Short answer: Myntra gift cards are normally usable only on Myntra, cannot be exchanged for cash or credit, and are valid for one year under Pine Labs’ published terms. If Myntra actually shut down, those terms do not promise an automatic bank refund. A balance might be honoured by Pine Labs or a successor, handled through a formal wind-down, or become a claim in insolvency. A cancelled order paid with a gift card should be credited back to the source gift card, but there is no published guarantee that a pending order will be delivered after the marketplace stops operating.

What Myntra gift-card terms actually promise
Redemption is tied to the Myntra platform
Pine Labs’ terms identify Pine Labs Limited as the issuer of the Myntra E-Gift Card. They state that the card is “redeemable only on Myntra marketplace platform.” Before redemption, the holder must add the stored value to the Myntra Wallet or Myntra User Account. In practical terms, the ordinary redemption path requires both an accessible Myntra account and a functioning checkout system.

Those are restrictions on normal use; they are not a promise about what happens if the marketplace disappears.

Expiry can eliminate unused value
The one-year validity period matters even while Myntra is operating. Keep the voucher email, PIN, issue details, and expiry date, and use the balance before that date. Separately distributed Myntra e-voucher terms published with SBI Card state that an e-voucher has an expiry date and that any corresponding unused balance is forfeited after expiry unless QwikCilver and/or Myntra Designs Private Limited expressly agrees otherwise. A holder should therefore treat an expired voucher as a separate problem from a platform closure; the written terms do not create an automatic extension.
What a cancelled order should do
Pine Labs’ gift-card terms state: “In cases where the order is cancelled, the E-Gift Card amount shall be refunded to the source E-Gift Card.” That directs the refund back to the original gift-card balance rather than to a bank account or a different payment method. Save the cancellation ID and the original voucher details, because access to the account may be needed to see the credit.
What changes if Myntra stops accepting orders?
A closure can mean several different events: a temporary outage, a checkout shutdown while support remains available, a transfer to a successor, or a formal liquidation. The recovery route is different in each case.

Will a Myntra gift card automatically become cash?
There is no published Myntra-specific promise of an automatic cash payout on closure. The ordinary Pine Labs terms expressly say the E-Gift Card cannot be redeemed for cash or credit. A cash recovery would therefore require a new commitment from Pine Labs, Myntra, a successor, a payment provider, or an insolvency administrator—not merely the fact that the marketplace is unavailable.
Do not assume that a gift card, a Myntra Wallet balance, Myntra Credit, and a card-payment refund are legally identical. A gift card is the stored-value instrument described in Pine Labs’ terms. “Myntra Credit” may appear as an account balance, but the cited gift-card terms do not establish a bank-refund right for every type of account credit. The terms governing the particular credit, the identity of the entity holding the obligation, and the reason the credit was issued all matter.
What RBI’s PPI rules establish—and what they do not
The Reserve Bank of India describes prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) as instruments that facilitate purchases against stored value and requires non-bank PPI issuers to obtain RBI authorisation. The RBI Master Directions also define closed-system PPIs as instruments issued for purchasing goods or services from the issuing entity only.

Those regulatory descriptions explain why issuer identity and instrument structure matter. They do not say that a marketplace shutdown automatically converts a closed-system balance into a bank transfer. The result still depends on Pine Labs’ obligations, the exact product terms, any successor arrangement, and whether a formal wind-down or insolvency process provides a claims mechanism.
What happens to a pending Myntra order?
The order may still be fulfilled
If Myntra keeps its ordering, seller, logistics, and support systems running, a paid order may proceed under the original order terms. Monitor the order page and shipment messages, and save the promised delivery date and seller contact details. A pending status alone does not prove that the order has been cancelled.
The order may be cancelled and refunded
If the order is cancelled and the payment was a Myntra E-Gift Card, the cited Pine Labs terms direct the gift-card portion back to the source E-Gift Card. An order paid partly by gift card and partly by another method may require separate treatment for each portion; keep the complete payment breakdown rather than assuming the entire amount returns to one place.

SBI Card’s distributed-voucher terms also say orders placed with e-vouchers may be cancelled at the discretion of QwikCilver and/or Myntra Designs Private Limited. That clause confirms that cancellation is possible, but it does not specify a universal cash-refund method after a platform closure.
The account or app may become inaccessible
If you cannot sign in, the normal wallet-refund display may be unavailable even though you have a contractual or payment claim. Preserve evidence immediately and contact the issuer, payment provider, and the official consumer-protection channels in India. Ask for a written acknowledgement of the balance or cancelled-order amount.

- Identify the instrument. Decide whether the amount is an unredeemed E-Gift Card, a balance already loaded into Myntra Wallet, Myntra Credit, a card charge awaiting reversal, or a cancelled-order refund. The instrument determines who may owe you the money.
- Check validity. Record the voucher’s issue and expiry dates. If it is still valid, attempt redemption while the service remains available and capture the result. If it has expired, note the exact date and the term that governs forfeiture.
- Collect account evidence. Save screenshots showing the wallet or credit balance, the account email or phone number, and the date and time. Download invoices and order pages before access changes.
- Collect payment evidence. Keep the voucher email and PIN, purchase receipt, bank or card statement, transaction reference, seller messages, shipping records, and every cancellation or support-ticket number.
- Contact the named issuer first. Pine Labs is identified as the issuer in the E-Gift Card terms. Ask whether the balance can be honoured, reissued, transferred, or refunded and request the answer in writing. Do not describe cash redemption as an existing entitlement when the normal terms prohibit it.
- Contact the payment provider. If the voucher was bought through a bank, card issuer, or other distributor, ask what dispute, reversal, or escalation route applies. Provide the original transaction and the issuer’s response.
- Look for an official successor or administrator notice. Use notices published by the company, the named issuer, a court-appointed administrator, or an Indian consumer authority. Verify the legal entity, claim form, evidence rules, and deadline before submitting anything.
- File a claim promptly when a formal process opens. Submit the voucher value, order number, cancellation proof, payment record, and account details in the required format. Keep a copy and proof of submission.
Evidence checklist for a closure or cancellation claim
- Original gift-card or e-voucher email, PIN, face value, issuer, and expiry date.
- Screenshots of Myntra Wallet or Myntra Credit balances, including the account identifier and capture date.
- Order number, invoice, seller name, shipment status, promised delivery date, and cancellation ID.
- Bank, card, or payment-app statement showing purchase and any attempted refund.
- Emails, chat transcripts, seller communications, and support-ticket numbers.
- Copies of any issuer, successor, administrator, court, or consumer-authority notice.
Store copies outside the Myntra app. A screenshot that shows only a balance without the account identifier may be harder to match to a claim, so keep the surrounding account and transaction context.
Common mistakes that reduce recovery chances
- Waiting until expiry: the distributed-voucher terms allow unused value to be forfeited after expiry unless an express exception is agreed.
- Assuming every balance is a gift card: wallet credit, promotional credit, and a card-payment refund can have different terms and different obligors.
- Expecting a bank refund automatically: Pine Labs’ normal E-Gift Card terms prohibit cash or credit redemption.
- Relying on an app screen alone: save the original voucher, payment statement, and order records in case the account becomes inaccessible.
- Using unofficial contact details: confirm that a request goes to the issuer, payment provider, company representative, or an officially identified administrator before sharing PINs or identity documents.
- Missing a claims deadline: a formal insolvency or wind-down notice may impose a specific submission date and evidence format.
How to judge a recovery promise
A credible announcement should identify who is assuming the obligation, which balances qualify, the treatment of expired vouchers, the submission channel, and the deadline. It should also explain whether the remedy is platform use, reissue, transfer, or cash payment. A social-media post that merely says “balances are safe” does not answer those questions.
Until such a commitment is published, the safest conclusion is limited: an operating Myntra account allows the normal one-year gift-card redemption route; a cancelled gift-card order is directed back to the source card; and a shutdown creates an unresolved recovery question rather than an automatic refund right.
