Revolut reported £4.5 billion ($6.0 billion) of group revenue for the year ended 31 December 2025, but its published business-line figures are selected primary components, not a reconciliation that can simply be added together.
What Revolut is
Revolut presents itself as a broad financial platform for individuals and companies. A customer may use the app for a payment card, transfers, currency exchange, savings or other wealth products, investing, credit and related money-management tools. Businesses can use it for local and international payments, cash-flow management, treasury products, merchant acquiring and in-person card acceptance.

That breadth is important to understanding the business. Revolut is not just a prepaid-card provider or a currency-exchange app. Different products can generate different kinds of income, and the available products, prices and legal protections depend on the customer’s country and the Revolut entity providing the service.
Consumer services
Personal customers can choose among account tiers, including paid subscriptions, and use cards and transfers for everyday spending. Other services include foreign exchange and wealth-related products. Credit cards and personal loans add a lending component. The exact mix is market-specific, so a feature described in one country should not be assumed to be available worldwide.

Business services
Revolut Business serves companies that need domestic and cross-border payments, cash-flow tools and treasury services. Its platform also includes merchant acquiring for online and physical transactions. Revolut’s 2025 annual-report material names Revolut Terminal, a physical point-of-sale device connected to Revolut Business accounts. That product fits the merchant-services side of the model, alongside software and payment processing.
How the money-making model works
Revolut earns revenue when customers pay for upgraded plans or use services that produce fees or financial income. In broad terms, the model has six connected engines:
- Subscriptions: recurring turnover from paid personal plans and related membership services.
- Card payments: income associated with customers using Revolut cards in payment transactions.
- Wealth: revenue from wealth and investing activity.
- Foreign exchange: income generated when customers exchange currencies.
- Interest income: income related to lending and customer balances, subject to the accounting treatment of the relevant products.
- Business payments: income from company accounts, payment processing, merchant acquiring and associated tools.
The public results identify these categories and report their totals, but they do not provide a complete transaction-level price list. They do not, for example, establish one universal card-swipe interchange amount, a single FX spread for every currency and customer, a standard trading commission or a group-wide net-interest margin. Those mechanics vary by product, market and customer plan.
What Revolut reported for 2025
In its 24 March 2026 results announcement covering the year ended 31 December 2025, Revolut reported £4.5 billion ($6.0 billion) in group revenue, 46% higher than the previous year. It reported £1.7 billion ($2.3 billion) in profit before tax, up 57% year over year. The company said 11 product lines each generated more than £100 million of annual revenue.
The table below shows the main business-line figures Revolut disclosed. The dollar amounts are the company’s illustrative conversions, while pounds sterling are the reporting currency.

| Revenue line | FY2025 amount | Year-over-year change | What the disclosure indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interest income | £974m ($1.3bn) | 23% increase | Income associated with lending and customer balances; detailed margins and allocation are not stated. |
| Card Payments | £1.0bn ($1.3bn) | 45% increase | Revenue connected to card payment activity; the announcement does not give a universal per-transaction fee. |
| Subscriptions turnover | £708m ($936m) | 67% increase | Turnover from paid plans and subscription services. |
| Wealth | £663m ($876m) | 31% increase | Revenue from wealth-related products and activity; product-level charges are not itemised. |
| Foreign exchange | £606m ($800m) | 43% increase | Income from currency-exchange activity; the figures do not specify one spread for all users. |
These are selected primary revenue components, not five numbers that should be summed to recreate £4.5 billion. Group reporting includes other lines, eliminations and accounting items. Revenue is income before expenses; the £1.7 billion profit-before-tax figure is what remained after the company’s reported costs and other items, before tax.
Each major revenue stream explained
1. Paid subscriptions
Subscriptions provide recurring revenue from customers who choose paid personal plans instead of relying only on a free tier. A paid plan may bundle higher limits, additional services or other account benefits, but the precise bundle and price depend on the market and plan available there.

Revolut reported £708 million ($936 million) of subscriptions turnover for FY2025, up 67% year over year. That growth can come from more subscribers, movement into higher-priced tiers, changes in plan mix or combinations of those factors; the reported total does not separate those drivers. Subscription income is comparatively easy to understand because it is tied to a stated plan price, but it is only one part of the group’s earnings.
2. Card payments
When customers use Revolut cards, the transaction passes through card-network and merchant-payment infrastructure. Revolut reported £1.0 billion ($1.3 billion) of Card Payments revenue in 2025, up 45% year over year.
The category shows that spending activity itself is economically important to Revolut. However, the published results do not disclose a single fee collected on every purchase. Card-payment revenue can reflect the economics of payment processing and related arrangements, which differ by geography, card type, merchant and regulatory regime. It would therefore be inaccurate to multiply a guessed “fee per swipe” by a customer’s spending and present that as Revolut’s actual formula.
Rank #3
3. Wealth and investing
Revolut groups wealth-related activity into a material revenue line. It reported £663 million ($876 million) in Wealth revenue for FY2025, a 31% year-over-year increase.
That label covers a category rather than one universally identical product. Depending on the customer’s country, it may include investing or other wealth services. The announcement does not provide a complete schedule of trading charges, custody economics or product-by-product margins, so the total should be read as reported category revenue rather than evidence of one standard commission.
4. Foreign exchange
Currency conversion is another significant engine. Revolut reported £606 million ($800 million) of FX revenue in 2025, up 43% year over year. Customers may exchange currencies for travel, spending, transfers or business purposes, while Revolut records income from the exchange activity under its accounting policies.
There is no single FX price that applies to every customer and currency pair. Plan allowances, timing, market conditions, supported currencies and local rules can affect what a customer pays or what Revolut earns. The reported £606 million does not reveal a group-wide average spread, and it should not be used to infer one.
5. Interest income and lending
Interest income was Revolut’s largest named FY2025 line in the supplied results: £974 million ($1.3 billion), up 23% year over year. Interest-related income connects the platform’s lending products and customer balances to the wider banking and financial-services model.

Revolut also reported a customer lending portfolio of £2.2 billion ($2.9 billion), up 120% year over year. It said the portfolio consisted primarily of unsecured personal loans and credit cards, plus an early mortgage portfolio. A larger loan book can create more interest revenue, but it also brings credit risk, funding costs, impairment charges and regulatory requirements. The reported portfolio balance is not itself revenue, and it should not be confused with the £974 million interest-income figure.
The public summary does not provide a group-wide net-interest margin or a product-level split showing exactly how much interest came from each type of loan or balance. Any precise calculation beyond the reported totals would be an estimate rather than a disclosed Revolut figure.
6. Business payments and merchant acquiring
Business services extend the same multi-product strategy beyond consumers. Revolut said its Business segment contributed 16% of total income in 2025, while business transaction volume reached $365 billion (£277 billion). Transaction volume is the value moving through the platform, not the amount Revolut keeps as revenue.
The annual-report description includes local and global payments, cash-flow management, treasury products and merchant acquiring for online and in-person channels. Merchant acquiring lets a business accept card payments; related revenue may come from processing and service arrangements rather than from a simple account subscription alone. Revolut Terminal is the named physical point-of-sale device associated with this offering.

Why Revolut uses a multi-engine model
A single financial product can be exposed to one market, regulation or customer behavior. Revolut’s stated strategy is to spread income across subscriptions, payments, FX, wealth, lending and business services. Chief financial officer Victor Stinga described the company’s 11 product lines above £100 million as providing “structural resilience to navigate any environment.” That is Revolut’s own characterization, not an independent assessment.
From a business perspective, the products can reinforce one another: a customer who joins for a card may later use currency exchange, a paid plan, wealth tools or credit. A business that starts with an account may add payment acceptance or treasury services. Cross-use can raise the value of an existing customer relationship without requiring a separate customer for every revenue line. The disclosed figures show diversification, but they do not prove how much revenue is generated by the same customer across multiple products.
Is Revolut a bank?
There is no single worldwide answer because Revolut operates through different entities and licenses. Its products and legal protections depend on the customer’s residence and the entity holding or providing the service.
In the United Kingdom, Revolut Bank UK Ltd received approval to exit mobilisation and launch as a bank in March 2026. Revolut said eligible deposits at that UK bank would be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), with onboarding and transfers of existing customers taking place in phases.
That announcement applies to the UK entity and eligible deposits covered under the relevant rules. It does not mean that every Revolut customer worldwide has a UK bank account or FSCS protection. Before relying on a protection scheme, a customer should check the legal entity named in the app or account documentation, the product type and the rules in the country of residence.
What customers should understand about the numbers
- Revenue is not profit. The £4.5 billion group-revenue figure measures income, while £1.7 billion is profit before tax after reported expenses and other items.
- Portfolio value is not income. The £2.2 billion lending portfolio describes outstanding lending, not the interest earned during the year.
- Transaction volume is not Revolut’s take. The $365 billion Business volume measures payments processed, whereas revenue is the smaller amount recorded under the applicable arrangements.
- Availability is local. Plans, exchange allowances, wealth products, credit and deposit protections can differ by country and entity.
- Company-reported figures need context. The FY2025 totals come from Revolut’s own results and annual-report materials. They are useful for understanding the model, but they do not replace a full independent breakdown of every fee or margin.
Bottom line
Revolut makes money by combining recurring subscriptions with usage-based financial services. In FY2025, its largest named streams included £974 million of interest income, £1.0 billion of Card Payments revenue, £708 million from subscriptions, £663 million from Wealth and £606 million from FX. Business payments and merchant acquiring add another layer, while lending and customer balances connect the platform to interest income.
The central point is diversification: Revolut is building a financial-services group with several consumer and business revenue engines, not relying on one card fee or one currency-exchange spread. The exact economics depend on the customer’s product, country and Revolut entity, and the company’s published category totals should not be treated as a complete fee-by-fee reconciliation.
