orianna.exe is not a known Windows component. The strongest exact-match evidence links that filename to an old LeagueSharp “Orianna” champion script for League of Legends, distributed outside official Windows and game channels. That history does not prove that every file with the name is malware, but an unexplained copy should be treated as untrusted. Do not run it or download a replacement from a random site. First identify its location, publisher, signature, origin and scan results; then remove the associated software and run Microsoft Defender’s full and offline scans.
What orianna.exe appears to be
A historical GitHub project named “Orianna – Master of clockwork” offered an Orianna.exe LeagueSharp champion assembly. Its documented functions included automated combos and harassment, prediction casting, farming, jungle farming and automated delivery of Orianna’s ball in League of Legends. A 2014 LeagueSharp forum thread also listed Orianna.exe among many champion scripts in a third-party download package.

Those references establish a historical association, not a current publisher, supported release or guarantee about a file you have today. No evidence identifies orianna.exe as a Microsoft Windows file, a current Riot Games component or a supported Windows utility. The filename is therefore not an authenticity signal. Two completely different files can have the same name.

Microsoft explains that uncommon or unknown software presents more risk for typical users. Software may also be classified as potentially unwanted when it hides its presence, installs without clear consent, changes settings without your control or makes misleading claims. A historical game-automation script downloaded from an unofficial package fits the pattern of software that deserves scrutiny, even though that fact alone does not prove malicious behavior.

Leave an unexplained copy disabled while you investigate. Do not add a Defender exclusion simply because a scan is clean: a clean result is useful evidence, not proof that an unknown executable is trustworthy.

- “orianna.exe has stopped working.” The script may be incompatible with the current game, Windows, its dependencies or the launcher that called it. It may also have been damaged or blocked.
- “orianna.exe is missing.” Windows may be trying to start a program after Defender quarantined the executable, after an uninstall removed it, or after someone deleted it manually.
- A startup popup or repeated prompt. A leftover startup reference can keep calling a file that no longer exists, or an unwanted program may be attempting to relaunch it.
- A blocked or quarantined notification. Windows Security may have prevented execution because its reputation or behavior met a security rule. Check Protection history before taking any action.
- Game crashes after installing an unofficial script. Automation software can be incompatible with a changing game client. The historical references do not establish a currently supported version.
Before you touch the file
- Do not launch it. Do not double-click an unexplained copy, and do not download a replacement executable from a mirror, file-sharing page or forum attachment.
- Preserve evidence if needed. If a security professional or vendor must examine it, keep the original file in place but do not execute it. You can also copy it to removable storage without opening it.
- Disconnect only when appropriate. If the computer is showing suspicious behavior such as repeated unknown launches or security settings changing without permission, disconnect it from the network while you begin the scan process. Do not use a disconnected machine to download updates; obtain them from a known-clean device if necessary.
- Record the context. Write down the full path, file size, creation date, displayed publisher, signature status and the application that appears to launch it.
How to identify the copy on your PC
Find the complete path
If an error dialog names the file, use its details or choose the option that opens the file location, if available. In File Explorer, right-click the executable, select Properties and record the Location. Do not assume that a file in a folder called Windows or System32 is genuine; names and folders can be imitated.
Check metadata and the digital signature
In Properties, note the file size, creation and modification dates, and the Details tab. On Digital Signatures, select a signature and choose Details to verify that Windows reports it as valid and that the signer matches the software you intended to install. An unsigned file is not automatically malware, but an unexpected or invalid signature is a reason not to run it.
Calculate a hash for comparison
A hash identifies the exact bytes of your copy. Open Windows PowerShell and run the following command, replacing the path with the one you recorded:

Check what starts it
Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc, select Startup apps and look for an entry that points to orianna.exe or the associated program. Also inspect the publisher column and the file location. Disable an unexplained startup entry rather than trying to repair the executable. If a scheduled task or launcher repeatedly invokes it, identify the parent application first and remove that application through Windows’ normal uninstall process.
Safe manual removal and cleanup
1. Uninstall the associated application
Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps in Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features in Windows 10. Sort the list by install date and look for the program installed when orianna.exe first appeared, especially an unofficial LeagueSharp or game-automation package. Select it and choose Uninstall. Remove software you do not need instead of deleting only one executable from its folder.
If you cannot identify a parent application, do not guess. Keep the file disabled, continue with the scans below and submit it for analysis if necessary.
2. Update Windows Security
Open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection. Under Virus & threat protection updates, choose Check for updates and allow the security intelligence update to finish. An up-to-date engine and signatures improve the value of the following scans.

3. Run a full Microsoft Defender scan
- In Windows Security > Virus & threat protection, select Scan options.
- Choose Full scan, then select Scan now.
- Leave the computer powered on until the scan completes. Review every detection in Protection history.
- For a detected orianna.exe, choose Quarantine or Remove as offered by Windows Security. Do not choose to allow the file merely to make an error disappear.
4. Run Microsoft Defender Offline if the problem persists
If the file returns, a process prevents removal, or suspicious startup behavior continues, return to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options and select Microsoft Defender Antivirus (offline scan). Save open work and follow the restart prompt. Windows starts a special scanning environment before the normal desktop loads, which can make it harder for persistent software to hide. Review the result in Protection history after Windows starts again.
5. Enable reputation-based protection
Go to Windows Security > App & browser control > Reputation-based protection settings. Turn on blocking for potentially unwanted apps and enable the options for checking apps and files and blocking potentially unwanted downloads when those controls are available in your edition. These settings help prevent another unexplained package from being installed, but they do not replace antivirus scanning.
6. Submit the file when you need a vendor decision
If no threat is detected but the file remains unexplained, use Microsoft’s file-submission process to request analysis or report a possible false positive. Include the SHA-256 hash, path, provenance and the exact Defender result. Keep the file disabled while waiting; do not create an exclusion to continue using it.
7. Reinstall only a verified parent application
If you have identified a legitimate application that genuinely needs a missing component, obtain that application from its official publisher or the Microsoft Store. Microsoft warns against third-party download sites. Reinstalling an official parent application is safer than downloading a standalone orianna.exe from an unverified mirror. The historical LeagueSharp references do not establish a current supported source for this script, so do not treat them as a recommendation to reinstall it.

“orianna.exe has stopped working”
- Close the game or launcher that reports the crash.
- Do not repeatedly relaunch the executable to test it.
- Uninstall the associated unofficial tool, then run the Defender full scan and, if needed, the offline scan.
- If the parent game itself is legitimate and still fails, use its official repair or reinstall procedure rather than replacing orianna.exe from a download site.
“The program can’t start because orianna.exe is missing”
This usually means a startup entry or parent application still expects a file that was deleted or quarantined. Remove the obsolete application from Installed apps and disable its Startup apps entry. If a legitimate application was damaged, reinstall that application from its official source. Do not restore a quarantined file until its origin and signature are established.
A popup appears every time Windows starts
Use Task Manager’s Startup apps list to disable the matching entry, then uninstall its parent program. If the prompt continues, note the exact command or path shown in the message and submit the file for analysis. Repeatedly deleting the executable without removing the launcher can leave the error in place.
Windows Security quarantined the file
Open Protection history and read the detection name, affected path and action taken. Keep the item quarantined unless you can independently verify that it belongs to software you knowingly installed and that the detection is a false positive. If you believe it was flagged incorrectly, submit it to Microsoft instead of disabling protection.

The historical file was a third-party automation script, not an identified Windows dependency. Remove the script and restore the game through its official launcher or installer. If the official game still fails, use its own repair instructions and contact its publisher; do not restore an unsupported script simply to suppress an error.
