1577790205.exe is an unidentified Windows executable, not a verified Microsoft component. No authoritative vendor attribution was found for this exact filename, so the name alone cannot establish whether it is legitimate or malicious. Do not open it just to see what happens.

First document its complete path, properties, digital signature, hash, parent process and startup mechanism. Then scan it with Microsoft Defender and investigate any persistence. The correct response depends on where the file is stored, who signed it, whether it is running and what recreates it after deletion.

What the filename tells you—and what it does not

The .exe suffix means only that Windows treats the file as an executable program. The numeric name 1577790205 is not proof of a Windows system file, a Microsoft utility or malware. Software can use arbitrary names, and malicious programs often imitate ordinary files or use random-looking names.

No authoritative vendor or Microsoft attribution for 1577790205.exe is established. That makes it an unknown file. Unknown does not mean confirmed malware, but it does mean you should not run it before checking its origin and behavior.

Is 1577790205.exe safe?

There is no reliable yes-or-no answer from the filename alone. Use several independent signals rather than trusting one familiar-looking detail.

Signal What it can show How to interpret it
File location The folder from which Windows found or launched the executable A file in an email attachment, Downloads folder, temporary directory or cracked-software folder deserves extra caution. A location under a known application’s installation folder is useful context, not proof of safety.
Digital signature The claimed publisher and whether Windows can validate the signature An invalid, missing or unexpected signer is a warning. A valid signature identifies the signer, but it does not by itself prove that the particular copy is wanted on your computer.
Hash or security verdict A content fingerprint and any detection associated with that exact file Use the complete hash and a trusted security service or your security administrator. A filename match is not a hash match.
Running process Whether the executable is active, its command line and its parent process An unexplained parent or obfuscated command line can indicate persistence or abuse of a trusted Windows process.
Persistence Startup folders, registry Run entries, scheduled tasks or another launcher If the file returns after reboot, find and remove the launcher instead of repeatedly deleting the visible copy.
Phone number in the alert Whether a pop-up is trying to make you call technical support Microsoft says, Microsoft error and warning messages never include phone numbers. Treat such a message as a support scam, not a normal Windows error.

Do this before opening or deleting the file

  1. Leave it closed. Do not double-click it, run it from a command prompt or disable Microsoft Defender to make it start.
  2. Do not alter the evidence yet. If you may need help from an administrator, security team or incident responder, preserve the original file and note when and where you found it.
  3. Disconnect only when there are signs of compromise. If the file already executed or the computer is showing suspicious network, account or system activity, disconnect Ethernet and Wi-Fi before continuing. If it has not run and there are no such signs, you can first collect its identity information while keeping the device under observation.

Inspect 1577790205.exe safely

1. Find the complete path

If a notification names the file, copy the path exactly. Otherwise, search in File Explorer for 1577790205.exe, enable the View > Show > Hidden items option when appropriate, and record every copy you find. Do not assume that two files with the same name are the same file; their paths and hashes may differ.

Right-click a result and choose Properties. Record the folder, file size, creation and modification dates, and the Details tab’s original filename, product name, company and version fields. These fields are claims embedded in the file and can be missing or falsified, so use them as clues rather than certification.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Check the digital signature

In Properties, open Digital Signatures. Select each signature and choose Details to see whether Windows reports that the signature is valid, who signed it and whether the certificate chain is trusted. A missing signature is not automatic proof of malware—many legitimate programs are unsigned—but an invalid or unrelated signer should stop you from running the file until it is explained.

3. Calculate a hash without executing it

Open Windows PowerShell and run the following command, replacing the path with the exact location you recorded:

Get-FileHash -LiteralPath 'C:pathto1577790205.exe' -Algorithm SHA256

Save the resulting SHA-256 value with the file path. Submit the hash or file to a trusted security service according to that service’s rules and your organization’s policy. Do not upload confidential business software or personal data to a public scanner without authorization.

4. If it is running, capture its context first

Open Task Manager with Ctrl+Shift+Esc. On Processes or Details, locate the executable, right-click it and choose Open file location. Record the path before ending the task. On the Details tab, you can add columns such as Command line and Parent process when available. A process launched by an unexpected script, temporary file or obfuscated command deserves investigation. Do not terminate a critical Windows process merely because its name looks unfamiliar.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Scan the file before making a decision

In File Explorer, right-click the file and choose the Microsoft Defender scan option if it is available. You can also open Windows Security > Virus & threat protection and use the available scan controls. Record the detection name, path and date if Defender reports a result. A clean scan is useful evidence, but it is not a guarantee that an unknown program is desirable or safe in every context.

How to contain a suspected infection

Use containment when the file executed, Defender reports a threat, or you see symptoms such as unexplained account activity, disabled security controls or repeated launches.

  1. Isolate the computer. Disconnect network cables and turn off Wi-Fi. Do not use the machine for email, banking or password changes while it may be compromised.
  2. Update Defender definitions from a trusted connection. If your security policy permits, reconnect briefly to obtain current protection updates, then isolate the computer again before scanning. On a managed PC, follow your administrator’s incident procedure.
  3. Run a full scan. Go to Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Full scan, select Scan now, and allow it to finish. Keep the detection name and affected paths.
  4. Use Defender Offline when needed. In the same Scan options area, select Microsoft Defender Offline scan. Save open work first; Windows restarts and scans outside the normal Windows session, which can help when a running process interferes with removal.
  5. Recheck after the restart. Review Windows Security > Protection history. Do not restore a quarantined item simply because an application stops working; identify its publisher and source first.

Boot into Safe Mode for a stubborn or recurring file

Safe Mode starts Windows with a limited set of drivers and services. If the error or process disappears there, a startup program, service or third-party component may be involved; that observation is not proof that the file itself is malicious.

Find what launches the file at startup

Deleting an executable without removing its launcher often leads to a new copy, a repeated error or a “file not found” message. Check each persistence location and document the entry before disabling it.

Microsoft Autoruns

Use Microsoft’s Sysinternals Autoruns utility from an official Microsoft source. Run it as administrator, enable options that show locations and verify entries before changing them. Search for 1577790205.exe and for the exact path you recorded. Examine the Image Path, publisher, signature status and the launch location. Clear an entry only when you have confirmed that it is unwanted; if uncertain, uncheck it first so you can test without deleting the record.

Startup folders

Press Win+R, enter shell:startup and inspect the current user’s Startup folder. Repeat with shell:common startup for all users. Do not remove a shortcut until you have checked its target and publisher. An unknown shortcut that points to the executable is a likely reason it returns after sign-in.

Registry Run locations

Registry changes can prevent Windows or applications from starting, so export a key before editing it. In Registry Editor, review:

  • On 64-bit Windows, the corresponding WOW6432Node path may also contain entries.

Look for values that call the exact file path, a temporary script or an obfuscated command. Record the value name and data, export the key, then disable or remove only the confirmed unwanted value. If the computer is managed, ask your administrator before changing policy-controlled entries.

Scheduled tasks and services

Open Task Scheduler and inspect tasks whose actions point to the file, a script or an unfamiliar temporary directory. Check the trigger, author and last-run time. In Services, review newly installed or unsigned services with a matching executable path. Stop and disable only a service you have identified as unwanted; deleting a service blindly can break legitimate software.

What to do when the error keeps returning

A recurring alert can mean that a persistence entry recreates the file, a legitimate application is looking for a missing component, or a security product is detecting the same remnant repeatedly. Use the sequence below instead of repeatedly deleting copies.

  1. Write down the full alert text, detection name, path and time. Capture a screenshot if the message disappears.
  2. Check whether the message appears only after sign-in, when a particular application opens, or after a reboot. That timing points toward the relevant startup entry or parent application.
  3. Run a definition update, a full Defender scan and, if the alert remains, Defender Offline.
  4. Use Autoruns, Startup folders, registry Run keys and Task Scheduler to locate the launcher. Disable the launcher, restart, and scan again.
  5. If a known application owns the path and its signature is valid, repair or reinstall that application from its official vendor source rather than downloading a replacement executable from a random site.
  6. Keep the detection name and hash if the file returns. Those details are more useful to a security professional than the filename alone.

Can you delete 1577790205.exe?

Do not delete it solely because the name is unusual. First check its path, signer, hash, process context and scan result. If Defender quarantines it, leave it quarantined while you investigate. If you have confirmed that it is an unwanted file and no legitimate application depends on it, remove it through Defender or quarantine it rather than launching it or opening it with another program.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If Windows says the file is in use, boot into Safe Mode or use Defender Offline instead of forcing deletion. If deletion causes an application error, restore only from a verified backup or reinstall the application from its official source. Do not download a replacement copy of the executable from an unverified website.

Recognize fake Microsoft support messages

A browser page or pop-up that displays a phone number, claims that Microsoft has detected a problem and pressures you to call is not an authentic Microsoft error message. Microsoft explicitly states that its error and warning messages never include phone numbers.

  1. Do not call the number, grant remote access or install software requested by the caller.
  2. Close the browser tab or use Task Manager to end the browser if it is trapped in a full-screen loop. Do not click additional pop-up buttons.
  3. If you allowed remote access, uninstall the remote-control tools the caller requested, run Defender scans, install pending Windows updates and change passwords from a known-clean device.
  4. Review account sign-ins and contact your financial institution promptly if payment details were disclosed.

Download software only from the official vendor site or Microsoft Store. A phone number in an alert is a strong indicator of a scam, not evidence that 1577790205.exe is a Microsoft file.

When to get specialist help

Contact your organization’s administrator or a qualified incident-response professional when the file executed with administrator rights, security tools are disabled, multiple accounts show suspicious activity, the executable returns after Offline scanning, or you cannot determine what launches it. Preserve the path, hash, detection name, timestamps, parent process and Autoruns or Task Scheduler evidence. Avoid repeatedly wiping files because that can destroy information needed to identify the source.

Practical decision checklist

  • Unknown file, not executed: leave it closed, record its identity, calculate a hash and scan it.
  • Unknown file, executed or active: isolate the device, capture process context, update Defender, run a full scan and use Defender Offline.
  • File returns after reboot: inspect Autoruns, Startup folders, registry Run keys, scheduled tasks and services.
  • Valid signer and known application path: verify the application’s source and repair or reinstall that application if its component is missing.
  • Alert includes a phone number: treat it as a support scam; do not call or grant remote access.

Bottom line

1577790205.exe has no verified public attribution, so the safe classification is “unknown,” not “safe” or “confirmed malware.” Do not execute it to test it. Path, signature, hash, process ancestry, persistence and Defender results provide the evidence needed to decide whether to quarantine, remove, repair an associated application or escalate the incident.
