Do not confuse it with Mozilla’s “GMP” process
Mozilla documentation also uses “GMP” for a Firefox media or DRM component. That process is unrelated to Garry’s Mod’s gmpublish.exe. The shared initials do not indicate a relationship, and removing one does not repair the other.

If you use multiple Steam libraries, check which library contains the active Garry’s Mod installation. A shortcut or script can point at an old library after the game has been moved. Record the full path before troubleshooting so you know which copy is actually being launched.

Repair a missing, corrupt, or misplaced installation

Can you delete gmpublish.exe?
