An Injective ETF would let investors buy exchange-traded fund shares intended to track INJ, Injective Network’s native digital asset, through a brokerage account. The fund—not each shareholder—would hold the tokens. As of October 7, 2026, the filings cited here show proposals, not a confirmed fund trading: the SEC records Canary Capital’s Cboe BZX listing proposal as withdrawn, while 21Shares filed a preliminary registration amendment that cannot be sold until it becomes effective.
What an Injective ETF is
An Injective ETF is a proposed exchange-traded product designed to give investors price exposure to INJ without requiring them to buy and manage tokens directly. Investors would own shares in a trust; the trust would hold INJ. Shareholders would not thereby own specific tokens or gain direct control over them on the blockchain.

The term “ETF” is commonly used for these proposals, but the filings describe trusts and their proposed exchange listings. A filed prospectus is not an SEC endorsement, approval, or confirmation that a product will launch.

As of October 7, 2026, the available records do not establish that either proposal is a currently trading fund. The SEC’s rulemaking page marks the proposed Cboe BZX listing for the Canary product as withdrawn on March 9, 2026. 21Shares filed an S-1/A on September 18, 2026; its preliminary prospectus says the shares cannot be sold until the registration statement is effective. These are different kinds of records: the SEC listing-proposal status concerns the Canary exchange rule filing, while the 21Shares S-1/A is an issuer registration filing. Neither record, as described here, establishes a fund currently available to buy.
What the filed proposals say
21Shares
The September 18, 2026 preliminary S-1/A describes a passive trust seeking to track INJ, adjusted for expenses and liabilities. It anticipates Nasdaq trading, uses the FTSE Injective Index, and says it would not use leverage or derivatives to meet its objective. Staking rewards would be reflected only if the sponsor determines it can stake without undue legal, regulatory, or tax risk. These terms remain preliminary and may change before registration becomes effective.

The filing describes the trust as a “passive investment vehicle” that seeks no returns beyond tracking INJ’s price. That is the issuer’s description in a preliminary filing, not a statement of SEC approval.

Canary’s June 25 preliminary prospectus describes a proposed Cboe BZX-traded trust that would hold INJ and seek price exposure net of expenses. It also identifies earning additional INJ through staking as a secondary objective, names BitGo Trust Company as custodian, and identifies CoinDesk Indices as benchmark provider. The SEC’s March 9, 2026 withdrawn status for its listing proposal means the prospectus should not be read as evidence of a current listing.

How an INJ ETF could affect token investors
A brokerage route, not direct token ownership
A listed fund could offer a familiar brokerage-account route for people who do not want to transact on crypto exchanges or manage wallets and private keys. In exchange, they would hold fund shares rather than INJ itself. Those shares would not automatically confer on-chain control or tokenholder participation.
Possible demand for INJ
If a fund creates shares using INJ, demand for shares could lead the fund or its service providers to buy the underlying token. That is a possible route by which fund activity might affect demand—not a guarantee of purchases, a forecast of inflows, or a prediction that INJ’s price will rise. Actual effects would depend on flows, market liquidity, fees, competing products, and wider crypto-market conditions. The filings do not establish that a fund will launch or attract assets.
Staking is not assured
The proposals treat staking differently. 21Shares makes it conditional on the sponsor’s assessment of legal, regulatory, and tax risks; Canary identifies staking rewards as a secondary objective. Neither description means shareholders necessarily receive staking rewards. The effective documents, if any, would need to explain whether staking is enabled, how rewards and fees are handled, and what risks apply.
Figures in the 21Shares filing
The 21Shares S-1/A reports the following figures as of September 1, 2026. They are dated filing disclosures, not live market statistics or independently verified current measures.

How to assess any eventual fund
Before considering a product, confirm that it is actually registered and listed, then compare its final terms rather than relying on preliminary prospectuses.
- Status: Is the registration effective, and are the shares actually listed and trading?
- Costs: What is the expense ratio, and are there other fees or costs?
- Benchmark and valuation: Which index or pricing method is used, and how is INJ valued?
- Custody and operations: Who holds the tokens, what protections and operational arrangements apply, and how liquid are the shares?
- Staking: Is staking permitted in practice? How are rewards distributed or retained, what fees apply, and what risks accompany it?
- Tracking and taxes: How closely have shares tracked the intended exposure, and what tax treatment applies to your situation?
Risks to understand
The preliminary filings warn of risks including INJ price volatility, regulatory change, custody and operational exposures, and fund expenses. A fund wrapper changes how an investor accesses exposure; it does not remove the risk of a decline in the underlying token or guarantee close tracking. Final terms may also differ from the preliminary documents.
