The remedy depends on what was blocked: an individual ad, a user, a payment function or the entire advertising account. Read the platform’s notice and status page first, correct the specific issue identified, then use the official appeal or support route before its deadline. Reinstatement is never guaranteed.
“Blocked” can mean several different enforcement actions
Social advertising systems do not use one universal block status. A rejected creative, a restricted team member, a billing hold and a suspended advertising account have different effects and different ways to recover. Treating all of them as an account ban can lead you to change the wrong setting or submit the wrong appeal.

The notice tied to the affected account is more useful than a generic policy list. It identifies the asset, reason, date and sometimes a response deadline that applies to your case.
What happens immediately after an account-level block?
The clearest common effect is stopped delivery. TikTok for Business states: “All ads under the suspended ad account will be stopped.” LinkedIn’s help documentation similarly says: “If your LinkedIn Ads account has been put on hold, ads won’t run while the account is on hold but will resume once the hold is removed.” Those statements describe the cited services, not a rule that every platform uses identical wording or behavior.

A suspension can also remove access to operational tools. On TikTok, suspended advertisers lose access to some Ads Manager functions, including transferring and accessing pixels. Administrators and Operators can still change campaign, ad-group and ad-delivery status, but other account or campaign settings are unavailable while the suspension remains. The exact combination of read, edit and export permissions varies by platform and by the severity of the action.
Delivery can therefore stop even when you can still sign in. Do not interpret a functioning login, visible historical data or the ability to pause a campaign as proof that the account is healthy. Check the account-health or status interface for the enforcement scope.
Why platforms block advertisers
Enforcement notices commonly point to one of five categories. The relevant notice may identify only one of them, and a generic list is not evidence that every category applies to your account.
Policy or terms violations
Ad copy, imagery, targeting, products, services or business practices can conflict with advertising standards. Google Ads says policy or terms violations can lead to suspension. TikTok lists violations of its advertising standards and problems with an ad’s content or service qualification among possible causes.

Landing-page or destination changes
TikTok specifically lists changing an ad’s landing page after campaign creation as a possible suspension trigger. A destination that now redirects, displays different products, requests unexpected information or no longer matches the approved ad can create a new compliance problem even if the original review passed.
Billing and payment problems
Google identifies promotional-code abuse, chargebacks, suspicious payment activity and unpaid balances as suspension reasons. LinkedIn may put an account on hold when payment details are missing on a new account, invoices remain unpaid, or a billing administrator has changed. A payment hold is not necessarily a finding about the ad’s content.
Account integrity or suspicious behavior
Platforms may act when account behavior appears malicious, deceptive or inconsistent with normal advertiser activity. TikTok lists suspected malicious behavior. Google allows immediate suspension for egregious violations that are unlawful or pose significant harm; not every suspension receives a warning first.

Users, budgets and inactivity
LinkedIn lists a user profile identified as potentially spam or fake, an enterprise budget or end date being reached, and certain inactive accounts as hold reasons. Removing or correcting a restricted user may help when the notice identifies that person, but it is not a universal fix for an account-level suspension.

Platform-by-platform effects and recovery routes
TikTok for Business
TikTok’s Account Health interface uses status signals. “Attention Needed” indicates issues, warnings or suggestions; “Poor” leads to suspension. Severe issues can result in immediate suspension rather than a warning period.
For a first violation, TikTok describes a temporary suspension with 30 days to address the issue or appeal. If the problem remains, or an appeal is rejected after that period, the suspension can become permanent under the stated process. Permanent suspension removes Ads Manager access and, according to that guidance, offers no further appeal through the same route.
To appeal, sign in to the suspended account and follow Help > Submit ticket > Account/Ad Review > Account Review > Account Suspension Appeal. TikTok’s troubleshooting guidance says appeals submitted more than 180 days after suspension will not be reviewed. It advises one appeal per incident, warns that duplicate appeals can delay processing, and recommends not creating a new ad account while the appeal is under review. The page says an email reply usually arrives within two business days. These are TikTok instructions, not a cross-platform service standard; verify the current in-product path and notice because the guidance was last updated in April 2025.

Google may suspend an account for policy or terms violations, payment problems or other prohibited activity. The company distinguishes severe cases that can be suspended immediately without prior warning, particularly when conduct is unlawful or poses significant harm.

The suspension notice in the account provides the appeal form. Some advertisers may be asked to complete identity verification. For billing or payment suspensions, Google may also require verification of the payment method. Google says reinstatement is reserved for compelling circumstances, such as a mistake, so an appeal is a request for review rather than a promise of restoration.
Submit one complete, accurate appeal with the requested evidence. Google warns that filing too many appeals for the same suspension may result in later appeals not being processed. A second submission is not automatically a stronger one.
LinkedIn Ads
A LinkedIn account on hold does not run ads until the hold is removed. The Campaign Manager banner states the reason and recommended troubleshooting steps. Depending on the cause, the remedy may be adding payment details, resolving invoices, correcting a billing-administrator change, addressing an enterprise budget or end date, or removing a restricted user when appropriate. Some cases require contacting a LinkedIn representative.

For those assets, open the notice in Campaign Manager or the linked email. If you believe the material complies, the notice page provides an appeal option, and LinkedIn says it usually sends an update within 24 hours. That timing applies to the cited ad and form appeal guidance; it does not establish that every account hold follows the same route or response window.
X Ads
X’s eligibility guidance says advertisers must meet its criteria and comply with the Ads Quality Policy. A deactivated X account cannot participate in X Ads. The cited eligibility material does not provide enough detail to describe a general account-suspension appeal process, so use the notice shown in the affected account rather than assuming that TikTok, Google or LinkedIn procedures apply.

- Preserve the evidence. Save the notice, banner and related email. Record the platform, account or asset affected, stated reason, date, case number and any deadline before changing settings.
- Identify the scope. Confirm whether delivery stopped for one ad, a lead form, a user, a payment function or the whole advertising account. Check the platform’s account-quality, account-status or billing interface.
- Correct the named problem. Review the ad and destination page, verify business or advertiser details if requested, settle outstanding payments, confirm the payment method and inspect who has account access. Make changes that address the stated reason rather than deleting unrelated campaigns.
- Collect a concise explanation. Describe what happened, what you changed and why the account now complies. Include requested identity, business, payment or destination-page documentation. Use factual dates and account identifiers; do not speculate about an undisclosed trigger.
- Submit through the official route. Open the appeal or support flow from the affected account or notice. Follow the platform’s current deadline, evidence requirements and limits on additional appeals.
- Wait without creating conflicting activity. Do not submit duplicate appeals. TikTok specifically advises against opening a new ad account while its appeal is pending, and Google warns that excessive appeals may not be processed. Those instructions should not be generalized to every service, but opening parallel accounts can make ownership and compliance harder to explain.
- Protect campaign continuity. Pause spend that cannot deliver, notify stakeholders, preserve approved creative and prepare a compliant contingency channel if the business depends on uninterrupted acquisition. Review timing and reinstatement are not guaranteed.
How to write an effective appeal
An appeal should make review easy, not repeat the entire account history. State the account identifier, the notice date and the precise reason shown. Then provide three short parts:
- Finding: quote or accurately paraphrase the issue named in the notice.
- Correction: identify the ad, page, payment method, user access or business information you changed.
- Evidence: attach only the documents requested or directly relevant, with sensitive information redacted where the platform permits.
If the platform asks for identity or payment verification, complete that step rather than sending a general policy essay. If you believe the action is an error, explain the specific mismatch between the notice and the account’s current state. Avoid angry language, unsupported claims that a competitor caused the block, or multiple versions of the same appeal.
Temporary versus permanent outcomes
Some restrictions are designed to end after a correction or review; others can become permanent. TikTok describes a 30-day first-violation period and a possible permanent outcome when issues remain or an appeal is rejected. Google says reinstatement occurs only in compelling circumstances such as a mistake. LinkedIn says ads resume when a hold is removed, but its hold guidance does not promise a universal resolution time. X’s cited eligibility page does not establish a general restoration process.
There is no comparable published statistic in the cited guidance for block frequency, appeal success or average reinstatement time. TikTok’s two-business-day reply and LinkedIn’s usual 24-hour update are procedural estimates for specified workflows, not success rates or guarantees that ads will resume.
Common mistakes that make recovery harder
- Assuming every block is an ad rejection: account, user and billing restrictions require different corrections.
- Fixing the creative but ignoring the destination: a changed or noncompliant landing page can remain the underlying issue.
- Submitting repeated appeals: Google warns excessive appeals may not be processed, while TikTok says duplicate appeals can delay review.
- Opening a replacement account immediately: TikTok advises against doing so during review, and a new account does not correct the original finding.
- Ignoring access and billing administrators: a restricted user, changed billing administrator or unpaid invoice can stop delivery even when the ads themselves comply.
- Waiting past the stated deadline: TikTok’s troubleshooting guidance says appeals filed more than 180 days after suspension will not be reviewed; other platforms may set different limits in the notice.
- Expecting a guaranteed outcome: an appeal creates an opportunity for review, not an entitlement to reinstatement.
What the block means for your business operations
Beyond lost impressions, a block can interrupt scheduled launches, invalidate pacing forecasts and leave pixels, audiences or reporting inaccessible. Preserve campaign names, creative files, destination versions, invoices and conversion documentation while you still have access. Give finance, legal, agency and sales teams the same factual timeline so nobody submits contradictory explanations or continues spending against a non-delivering account.
Use the platform’s own notice as the controlling record. Interfaces, deadlines and enforcement labels can change, so check the current status page immediately before filing and again after any response. The cited platform examples show why a careful diagnosis matters: an ad rejection, a payment hold and a full suspension may appear similar to a campaign manager but have entirely different recovery paths.
