.
The included Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack
The standard Nexus bundle includes the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack cartridge. It contains:

- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Tooie
These are the original 64-bit-era platform games, presented for Nexus with announced enhancements. Blaze highlights widescreen support, a camera revised for twin-stick play, alternative non-analogue controls, unlockable material, and performance and graphical improvements.
Those changes make the pack a showcase for the Nexus’s control layout. The twin sticks can support camera and movement functions in a way that was not possible on the original controller, while the alternative control scheme is intended for players who prefer a traditional digital layout. The announcement does not specify every visual change, frame-rate target or unlockable item, so those details should not be assumed beyond the features explicitly listed.
Does Nexus play every Evercade cartridge?
The broad answer is that Nexus is designed for the Evercade cartridge ecosystem, and Blaze says it supports more than 80 released cartridges. The precise answer is more qualified because a complete compatibility database was not supplied with the announcement.
Before buying a specific older cartridge, check the current compatibility information for that release and your region. Do not assume that every title receives analogue-stick support, widescreen presentation or other Nexus-specific enhancements. The Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack has named upgrades; the announcement does not say that the same treatment applies to the rest of the library.
Nexus also is not described as a device for arbitrary files, third-party ROM images or unrelated cartridge formats. Its software model is the official Evercade cartridge library. If your collection is already made up of Evercade cartridges, the value proposition is straightforward: one newer handheld can consolidate those physical games in a system with a larger screen, modern controls and wireless features.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

How the Nexus features change the way you play
Dual analogue sticks
The pair of analogue sticks is the most consequential control change for games that need free movement and camera control. It is especially relevant to the included Banjo-Kazooie games, whose revised camera system is specifically described as being adapted for twin-stick play.
Analogue hardware does not automatically rewrite every older game. A title that was originally designed around a D-pad may continue to use digital input, and the announcement does not claim universal analogue remapping. The presence of a D-pad, face buttons, bumpers and triggers ensures that 2D platformers, arcade games and menu-driven titles still have familiar controls.
TATE mode for vertical games
TATE mode lets the screen be used vertically for games designed around a tall playfield. This can make shooters, puzzle games and other arcade conversions feel closer to their original cabinet orientation. The feature is a system mode; whether a particular cartridge supports or benefits from it depends on that game’s presentation.
EverSync local multiplayer
EverSync is a direct console-to-console wireless feature. It does not require internet access or a Wi-Fi network. Two Nexus consoles connect to each other, and one cartridge can be shared so both players play on their own screen.
A second Nexus is required. The feature therefore reduces the number of cartridges needed for a two-player session, but it does not turn one handheld into a two-screen multiplayer system. The announcement does not state the maximum player count beyond this two-console arrangement, nor does it list which cartridges support EverSync.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Wi-Fi 6 and wireless headphones
Wi-Fi 6 is listed for updates, so the system can receive software or game-related updates over a modern wireless connection. Wireless-headphone support removes the need for a wired audio connection. Blaze has not published a complete update policy, supported Bluetooth profiles or a requirement for constant connectivity; the announced EverSync mode specifically works without internet or Wi-Fi access.
What comes with the standard Nexus package?
The standard bundle includes the Nexus handheld and the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack cartridge. A carry case and screen protector kit are not standard inclusions. They are named as optional accessories.
The official EVA carry case is designed to hold up to six cartridges, according to Blaze’s announcement. That capacity is useful if you plan to carry the handheld with a small rotating selection rather than your entire collection. The announcement does not state whether the case includes room for cables or the console itself beyond its intended protective storage, so check the final product listing for the exact internal layout.

Release date and what is known before launch
The reported launch date is 30 October 2026. On the authoritative date of 13 October 2026, that date was still in the future, so the Nexus was pre-release.
Tom’s Guide published an early hands-on report on 8 October after two days of use. It reported compatibility with more than 80 cartridges and said a full review was still to come. That makes the article useful for confirming that pre-release hardware was being used, but it is not a substitute for a completed review or independent battery, display and performance testing.
No independent testing establishes the actual battery runtime, sustained performance, screen brightness in sunlight, wireless range or long-term durability. The most defensible numbers remain Blaze’s stated specifications: a 5.89-inch 840×512 IPS display rated above 500 nits and a 5,000 mAh battery rated for more than five hours.

Existing Evercade owners
Nexus is the clearest fit if you already own Evercade cartridges and want a single portable system with twin sticks, a larger display and wireless functions. Your purchase decision should focus on which cartridges you actually play and whether their controls benefit from the new layout.
Players starting a physical retro collection
The included Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack gives a new owner two substantial games immediately. The wider library then lets you build a collection in physical releases rather than relying on downloads. Check local cartridge availability before assuming that the entire announced catalog can be bought in your market.
Players seeking a general emulation handheld
Nexus is not presented as an open emulation device. Its appeal is the curated Evercade cartridge ecosystem, official releases and physical ownership. If you specifically need support for unrelated ROM files or other cartridge formats, the announced feature set does not promise it.
Pre-order and compatibility checklist
- Confirm the launch timing in your region; the reported date is 30 October 2026.
- Check whether the package is the standard Nexus or the limited 64 Edition.
- Verify that the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack is listed in the box contents.
- Make a list of your existing Evercade cartridges and confirm current compatibility information for any title that is essential to you.
- Do not assume that analogue controls, widescreen output or TATE mode are available for every cartridge.
- If you want EverSync multiplayer, budget for a second Nexus and verify that the games you intend to play support the feature.
- Add the EVA case or screen protector only if you need them; neither is part of the standard bundle.
Bottom line
The Evercade Nexus is a physical-cartridge handheld aimed at the existing Evercade ecosystem. Its announced strengths are broad catalog support of more than 80 cartridges and 700-plus games, a 5.89-inch bright IPS display, dual analogue sticks, TATE mode, Wi-Fi 6, wireless audio and direct EverSync multiplayer. Every standard unit includes the two-game Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack, whose widescreen presentation and revised camera are the clearest demonstration of the new hardware.
