loilogamerecorder.exe cannot currently be confirmed as a legitimate Logitech or Windows file. The exact filename does not appear on the official Logitech recording and support material reviewed for this guide. Logitech does document G HUB Replay, a feature that records gameplay, finds highlights and exports clips, but a similar name does not prove that loilogamerecorder.exe belongs to it. Treat the process as unverified until you check its full path, digital signature, behavior and scan results. Do not delete it solely because of its name.

What loilogamerecorder.exe is—and what is not known

An executable’s filename is only a label. Windows can run a file from any folder, and malware can use a name that resembles a trusted product. In this case, no authoritative Logitech or Microsoft result identified the exact string loilogamerecorder.exe, supplied a known hash, named an associated product or documented a standard installation path. That means its identity remains unresolved on the basis of the filename alone.

There is a legitimate Logitech recording context that may explain why the name looks familiar. Logitech describes G HUB Replay as software that automatically records gameplay, scans sessions for highlights and assembles clips for export and sharing. The documentation found for that feature does not name loilogamerecorder.exe. Do not treat the resemblance as proof that the file is part of G HUB.

The practical question is therefore not “does the name sound like Logitech?” It is “where did this file come from, who signed it, what does it do, and what does a current security scan report?” Those checks determine whether you should repair a Logitech installation, reduce recording load, quarantine a suspicious file or obtain more diagnostic help.

Is loilogamerecorder.exe safe?

It is neither confirmed safe nor confirmed malicious from the available evidence. A file installed under a verified Logitech program directory, carrying a valid Logitech signature and behaving as a recorder is materially different from an unsigned copy in a temporary, download or user-profile folder. Conversely, a familiar-looking name in an unexpected location, with an invalid signature or unexplained keystroke and screenshot activity, deserves security treatment.

Check More consistent with a legitimate installation Reason for caution
File provenance Installed with a Logitech product from Logitech’s official support or download portal Arrived from an unverified download, email attachment, crack, temporary folder or an unknown installer
Digital signature A valid signature whose publisher matches the expected Logitech component No signature, an invalid signature or a signer unrelated to the claimed product
Behavior Starts with a Logitech recording feature and handles gameplay capture Unexpected keystroke logging, screenshots, network activity or persistence unrelated to recording
Trigger Appears when the Logitech application or a game starts Runs at startup without a known Logitech installation or appears after an unrelated download
Repair path Official Logitech update or reinstall resolves the error Security software detects it, or the file returns after removal

These are indicators, not a verdict. Even a file in a plausible folder should be scanned, and an unsigned file is not automatically malware. Preserve the evidence before changing or deleting anything.

First response when Windows reports an error

  1. Record the exact message. Copy the complete dialog text, error code, application name and time. “The application was unable to start” is not enough to identify a component.
  2. Do not click a random download or DLL-fix site. Replacing an unknown executable with a similarly named file can make the situation less safe and can destroy evidence.
  3. Pause the process if it is consuming resources. Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc, locate the process, and use Open file location before ending it. Ending a process is a temporary measure; it does not establish whether the file is safe.
  4. Save the location and metadata. Note the complete path, file size, modified date, product description, company name and version shown in Properties. If a security review may be needed, preserve a cryptographic hash as well.

If the process is actively interfering with Windows, disconnect from networks you do not need, avoid signing in to sensitive services on that machine and continue with the scan and verification steps below.

How to inspect the file manually

Find the actual path

In Task Manager, right-click the process and choose Open file location. If the process has already exited, use Task Manager’s Details tab while the error is occurring, or search only the path you recorded. A name in a Logitech program folder is evidence of provenance, not proof of authenticity; a copy in %Temp%, a browser-download folder or an unfamiliar profile directory warrants extra scrutiny.

Check Properties and the publisher

Right-click the file, select Properties, and review the General and Details tabs. Compare the product name, company, file description and version with the Logitech application you knowingly installed. In Digital Signatures, select a signature and choose Details. Windows should report whether the signature is valid and identify the signer. An absent, invalid or unrelated signature increases suspicion; it does not, by itself, prove maliciousness.

Capture a hash for support or security review

A hash lets another person or a security service refer to the exact copy you examined. In PowerShell, change the quoted path to the one you recorded:

Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 "C:pathtoloilogamerecorder.exe"

Keep the result with the path, signer and error text. Do not upload a potentially sensitive file to an unknown website merely to obtain an opinion.

Scan Windows before attempting a reinstall

Run an up-to-date full-system scan with your current security software. Microsoft’s published guidance for a different detection, MonitoringTool:Win32/Logol2, recommends a full-system scan; that guidance is a safety procedure, not identification of loilogamerecorder.exe. The Microsoft entry describes logol2.exe as software that logs keystrokes and takes desktop screenshots, but it does not say that logol2.exe and loilogamerecorder.exe are the same file.

  1. Update the security product’s definitions and engine.
  2. Start a Full scan, not only a quick scan.
  3. Allow detected items to be quarantined according to the product’s instructions.
  4. Restart Windows if requested, then run another scan if the detection returns.
  5. Do not restore or whitelist the executable until its publisher, path and origin have been confirmed.

If malware is detected, quarantine it through the security product, restart and review startup entries. Avoid manually copying the file back or adding an exclusion just to suppress the error.

Repair a legitimate Logitech installation

Only follow this branch after the path and signature point to a Logitech component and the security scan is clean. Logitech provides product support, downloads and product-specific assistance through its official support portal. Use that portal rather than a third-party driver or executable site.

Update from the official source

Open the Logitech support page for the device or software you actually use, download the current package offered for your Windows edition and install it over the existing installation. Close games and other recording software first. Restart Windows after the update and check whether the same error, path and version recur.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Perform a clean reinstall

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Find the Logitech application associated with recording, select the three-dot menu and choose Uninstall.
  3. Restart Windows.
  4. Return to Logitech’s official support/download portal and install the package for your product.
  5. Restart again, launch the Logitech application and test recording with a short clip.

Do not remove an executable from an unknown directory and assume that the Logitech installation has been repaired. If the file remains after uninstalling the known Logitech software, record its new path and scan again instead of restoring it manually.

Reduce recording-related crashes and frame drops

Logitech’s troubleshooting guidance says recording warnings can appear when video is at risk of lagging or dropping frames because processing power is insufficient. Its first checks are simple and reversible:

  • Close browsers, launchers, overlays and other applications that are not needed for the recording session.
  • Connect a laptop to AC power rather than relying on its battery profile.
  • Lower the recording resolution and frames-per-second setting, then test again.
  • Compare the computer with the recommended specifications for the Logitech product and the game or capture workload.

Change one setting at a time and note the result. If lowering resolution or FPS stops the crash, the symptom is consistent with a resource limit, but it still does not establish what loilogamerecorder.exe is. A process that continues to run from an unverified path should remain under security review.

Check startup and update triggers

Startup entries

In Task Manager, open Startup apps and look for an entry that launches the recorder. Disable only an entry you can tie to the verified Logitech installation; disabling an unknown item is not a substitute for scanning. Restart and observe whether the error disappears. If it does, re-enable known entries one at a time to identify the trigger.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Recent updates or game launches

Note whether the message appears immediately after a Logitech update, Windows update, game launch or change of recording settings. A reproducible trigger is useful to Logitech support. If a known Logitech update introduced the issue, use the official support channel for the product rather than downloading an older executable from an unofficial archive.

Use Windows diagnostics when the error persists

Event Viewer

Open Event Viewer and choose Windows Logs > Application. Look at the error time and record the faulting application name, faulting module, exception code and path. These details are more useful than the filename alone. Do not infer that a module named in the event is malicious; verify its path and signature in the same way.

System file checks

If Windows components are also reporting errors, run the built-in System File Checker from an elevated Command Prompt:

sfc /scannow

Restart after it completes. This checks protected Windows files; it does not authenticate or identify loilogamerecorder.exe. If the executable remains unverified, keep the security branch separate from general Windows repair.

Collect a support-ready report

  • Exact error text and any numeric code
  • Windows edition and version
  • Complete file path and SHA-256 hash
  • Properties details and digital-signature result
  • Security-scan result
  • What action triggers the error: startup, game launch, recording or update
  • Event Viewer’s faulting module and exception code

Send this information to Logitech if the verified product fails, or to your security provider if the signer or behavior is suspicious. Without these local details, no authoritative source can identify the component from the filename alone.

Should you delete loilogamerecorder.exe?

Do not delete it before recording its path, signer, hash and scan result. If a current security product detects it, quarantine it through that product and follow its remediation instructions. If it is a valid, signed component inside a Logitech installation, deleting it manually can break the application; update or reinstall the relevant product instead. If it is unsigned or unrelated, located outside the expected installation and unsupported by any software you recognize, preserve the evidence and obtain a security assessment before removal.

After quarantine or uninstall, check Task Manager and Startup apps after a restart. A file that reappears may be recreated by another startup item or installer, so investigate the parent program rather than repeatedly deleting copies.

What the available evidence does—and does not—show

Question What can be stated What remains unresolved
Is it an official Logitech file? The exact filename is absent from the official Logitech recording and support pages reviewed. No confirmed product association, standard path, signer or hash is available.
Is it G HUB Replay? G HUB Replay is a documented Logitech gameplay recorder. Name similarity does not establish that this executable belongs to G HUB Replay.
Is it a virus? A suspicious path, invalid signature, unexpected behavior or a detection requires caution. No prevalence figure, malware classification or direct identification specific to this filename is established.
Why does it crash? Recording can warn or fail when processing resources are insufficient; Logitech recommends closing apps, using AC power and lowering resolution/FPS. The exact cause cannot be assigned without the local error, path, version and event details.

Optional shortcut after the manual checks

If you want help with the surrounding Windows cleanup and diagnostics after checking the file yourself, Outbyte PC Repair is an optional shortcut. It can address more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, adjust settings that affect CPU, RAM and disk load, clean temporary and cache files, provide privacy and vulnerability checks, and include tools such as a real-time boost, file shredder and app-crash log. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7; a free trial is available by category for at least two days, followed by a subscription. It complements an antivirus and does not replace one, results vary, and no tool repairs every crash.

When to stop troubleshooting locally

Stop experimenting and seek assistance when the file is detected repeatedly, returns after quarantine, has an invalid or unrelated signature, or performs behavior unrelated to recording. Also escalate when the machine shows multiple unexplained startup entries, account-security warnings or continuing crashes after a verified Logitech reinstall and resource reduction. Provide the path, hash, signer, scan result, event details and exact message so the responder can identify the component without guessing.
