What happens to event Pokémon after a Pokémon GO event ends? If you already caught one, the event ending does not by itself mean it disappears from your Pokémon inventory. What may end is your chance to encounter it, complete a related Collection Challenge, obtain a featured move, or use an event pass or item. The rules depend on the specific event.
Already caught or not caught yet: the key difference
A Pokémon in your inventory is different from an event spawn that you have not encountered. Pokémon GO’s inventory guidance identifies costume-wearing Pokémon as “Special Event Pokémon” and explains that you can find them by searching costume. That supports treating a caught costumed Pokémon as an inventory entry, rather than as a temporary spawn. The official guidance reviewed does not make a universal statement about every event-associated Pokémon or form. Pokémon GO inventory search help

If you have not caught the Pokémon, the event may be your only current route to it. Some event Pokémon appear only as research rewards or in Raid Battles, rather than as ordinary wild spawns. Once an event ends, check its announcement for whether another encounter route remains; do not assume the Pokémon will keep spawning or return on a known date. Pokémon GO Collection Challenge help

What can end when the event ends?
Collection Challenges
A Collection Challenge usually disappears when its corresponding event ends. Its instructions determine how each Pokémon must be obtained: for example, caught, hatched, evolved, traded, or earned from research or a raid. If a challenge matters to you, follow the listed method and finish before the event deadline rather than assuming any way of adding the Pokémon to your collection will count. Shiny encounter opportunities
Having a Pokémon does not guarantee that its shiny variant remains encounterable whenever you want it. Pokémon GO says some Pokémon, including Smeargle, Unown, and Meltan, can be encountered as shiny only during specific events. Check official event updates for whether a shiny is available; an event ending does not establish when, or whether, that opportunity will return. Pokémon GO shiny Pokémon help
Event-exclusive moves
Community Day has a stated post-event window: the featured Pokémon can learn its exclusive attack by evolving during the event or up to five hours after it ends. After that, the Help Center says the attack is added to the Elite TM. This is Community Day guidance, not a general rule for every Pokémon GO event, so check the specific announcement before planning an evolution. Pokémon GO Community Day help

Pass rewards and event items
GO Pass and Adventure Pass access is limited to a set duration. When a pass ends, it is no longer available and unclaimed rewards expire, although a grace period may apply and its length can vary by circumstance. Event items have their own terms: for example, the GO Wild Area: Global page says GO Safari Balls stop being accessible from inventory after that event concludes. These examples are not a universal rule for every pass or item; use the event’s own details to check what expires and when. GO Pass and Adventure Pass help · GO Wild Area: Global details

How to check a specific event
- Open the official event announcement and in-game event details. Confirm the event’s end time and any regional differences.
- Check how the Pokémon is obtained. Look for whether it is a wild encounter, raid, research reward, hatch, evolution, trade, or another specified method.
- Read challenge and move deadlines separately. A Pokémon may remain in your collection while the challenge or featured-move window closes.
- Review pass rewards and item rules. Claim rewards and use event-limited items before the stated deadline when the terms require it.
