hpinkinsCF11.exe appears in a published HP DeskJet 5570 printer-driver package, so a copy installed with the matching HP software may be legitimate. The filename alone does not prove that a particular executable is safe: malware can reuse familiar names. Do not open an unknown copy. Verify its path, signer, origin and hash, then scan that exact file with Windows Security before deciding whether to repair, quarantine or remove anything.
What hpinkinscf11.exe is
The name is associated with HP printer software. A third-party listing of the HP DeskJet 5570 driver package includes hpinkinsCF11.exe together with hpinkinsCF11.dll, hpinkcoiCF11.dll and other printing components. That establishes a plausible driver origin, not the identity of every file carrying the name.

Windows executable names are not unique identifiers. A malicious program can be renamed to resemble a printer component, copied into a user-writable folder or launched by a persistence entry. Treat the file as an object that must be authenticated, rather than as safe or unsafe solely because of its spelling or the presence of “HP” in the name.
Is hpinkinscf11.exe safe?
Safety depends on the particular copy on your computer. Use all four checks below together; no single check is conclusive.

| What you find | How to interpret it | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Expected HP printer-driver folder, valid Hewlett-Packard or HP digital signature, and a clean Windows Security scan | Consistent with a legitimate printer component | Keep it. If Windows reports a missing or damaged file, repair the matching HP installation rather than downloading a replacement executable. |
| Unsigned file, an unusual location, a recent download or an email attachment | Higher suspicion; the name provides no reassurance | Do not run it. Disconnect from networks if suspicious activity is occurring, then scan and investigate the source. |
| Windows Security detection, repeated recreation, security settings being disabled or unexplained process activity | Possible malware or another unwanted program; the filename itself does not establish the cause | Isolate the computer, quarantine through Windows Security and run a full scan or Microsoft Defender Offline. |
| Missing-file message after an HP printer was removed | Often a stale startup, service or task left by an incomplete printer uninstall | Remove the affected HP software cleanly or reinstall the driver for the exact printer model; do not fetch a random copy of the executable. |
Do this before opening or deleting the file
- Do not double-click it. If it is in Downloads, a temporary directory, an email attachment location or an application folder you do not recognize, leave it closed.
- Disconnect when there are active warning signs. If security tools are being disabled, unknown processes are returning after reboot or accounts are behaving unusually, unplug Ethernet or turn off Wi-Fi before investigating. This limits communication while you scan.
- Record the complete path. In Task Manager, right-click a running process with this name and choose Open file location. For a file found in Explorer, hold Shift, right-click it and choose Copy as path. Save the path in your notes before taking action.
- Note how it arrived. Record the printer model, the date of the driver installation, whether Windows Update or HP setup installed it, and whether the file came from a download or removable drive. A known installation history is useful context, but it is not proof.
Verify the publisher, version and hash
Check the digital signature
- Right-click the file, select Properties, and open Digital Signatures. A normal HP component may show Hewlett-Packard or HP as signer.
- Select the signature, choose Details, and confirm that Windows reports the signature as valid. Check the signing time and certificate chain if Windows displays them.
- Switch to Details and note the file description, product name, original filename and version. An empty description, a mismatch with your printer software or a recently changed file deserves further scrutiny.
A valid signature is evidence, not a substitute for malware scanning. An unsigned file is not automatically malicious either, but it removes an important piece of corroboration. Never use a screenshot or a filename from another computer as authentication for your copy.
Calculate a hash when you need a precise comparison
Open Windows PowerShell and run the following command with the real path in quotes:
Get-FileHash -Algorithm SHA256 -LiteralPath "C:pathtohpinkinsCF11.exe"
Record the resulting SHA-256 value. A hash is useful only when you can compare it with a value from a trusted, matching HP package or an administrator’s known-good copy. A different hash means the files differ; it does not, by itself, prove malware. Do not upload a potentially sensitive file to an unknown analysis service.

Scan the exact file with Windows Security
Run a custom scan first
- Open Windows Security from the Start menu.
- Select Virus & threat protection, then choose Protection updates and select Check for updates. Current definitions improve the chance of recognizing recent threats.
- Under Current threats, select Scan options, choose Custom scan, and click Scan now.
- Select the file itself or its containing folder. Let the scan finish and read the result in Protection history.
Windows Security supports quick, full, custom and Microsoft Defender Offline scans. A clean custom scan means no detection was made at that moment; it is not an absolute guarantee that a file is harmless.
Escalate to a full scan
Choose Full scan when the process returns after a restart, the file is in an unexpected location, you see unexplained startup activity or you cannot account for its origin. A full scan examines all accessible files and running programs and can take considerably longer than a quick scan. Keep the computer powered and avoid interrupting it.
Use Microsoft Defender Offline when Windows may be interfered with
Microsoft recommends isolating a potentially infected device, using Safe Mode where needed and running a full Defender scan. If a suspicious process repeatedly returns, security settings are altered or Windows Security cannot complete a normal scan, select Microsoft Defender Offline scan under Scan options. Save open work first: the computer restarts and scans before the normal Windows environment loads. HP states: “HP recommends using the Windows Defender Offline scan if you suspect your computer is infected with malware or a virus.”

After the restart, return to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Protection history and review the action taken. Follow the offered quarantine or removal action rather than trying to delete protected files manually.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat to do with each scan result
No detection, expected HP location and valid signature
Leave the file in place if it belongs to the installed printer package. If the printer or Windows reports that it is missing or damaged, repair the installation using the exact model’s HP driver package. Do not replace one component with an executable copied from a file-sharing site.
Detection or suspicious behavior
Choose Quarantine or the action Windows Security recommends. Do not restore the file merely because its name contains “hp.” Keep the device offline until the full or Offline scan is complete. If the computer was used for banking, work accounts or other sensitive services while the file was running, change important passwords from a separate clean device after cleanup and enable multifactor authentication where available.

Scan cannot run or the file keeps returning
Restart into Windows Safe Mode with networking disabled where possible, then run Windows Security again. Check Settings > Apps > Startup, Task Manager’s Startup apps tab and Task Scheduler for entries that launch the file. Disable or remove an entry only when you can identify the associated HP software or suspicious program; record its name and path first. If security tools remain disabled, unknown accounts are affected or business data may have been exposed, stop experimenting and obtain professional incident-response help.

Identify the exact symptom
- “hpinkinsCF11.exe is missing” or “cannot be found” at startup: usually indicates that a startup entry still points to a file removed during an incomplete uninstall, or that a driver installation is damaged.
- “Bad image,” application error or a crash when printing: can result from mismatched HP components, a damaged installation or a Windows update that left the package inconsistent.
- The message appears with no HP printer installed: a stale startup entry or scheduled task may remain after the printer was removed; verify the path before deleting anything.
- The process consumes resources or relaunches repeatedly: treat it as a verification and security problem first, not as a normal printer fault.
Remove the broken HP installation
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps (or Apps & features on older Windows) and locate the HP printer software for the affected model.
- Uninstall the HP package and any companion entry that clearly belongs to that same printer. Do not remove unrelated HP software solely because the publisher name matches.
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners (called Devices > Printers & scanners in some Windows versions), select the old printer and choose Remove if it is no longer needed.
- Restart Windows. Recheck the startup message and confirm that the old path is no longer being called.
If an uninstaller fails, use the printer’s own removal utility if one was installed. Avoid manually deleting DLLs or files from Windows system directories; doing so can break the print subsystem and make later repair harder.
Reinstall the matching driver safely
- Read the printer’s exact model and regional variant from its label or the printer’s control panel.
- Download the driver and software package from HP’s official support site for that exact model and your Windows edition. Do not substitute a DeskJet 5570 package for a different model merely because the filenames look similar.
- Run the installer, allow it to place its own files and reconnect the printer only when the installer requests it. If you downloaded an installer, scan it with Windows Security before launching it.
- Print a Windows test page and one normal document. Confirm that the startup error has not returned after a second restart.
If the matching driver is no longer offered for your Windows version, use Windows’ built-in printer setup or contact HP support for a supported package. Do not solve an availability problem by downloading an isolated executable from an unofficial archive.

Can you delete hpinkinscf11.exe?
Do not delete it just because the filename looks unfamiliar. If it is a signed, scanned component in the active HP driver folder, deleting it can break printing and leave a repairable installation in a worse state. If Windows Security detects it, quarantine it through Windows Security. If scans are clean but the file belongs to software you no longer use, uninstall that HP software first; remove only leftover files that the uninstaller identifies as orphaned.
After removal, check startup entries and scheduled tasks for references to the old path. A recurring “file not found” dialog means a reference remains somewhere; deleting the file again will not remove that reference.
When the file was executed before you found it
- Disconnect the computer from the network if suspicious behavior is present.
- Run a full Windows Security scan, followed by Microsoft Defender Offline when the process persists or security settings have changed.
- Review Protection history, startup applications and scheduled tasks for actions you do not recognize.
- From a separate clean device, change important passwords and review recent sign-ins. Do not reuse a password that may have been entered while the questionable process was active.
- Preserve the file path, hash, detection name and timestamps if you may need professional help or an employer’s incident-response team.
These precautions address possible exposure; they do not establish that hpinkinsCF11.exe itself was malicious. The evidence available for the name supports an HP printer-software association, not a verdict about an individual copy.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Printer supplies are a separate issue
If your broader HP setup problem is an empty cartridge, purchase HP printer ink cartridges only after selecting the exact printer model in the seller’s compatibility guidance. Ink can address a consumable shortage; it cannot repair, replace or authenticate hpinkinsCF11.exe.
As an optional shortcut after you have followed the manual checks, Outbyte PC Repair can address more than 100 common Windows issues where possible, including broken system elements, invalid redirects and shared DLL problems; it also offers settings tweaks, temporary-file cleanup, privacy tools, vulnerability checks, a real-time boost, file shredder and crash logging. It runs on Windows 11, 10, 8 and 7, with a free trial by category of at least two days followed by a paid subscription. It complements antivirus software rather than replacing it, and results vary.
Decision checklist
- Have you recorded the full path and the printer model?
- Does the file have a valid Hewlett-Packard or HP signature?
- Does its version and location match an HP package you intentionally installed?
- Did Windows Security scan the exact file with current definitions?
- Have you run a full or Defender Offline scan when the process returns or security settings change?
- Are you repairing the complete, exact-model driver package instead of downloading a single executable?
If the answers support a signed HP component and clean scans, repair the matching printer installation when necessary. If any answer points to an unexplained or detected file, keep it isolated and follow Windows Security’s quarantine and incident-response steps.
