Its new Hark Pro service puts chat alongside a Home screen, suggested action cards, custom panels, Projects, persistent memory, and an agent that can operate a cloud browser. The design lead behind the concept is Abidur Chowdhury, a former Apple industrial designer. A launch demonstration showed Hark attempting a DoorDash order, but it took several minutes and still needed the user to confirm payment. That makes Hark’s vision concrete; it does not yet prove that the interface makes everyday tasks faster or reliably autonomous.
What does a GUI for an AI assistant mean?
A graphical user interface gives people visible controls and information to work with, rather than making them express every request in text. Hark design lead Abidur Chowdhury describes the company’s ambition as building an interaction layer for future AI—something more like a mouse and desktop interface than a blank prompt box.

That is Hark’s design argument, not a demonstrated shift in how people use computers. Hark Pro still includes conversational chat; it adds other surfaces around it so users can see suggested actions, organize ongoing work, and observe an agent acting through a browser.
What Hark Pro includes at launch
Hark launched Hark Pro on October 6, 2026. The company says it is available on the web, iOS, and Android. Its launch materials describe these main parts of the service:

- Action cards: Suggestions for possible next steps, intended to make the assistant’s work more visible and actionable than a chat response alone.
- Projects: Spaces for topics or work that continue over time.
- Memory: A persistent feature intended to let Hark retain information across interactions.
- Handoff: A cloud computer and browser agent that Hark says can sign in to websites and take actions. The company describes connections to services such as Google and Outlook.
These are company descriptions of the product, not independent confirmation that every supported service or action works seamlessly. Handoff is particularly important to the GUI idea: instead of merely telling a user what to do, it can show an agent operating a browser on the user’s behalf.
What the DoorDash demonstration showed
In launch coverage for Gizmodo, Chowdhury asked Hark to order a Filet-O-Fish through DoorDash. Handoff used a cloud computer and browser; the attempt took several minutes, and Chowdhury still had to confirm payment. The reporter questioned whether doing the simple order manually would have been faster.

Chowdhury’s counterargument was about delegation rather than speed: a user might choose to hand off a task even if it takes longer, in order to focus elsewhere. He suggested that research-heavy work—for example, finding a dentist that meets several criteria—could be a better fit than a straightforward food order. That is a rationale for the product, not a measured comparison. The demonstration was a single reported example, not a controlled test of Hark’s task completion rate, accuracy, or time savings.
Proactive suggestions remain a bigger claim than the demo
Hark also presents a more anticipatory use for action cards. After a user connects email and other services, the assistant might suggest tasks such as approving an item, submitting a receipt, authorizing a delivery, checking into a flight, or making a payment. One Hark example imagines someone buying a movie ticket and later seeing parking information and a QR code surfaced for the trip.

Gizmodo’s reporter said they could not confirm that broader behavior during launch coverage. The movie-ticket example should therefore be read as Hark’s proposed experience, not as verified evidence that the assistant reliably notices context and takes the right next step. The available reporting does not establish a general success rate or show that proactive suggestions consistently arrive at the right time.
Plans, usage limits, and pricing
Hark’s pricing page listed the following plans on October 7, 2026. The company says the plans differ in usage rather than features; availability and prices may change.

Hark does not state in the cited plan details what a base unit of usage represents, so the multipliers alone do not tell a reader how many tasks or actions to expect. The official pricing page is the place to check current terms.

Hark says it does not sell user data or share it with advertisers, and says sensitive credentials are stored with encryption. Those are company statements; they should not be mistaken for an independent security audit.

Hark’s Privacy Policy, last updated October 1, 2026, also explains that information needed to carry out a user-directed action may be shared with the relevant merchant, service, or recipient—for example, when booking, placing an order, signing in, or sending a message. It describes sharing information with service providers and business partners for operations such as hosting, processing, research, auditing, compliance, and service delivery. That data flow is inherent in asking an assistant to act through external accounts: the service must transmit relevant details to the parties involved.
Hark’s Terms say that when legally required or reasonably likely to be read or answered, it identifies itself as an AI when contacting others. Users should still consider which accounts they connect and what actions they authorize.
Hark’s physical product is only a future plan
Hark’s official usage page says it plans to release its first physical product in 2027. At launch, the company was not ready to share details, and the available reporting does not establish a form factor, model, price, or availability. Hark Pro, as launched, is software; there is not enough information to identify or assess a hardware product.

Hark has launched a service that makes its interface thesis tangible: chat is surrounded by cards, panels, project spaces, memory, and a browser agent. The DoorDash demonstration also shows the practical gap between a compelling interface idea and a dependable assistant: one reported order took several minutes and required a final payment confirmation.
The launch coverage did not establish broad task reliability, time saved, or the effectiveness of proactive suggestions. Hark’s GUI concept is therefore best understood as a product direction with some visible features and a limited public demonstration—not proof that AI has already outgrown the prompt box.
