What Happens to Google Photos Albums and Print Orders When the Print Provider Changes?

Changing Google Photos’ print provider does not mean your Google Photos albums and print orders are the same thing—or that they move together. Google documents using an album to create a photo book, while its transition announcement describes recreating eligible print-book drafts, not automatically transferring albums, layouts, or orders. For an existing order, check which company charged you or sent the confirmation; that determines where to get support.

First, identify what you mean by an album, draft, or order

A Google Photos album is a collection of photos in your Google Photos account. Google documents creating a photo book from an album. A print-store draft is an unfinished project, while an order is a purchase already submitted for fulfillment. The provider transition announcement addresses print-book drafts; it does not promise that album contents, sharing, a book layout, or an order will migrate automatically.

Keep those distinctions in mind when checking your account: an absent print draft is not evidence that its source album was deleted. Check the album itself in Google Photos, and do not assume it has transferred or remained unchanged based only on what appears in the print store.

What changed, and where the new store is available

In an announcement dated September 30, 2026, the Google Photos Team said the US photo-printing service had transitioned to the Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store. The announcement said Canada and Europe would follow “in the coming weeks”; that was the status stated on that date, not a guarantee that rollout is still pending. Google currently lists individual photo prints, custom photo books, canvas prints and wall art, and personalized photo gifts in the Fujifilm store. Availability can depend on rollout and the account’s region. Google Photos Help: Get started with Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store

If you have an unfinished photo book

For US users, Google’s transition announcement says in-progress book drafts can be found in Print Store suggestions and recreated in the Fujifilm store with the same photo selection. It describes recreating a book, not automatic transfer of the original layout, crops, order, or payment.

  1. Open Google Photos and check Print Store suggestions for an in-progress book draft.
  2. If an eligible draft offers the Fujifilm store, recreate the book using the selected photos.
  3. Inspect the rebuilt book’s photo selection and crops before checkout. Google’s help directs users to review selections and crops before finalizing an order.
  4. Keep the Google Photos album as the source for the photo set if you need to create a book again; Google documents making a book from an album. Google Photos Help: Create a photo book

If you already placed an order

Use the charge or confirmation email to identify the provider. Google says newer orders are processed by Fujifilm and that it cannot modify or cancel those orders; for shipping, status, print quality, or refunds on new orders, contact Fujifilm directly. For older orders, use Google Photos order history and Google’s legacy-order support links. Keep your order number and confirmation email available. Older Google Photos Print Store order Google Photos order history and Google’s legacy-order help Google documents legacy support options, including order tracking and other qualifying order actions. These tools do not import a past book layout into the Fujifilm store.
New Fujifilm-processed order Fujifilm customer support Google says Fujifilm handles new-order questions about shipping, status, print quality, and refunds; Google cannot modify or cancel these orders.

For qualifying home-delivery orders, Google’s legacy-order instructions include cancellation within two hours. They also describe tracking, requesting a reprint for eligible missing or damaged orders, downloading a photo-book PDF, and starting a new draft from a past order. Eligibility and available actions depend on the order; use the relevant instructions in Google Photos Help.

Before disconnecting the Fujifilm store

Do not disconnect the Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store account until you have finished or preserved any store work you still need. Google says disconnection closes the store account, deletes its stored photos and data, and removes access to print drafts and past or in-progress work. This concerns data and projects in the Fujifilm store; it is not a statement that Google Photos albums are deleted. Google Photos Help: Get started with Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store

What happens to payment and selected photos

For orders through the Fujifilm store, Google says it shares your account email and only the photos you select for printing with Fujifilm. Fujifilm handles payment directly, and Google says it does not store card details for these orders. For billing or an order issue, use the confirmation and charge to determine which company to contact. Google Photos Help: Get started with Fujifilm for Google Photos Print Store
