What Happens to Dreaming City Triumphs, Collections, and Quests if the Destination Leaves?

The Dreaming City has not been announced for removal: Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault (DCV) page lists it as available in the content baseline for Update 9.7.0, dated June 9, 2026. If Bungie ever vaults it, its Triumph sets and Seals would become Legacy under Bungie’s stated policy; completed Triumphs would remain viewable, retired score would no longer count toward Active Triumph Score, and Titles already earned would remain equippable. Bungie has removed quests tied to vaulted content before, but it has not published a Dreaming City-specific plan for Collections or unfinished quests.

Is the Dreaming City leaving Destiny 2?

There is no removal announcement in the Bungie material cited here. Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault page lists the Dreaming City among available destinations in the content baseline for Update 9.7.0, dated June 9, 2026. The question is therefore hypothetical, not a description of a confirmed change.

The destination also remained available during the Year 5 transition. When Bungie announced that the Forsaken campaign and Tangled Shore would enter the DCV, it said, “The Dreaming City destination will continue to be available.” That statement described the 2022 transition, not a guarantee of indefinite availability. (Bungie’s Year 5 DCV announcement.)

What would happen to Dreaming City Triumphs and Seals?

Bungie’s stated rule is that Triumph sets and Seals associated with a destination become Legacy when that destination enters the DCV. Completed Triumphs and their earned score remain visible in Legacy menus, but that archived score no longer adds to Active Triumph Score. A Title already earned from a Legacy Seal remains available to equip. Bungie describes this behavior in its Year 4 Triumphs guidance and Update 3.0.0.1 notes.

  • Completed Triumphs: remain viewable in the Legacy archive.
  • Triumph score: the archived score remains displayed but does not count toward Active Triumph Score.
  • Earned Titles: remain equippable from Legacy Triumphs.
  • Unfinished Triumphs: Bungie’s cited policy does not promise they would remain completable after the destination becomes inaccessible.

Would Collections records and acquired items disappear?

Bungie’s broad DCV explanation concerns access to destination content, including destination collectibles and scannables. It does not specify a universal outcome for every item or record already on an account: for example, it does not say whether all previously acquired gear, lore entries, cosmetics, or Collections records would be retained or removed in a future Dreaming City transition.

Keep access and account records separate. A vaulted destination can make its activities and locations unavailable without, on the evidence cited here, establishing that every previously recorded item is erased. Bungie’s 2020 explanation says, “When a destination enters the DCV, its PvE content will no longer be available.” Its listed content includes story missions, strikes, raids, dungeons, patrols, vendors and related bounties, collectibles and scannables, destination activities, and free roaming or exploring Lost Sectors. (Bungie’s August 20, 2020 DCV explanation.)

Could unfinished Dreaming City quests be removed?

Yes, removal is a precedent, but not a confirmed forecast for Dreaming City quests. Before Year 5 began on February 22, 2022, Bungie said that bounties, missions, and quests from specified vaulted destinations, campaigns, and seasons would be removed from player inventories. The same notice said WANTED Bounties and Enemies Triumphs would move under the Tangled Shore Triumph area in the Legacy Archive. (Bungie’s Year 5 item notice.)

Bungie’s Year 7 and Year 8 notices also listed items and quests to be deprecated as part of their respective content transitions. These notices show why the precise handling must be checked in the announcement for a particular change; they do not establish what would happen to each Dreaming City quest or reward. (Year 7 notice; Year 8 notice.)

The cited material does not promise an alternate way to earn any particular Dreaming City quest reward if the destination were vaulted. If Bungie announces a transition, check that notice for quest inventory, Triumph, Collections, and reward handling. If a quest step depends on visiting the destination, complete it before the stated effective date if you want to avoid the risk of losing access.

Does the DCV mean destinations can never return?

No. Bungie describes the DCV as a continuing content model that cycles some destinations and activities out to make room for other experiences, with vaulted content potentially returning. Bungie’s August 2022 statement that Destiny 2 expansions would no longer be vaulted concerns expansions; it is not a promise that destinations or activities will never leave. The current DCV page and any future transition announcement are the relevant sources for destination status and specific player-facing consequences.
