Who is Mina, and what is Tenebrous Isle?
Mina is both an adventurer and an inventor. She returns to Tenebrous Isle after being away for years, bringing the specialized skills of a Hollower: she can move beneath the ground, emerge in attacks, and use subterranean routes to reach places ordinary movement cannot.
Before the crisis, Baron Lionel commissioned Mina to construct the island’s Spark Generators. These radiant towers supplied industry, peace, and prosperity. The generators are now malfunctioning, and an evil is gathering near Ossex, the central area that remains fully powered.
The main story asks Mina to reach and restore six failing Spark Generators. Each generator is located away from Ossex and protected by a boss. The developer describes route choices with different difficulty levels or rewards, so the island is designed to support decisions about where to go next rather than forcing one fixed sequence.
Those choices are not described as equipment checks. Yacht Club Games says special equipment and Trinkets are not required to advance the main quest. A reward can make a route more comfortable or support a particular build, but the story does not require you to locate one specific item before continuing.

How does burrowing work?
Burrowing is Mina the Hollower’s central movement verb. The official description groups it with leaping and dodging, and says Mina can burrow through the ground both to battle monsters and to navigate the world. In practical terms, it is not merely a fast-travel animation between rooms: it is part of how you avoid danger, approach enemies, and investigate the island’s connected spaces.
- Evade: Going underground gives Mina a way to avoid hazards and reposition when an enemy attack controls the surface.
- Approach: Burrowing can let you close distance or choose when to emerge instead of walking directly into an attack.
- Explore: Underground movement is also a navigation tool, helping Mina cross sections of the island and reach routes that are not obvious from the surface.
The supplied descriptions do not establish exact invulnerability timing, distance limits, or a universal strategy for every enemy. Treat burrowing as a flexible movement and combat system whose value depends on the encounter and terrain, rather than as a single button that solves every hazard.
What are Mina’s weapons?
Mina’s signature weapon is the Nightstar, but the game lets you choose among weapons with different movesets. What are Sidearms, and how do Joules work?
Sidearms are separate tools that provide tactical actions alongside Mina’s main weapon. They consume Joules, so they are limited-use resources rather than attacks you can perform without restriction. Sidearms are found in the field and are lost when Mina dies, making them useful for the current expedition but not guaranteed to survive a failed run.

How does progression and build-making work?
Enemies and the world provide Bones, which function as both currency and a level-up resource. After collecting enough, Mina can improve one of several categories or save the Bones for later. Carrying a large amount creates risk because dying while holding many Bones can make you lose them.

Ossex serves as the island’s central powered area, while the failing generators lie farther out. The live Yacht Club Games game page lists May 29, 2026 as the release date, identifies the game as one-player, and provides store links for Yacht Club Games, Steam, Humble, GOG, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Platform information has changed across announcements. The February 2026 launch announcement named Switch 2, Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Steam for the planned launch. Because those lists do not match exactly, do not assume that every edition is available on every platform or in every region.
