Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →IntelCheck.exe is not a confirmed Windows system file. Software inventories associate that filename with Digiarty VideoProc and VideoProc Converter, DearMob 5KPlayer, and an older Intel driver-identification utility. One copy can therefore be legitimate while another is suspicious. Check the exact file path, publisher signature, hash and Microsoft Defender result before deciding whether to keep, repair or remove it.
What intelcheck.exe is—and why the filename is ambiguous
Windows does not have a generally documented, current system component named IntelCheck.exe. The name has been reused by unrelated software, so the filename alone cannot establish ownership or safety.

| Known association | What the inventory records | Typical location or context |
|---|---|---|
| VideoProc 3.5 by Digiarty | IntelCheck.exe, listed at 182.90 KB |
C:Program Files (x86)DigiartyVideoProc |
| VideoProc Converter 5.7 | IntelCheck.exe, listed at 184.64 KB |
Inside that product’s installation directory |
| 5KPlayer 6.5 by DearMob | IntelCheck.exe, listed at 190.08 KB |
C:Program Files (x86)DearMob5KPlayer |
| Older Intel driver-identification utility | An Intel Community report describes an “intelcheck.exe is not a valid 32 bit app” message | Historical browser-based driver-identification context |
The listed file sizes are snapshots for those particular product versions, not a universal signature for every copy. A newer or repackaged installation may differ. The old Intel report also does not show that a current Intel Windows component should be downloaded.
Is intelcheck.exe safe?
Safety is specific to the file on your computer. A copy located inside the expected, signed directory of VideoProc, VideoProc Converter or 5KPlayer is consistent with the software inventories above. A copy in %TEMP%, an unfamiliar user-profile folder, a random system directory or an unrelated program directory deserves investigation.

- Path: Does the complete path belong to a program you intentionally installed?
- Publisher: Does the file have a valid digital signature from the expected software publisher?
- Integrity: Does its hash remain stable if you compare it after reinstalling the parent application?
- Detection: Does Microsoft Defender report a threat when scanning the exact file?
- Behavior: Does it appear only when its parent application starts, or does it launch unexpectedly and repeatedly?
Microsoft says real-time protection continuously monitors a device by scanning files and processes that are opened or downloaded. Use that protection to examine the specific file. Do not create a Defender exclusion merely to silence an alert: Microsoft warns that exclusions can leave the device vulnerable. A missing or invalid signature is a reason to quarantine and investigate, but it is not, by itself, proof that the file is malware.
Identify the copy on your PC before changing it
- Open the file’s location. In Task Manager, right-click the
IntelCheck.exeprocess and choose Open file location. If an error dialog names the file, use its details to locate the executable. Copy the complete path somewhere safe. - Record the metadata. In File Explorer, right-click the file, choose Properties, and note the size, modified date, product name, company and file version. Compare the result with the parent application you recognize; do not treat the inventory sizes as a pass/fail test.
- Inspect the signature. Open Properties and select Digital Signatures. Select the listed signer, choose Details, and confirm that Windows reports the signature as valid. An absent, invalid or unexpected signer requires extra caution.
- Scan the exact file. Update Defender definitions first through Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection updates > Check for updates. Then right-click the executable and choose the Microsoft Defender scan option. Open the detection details and note whether Defender quarantined, allowed or found nothing.
- Optionally record a hash. In PowerShell, run
Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 "C:fullpathintelcheck.exe", replacing the path with the one you recorded. A hash is useful when comparing the same installer or a freshly installed copy; it does not prove that a file is safe without a trusted reference. - Identify the parent. Look for VideoProc, VideoProc Converter, 5KPlayer or Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA). If none is installed, do not download a standalone replacement just because the filename appears in an error.
Choose the remedy that matches what you found
| Finding | Best next action | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Expected VideoProc, VideoProc Converter or 5KPlayer path; no Defender detection | Repair, update or reinstall the parent application from its official publisher source | The executable is a component; replacing only it can create version mismatches |
| Intel DSA is installed and the error appears during a driver scan | Follow the Intel DSA service, update, browser and reinstall sequence below | This is an application-specific scan problem rather than evidence of a Windows system file failure |
| Unexpected path, invalid signature or Defender detection | Quarantine with Defender, disconnect only if your security guidance requires it, and investigate the parent installer | Deleting or allowing the file without understanding its origin can hide the real problem |
| File is orphaned after an application was removed | Uninstall the parent application completely, reboot, then remove only verified leftovers | Manual deletion while software is running can break an otherwise repairable installation |
| System-wide crashes or corruption | Use Windows updates, malware checks, vendor drivers and DISM/SFC | A broader Windows fault needs system repair, not a replacement executable |
Fix an error when launching VideoProc or 5KPlayer
1. Repair or update the parent application
Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features on older Windows editions), select VideoProc, VideoProc Converter or 5KPlayer, and use the available repair, modify or update option. If that product does not expose a repair command, download its current installer from the publisher you originally chose and run it over the existing installation.
2. Reinstall instead of swapping one executable
If repair does not remove the error, uninstall the parent application from Windows, restart the PC, and install a fresh package from its official source. Do not obtain an isolated intelcheck.exe from a file-sharing or “DLL download” site. The inventories show that the executable is bundled with particular product versions; a file from another release can be incompatible with the rest of the program.

3. Remove an unused application safely
If you no longer use the program, uninstall it first. Reboot before checking the old directory. Delete only folders that you can positively identify as leftovers from that uninstalled product, and leave unrelated files alone. If uninstalling fails, use Windows’ installed-app repair or uninstall troubleshooting rather than deleting the executable while the application is active.
Fix an Intel Driver & Support Assistant error
An error mentioning Intel Driver & Support Assistant (DSA) calls for Intel-specific service and browser checks, not a random replacement executable.
- Press
Win + R, enterservices.msc, and press Enter. - Find Intel DSA Service and Intel DSA Updater. Confirm that each service is running. If either is stopped, right-click it, choose Start; if it is already running, choose Restart.
- Install pending Windows updates through Settings > Windows Update, restart, and run the DSA scan again.
- If the scan still fails, clear browser interference: close extra tabs and extensions, try a supported browser, and retry the scan in that browser.
- Uninstall Intel DSA from Settings > Apps > Installed apps, restart Windows, and install the latest DSA package from Intel’s official support site. Do not use the old forum report as a source for a replacement EXE.
If DSA itself is not installed, remove references to it from your troubleshooting plan. An IntelCheck.exe file belonging to VideoProc or 5KPlayer has a different repair path.

Fix “intelcheck.exe is not a valid 32-bit application”
This loader message is historical but still useful diagnostically. It can indicate an obsolete utility, a binary built for a different architecture, a corrupted download or a mismatched file from another software release.
- Use the file location and Properties information to identify the parent program.
- Check whether the parent program is a current 32-bit or 64-bit installation and whether the executable came from that same package.
- Scan the file with Defender and review the result before attempting to run it again.
- Repair or reinstall the parent application using its official installer. Do not replace only
IntelCheck.exe. - If the error names an obsolete Intel utility, stop using that old package and obtain a current, supported Intel application instead.
The wording alone cannot distinguish corruption from malware or an architecture mismatch. The path, signature, parent application and scan result have to be considered together.
When intelcheck.exe appears during a wider Windows problem
If the executable error occurs alongside blue screens, repeated freezes, damaged system components or other stop errors, treat it as one symptom rather than the root cause. Microsoft’s stop-error guidance calls for installing Windows and firmware updates, checking available disk space, running malware detection and obtaining updated drivers from the relevant hardware or software vendor. In Microsoft’s 2026 guidance, analysis of its stop errors attributed 70% of analyzed cases to third-party driver code; that statistic concerns the analyzed stop-error set, not IntelCheck.exe specifically.

Run Windows image and system-file repair
Open Windows Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin), approve the User Account Control prompt, and run these commands in order:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth- After DISM completes, run
sfc /scannow - Restart Windows and test the application again
DISM repairs the Windows component image that SFC uses as a source. Running SFC first can leave it without a healthy source, so keep the order above. If either command reports that it could not complete, record the exact message and address Windows servicing or disk problems before repeatedly deleting application files.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsCheck updates, drivers and security status
- Install pending Windows updates, then restart.
- Install firmware and device-driver updates from the hardware or software vendor, especially if crashes began after a device or driver change.
- Run a Microsoft Defender scan and review quarantined items.
- Keep adequate free space on the Windows drive so updates and repairs can complete.
Can you delete intelcheck.exe?
Do not delete it solely because the name looks unfamiliar. If it is inside an installed VideoProc, VideoProc Converter or 5KPlayer directory, deleting it can make that application fail or leave it in a mismatched state. Uninstall or repair the parent program instead.
Best Value
Deletion is reasonable only after you have confirmed that the parent application has been removed, the file is an orphaned leftover, and Defender has not identified an active threat that requires quarantine or further investigation. If Defender detects the file, follow the security product’s quarantine and remediation workflow rather than manually copying or replacing it.
Why it may be running on your PC
- A VideoProc or 5KPlayer component may invoke it when that application starts or performs a hardware-related check.
- An Intel DSA installation or an older Intel identification utility may call a file with the same name during a driver scan.
- A damaged installation may repeatedly retry the component and generate an error.
- An unexpected path, invalid signature or Defender detection means the process needs investigation rather than automatic permission.
Use Task Manager’s Open file location command to connect the running process to its parent. The process name by itself cannot tell you which of these cases applies.
Practical decision checklist
- Path check: expected publisher folder, or an unrelated temporary/profile/system location?
- Signature check: valid signer matching the parent software, or missing/invalid signature?
- Defender check: clean scan, quarantine, or a detection requiring remediation?
- Error timing: application launch, Intel DSA scan, “not a valid 32-bit application,” or system-wide crash?
- Desired outcome: repair the application, remove it, or escalate a wider Windows fault?
As an optional shortcut after the manual checks, Outbyte PC Repair can address more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, including broken system elements, invalid redirects and shared DLL problems, while also offering cleanup and an app-crash log. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7; a free trial by category lasts at least two days before a paid subscription, and it complements antivirus software rather than replacing it. Results vary, and no tool repairs every crash.
Bottom line
There is no single safe-or-dangerous verdict for IntelCheck.exe. Identify the exact path and parent program, verify the signature, scan the file, and then repair or uninstall that parent application. Intel DSA failures need Intel’s service, browser and reinstall steps; broader crashes need Windows updates, vendor drivers, Defender checks and the DISM-then-SFC sequence. Never download a random standalone replacement executable.
