Your projects and files are not deleted when you cancel Apple Creator Studio. Cancellation stops the next renewal, and your subscription continues through the end of the billing period you already paid for. After that date, Apple says your files remain available, but editing depends on the app: Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro projects require an active subscription to open or edit, while Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform documents remain editable with their paid features removed.
The immediate effect: cancellation is not immediate expiry
Apple treats cancellation as the end of renewal, not as an instant shutdown. If you cancel during a monthly or annual term, the subscription remains active until the last day of that paid billing period. You continue to use the included apps and subscription features during that remaining time.

Apple’s subscription guidance also says cancellation should be completed at least one day before the renewal date to avoid being charged for the next term. The exact renewal date, plan and cancellation rules can vary by country or region, so check the subscription details for the Apple account that pays for Creator Studio. Apple’s U.S. subscription page lists its own current terms and offers, but those figures are regional and can change; they should not be treated as worldwide pricing. What remains after the paid period ends
When the paid period expires, Apple says you retain access to projects and files created with the included apps. That is a retention promise, not a blanket promise that every file remains fully editable in every app.

Apple’s product FAQ gives specific guidance for the professional creative apps. Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro projects remain on your devices and can be copied or shared to another device. However, Apple says an active subscription is required to open or edit those projects in the subscription versions of the apps. Keeping the project file therefore does not by itself preserve editing access.
For Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform, the post-expiry result is different. Apple says the apps and their documents remain available, and existing documents remain editable. The restriction applies to subscription-only intelligence features, premium templates and other paid capabilities: those features are unavailable for new edits once the subscription has ended. Apple’s support wording is that you still have access to these apps “without the intelligence features included in the subscription.” Apple Support explains the cancellation and access rules.

This table reflects Apple’s stated entitlement rules. Apple does not establish identical behavior for every asset, plug-in, template, feature or device, so do not assume that a project created in one app will behave exactly like a document created in another.

Retention is different from editing access
Your files should not be treated as deleted
Canceling does not instruct Apple to erase the projects and documents you created in Creator Studio apps. The creative project files remain on the devices covered by Apple’s FAQ, and Apple says they can be copied or shared. Productivity documents likewise remain in their apps after expiry.
Creative projects may become read- or access-limited
For Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro, Apple expressly separates file retention from the ability to work on the file. The FAQ requires an active subscription to open or edit projects in those apps. Do not infer from the fact that a project is still stored that you can reopen the timeline, make changes, render a new version or export from the subscription app after expiry.
Basic document editing continues in productivity apps
Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform are not described as becoming unusable. Apple says their documents remain editable, but edits that depend on paid intelligence features, premium templates or other subscription features are no longer available. Existing content is therefore preserved while the range of tools you can apply to new edits is reduced.

What to do before you cancel
A short preparation pass prevents an expired entitlement from interrupting an active project.
- List projects by app. Separate Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro projects from Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform documents. The two groups have different post-expiry rules.
- Record the renewal date. Confirm the date shown for the Apple account paying for the subscription. Cancel at least one day before renewal if you want to avoid another charge, while remembering that access continues through the already-paid term.
- Finish time-sensitive creative work while access is active. If you must open or edit a Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro or Pixelmator Pro project, complete that work, export the required deliverables and make any necessary copies before the paid period ends.
- Copy or share creative project files. Apple says those projects can be copied or shared to another device. Keep the original project and any copies in locations you control, but do not assume that copying removes the subscription requirement for opening or editing.
- Identify paid elements in productivity documents. Mark documents that rely on intelligence features, premium templates or other subscription capabilities. After expiry, the document remains editable, but those paid features cannot be used for new changes.
- Check the platform. A possible one-time purchase exists for certain Mac apps, but that option is app- and platform-specific. Confirm that the app you need is offered for your Mac and that its entitlement fits the project before relying on it.
Can a one-time Mac purchase preserve creative work?
Apple identifies individual one-time Mac purchases for Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor and MainStage. Apple’s FAQ also says existing owners can continue using their standalone Mac apps. This creates a potential route for someone who wants to keep working without a Creator Studio subscription.
It is not a universal conversion of a subscription. The option depends on the specific app, the Mac platform and the purchase entitlement available to you. Apple’s materials do not promise that every subscription project, asset or feature will transfer seamlessly to a standalone app, nor do they say that an individual Mac purchase unlocks the same entitlement on iPad or iPhone. Common situations
You cancel halfway through an annual term
Your subscription remains active until the end of that annual billing period. You can continue using the included apps during the remaining term. The projects-and-files rules apply only after that paid period has ended.
You cancel after finishing a video or audio project
The Final Cut Pro or Logic Pro project remains on the device and can be copied or shared, according to Apple. If you need to reopen or edit the project in the subscription app later, plan on having an active subscription or an app-specific alternative that Apple supports for your Mac.

Your documents remain available and editable after expiry. The practical change is that subscription intelligence features, premium templates and other paid capabilities cannot be used for new edits. Ordinary editing of the existing document is not described as being removed.
You work across a Mac and an iPad or iPhone
Do not assume that a Mac purchase solves an iPad or iPhone entitlement question. Apple specifically describes one-time purchases as Mac apps, while its project guidance separately discusses projects remaining on devices and being copied or shared. Confirm the app and platform combination that your workflow requires.
What Apple’s terms do—and do not—establish
Apple’s support page and product FAQ establish the broad outcomes: cancellation ends renewal, access lasts through the paid period, files and projects are retained, creative subscription projects require an active subscription to open or edit, and productivity documents remain editable with paid-feature limits. They do not establish identical behavior for every file type, asset, template, plug-in, feature or future app release.

Because Apple can change app behavior, plans and regional entitlements, check the current support and product pages for your country before making a cancellation decision.
Bottom line
Canceling Apple Creator Studio does not delete your projects. You keep subscription access until the end of the paid billing period, and Apple says your projects and files remain afterward. The decisive distinction is editing access: Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro projects require an active subscription to open or edit, while Keynote, Pages, Numbers and Freeform documents remain editable but lose access to subscription-only features for new edits. If you need continued creative editing, finish or export critical work before expiry and investigate the app-specific Mac purchase option rather than assuming file retention means unrestricted access.
