Henkel completed its acquisition of Stahl on October 1, 2026, and says Stahl is now fully part of the company. For specialty-coatings customers, the ownership change is confirmed; specific changes to contracts, prices, supply, ordering, products or service are not established in the public announcements. Customers who need operational commitments should confirm them with their existing commercial contact.
Who owns Stahl now?
Henkel announced on February 4, 2026, that it had agreed to acquire the Netherlands-based Stahl Group. The deal closed on October 1, after closing conditions, including required regulatory approvals, were fulfilled. Henkel said Stahl was fully part of Henkel as of that date. Henkel’s closing announcement confirms the completed transaction.

Henkel announced a purchase price of €2.1 billion in February. Stahl described the transaction value as an enterprise value of €2.1 billion in its own announcement. Those are the companies’ respective descriptions of the announced figure, not separate post-closing valuations. Henkel’s agreement announcement and Stahl’s February announcement give the two wordings.

Henkel describes Stahl as a global supplier of high-performance specialty coatings for flexible materials. Its portfolio includes leather-finishing coatings, performance coatings, and coatings for high-performance paper packaging and graphics. These are industrial materials and solutions for manufacturers, rather than a single standardized consumer coating product.

The market descriptions changed between Henkel’s announcements. The February agreement release named automotive, fashion and lifestyle, and packaging; the October closing release described customer markets as mobility, fashion and lifestyle, luxury, and packaging. Henkel’s later wording adds luxury and uses mobility rather than automotive. The closing release has the current description.
Why did Henkel buy Stahl?
Henkel says the acquisition expands its Adhesive Technologies business into the adjacent specialty-coatings category. Its stated rationale includes complementary portfolios, overlapping customer segments, Stahl’s research and development capabilities and customization, and the potential to offer a more comprehensive solutions platform. These are Henkel’s strategic aims; the announcements do not demonstrate that planned synergies or customer benefits have already been realized.

In the closing announcement, Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel said the deal broadens the company’s technology portfolio and opens growth opportunities in core and new end markets. Mark Dorn, Henkel’s Executive Vice President responsible for Adhesive Technologies, said combining Stahl’s specialty-coatings capabilities with Henkel’s adhesives expertise is intended to create a broader platform to help customers innovate and advance sustainability ambitions. These statements describe the company’s objectives, not quantified customer outcomes.
Will Stahl products, service or supply change?
The public announcements confirm the ownership change and Henkel’s intention to combine capabilities, but they do not set out customer-specific changes or guarantees. They do not establish whether any customer’s contract, pricing, supply arrangements, ordering channels, product lineup, technical support or service will change, nor do they give an integration timetable.

Stahl said on February 4, before the transaction closed, that it would be “business as usual” for employees, customers and partners during the transition period. That was a time-limited pre-closing statement, not a guarantee of unchanged arrangements after October 1.
