The clearest rule is for PlayStation in the UK: immediately accessible preorder extras stop working when the preorder is cancelled. Microsoft, Steam, and physical retailers have different policies, and their published terms do not establish one outcome for every MW4 bonus.
Check these details before cancelling
- Where you ordered: Find the seller on your receipt. The rules for PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, Activision Store, and a physical retailer are not interchangeable.
- Your country: Store policies can vary by region. The PlayStation rule described below is from the UK policy.
- What has started: Check whether the main game has begun downloading or streaming. On PlayStation, that can affect refund eligibility.
- What you played: If you used Steam Advanced Access, that playtime counts toward Steam’s standard two-hour refund limit.
- Which bonus you used: Distinguish bonus content that was immediately available before launch from a code supplied by a physical retailer. The policies cited here do not establish a universal rule for all bonus types.

PlayStation: the download and the bonus are separate questions
For a UK PlayStation Store preorder, refund eligibility and bonus access are related but distinct. If the main game has not started downloading or streaming, a qualifying preorder may be eligible for cancellation and a refund under Sony’s timing rules. If the preorder included an extra that was immediately accessible, Sony says it stops working when you cancel. If the main product download or stream has started, a refund is generally unavailable unless the item is faulty.

Check the order and automatic-download settings before acting. For a purchase made outside the UK, consult the policy for your country rather than assuming the UK terms apply. Playing a beta is not, on the evidence available here, enough to conclude that a refund is automatically blocked; the stated PlayStation condition concerns the main product download or stream.

Steam: Advanced Access can affect a later refund
Steam’s standard policy allows a refund before release. After release, the general limit is a request within 14 days and less than two hours of playtime. For a game with Advanced Access, Steam counts time played during that period toward the two-hour limit. That may make a post-release refund harder to qualify for, even though it does not establish whether a particular MW4 bonus is removed.

Physical preorder: contact the retailer about codes
For a disc or other physical edition, start with the seller that took payment. Activision confirms physical editions through select retailers but does not set a shared cancellation policy for them. Ask the retailer about its refund deadline and whether a bonus code already supplied or redeemed remains usable; do not assume the digital-store rules cover a retail code.

- Identify the seller from your order confirmation and check the policy for the country where you bought the game.
- Tell support whether the main game has started downloading or streaming, and whether you used Advanced Access.
- Name the specific bonus and say whether it was already available, downloaded, redeemed, or delivered as a retailer code.
- Ask separately whether the order qualifies for a refund and whether the bonus entitlement or code will remain usable if the order is cancelled.
Activision describes MW4 editions and preorder incentives, including digital incentives and Vault Edition content, but does not announce a single bonus-revocation rule for every storefront or retail seller. The seller’s terms are therefore the deciding source for your order.
