As of October 4, 2026, Valley National Bank’s acquisition of Bluevine is announced but pending. Bluevine says accounts will continue operating as they do now until the deal closes. Valley expects a later transition of deposits held through Bluevine’s current banking partner, but has not published individual customer instructions or a fixed customer deadline.
Is the acquisition complete?
No. Valley National Bancorp and Bluevine entered into a merger agreement on September 27, 2026, and announced it on September 28. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions. Valley’s investor presentation projected a closing in early first quarter 2027; that is an expectation, not a confirmed closing date.

The $340 million aggregate consideration described in Valley’s SEC filing—approximately $255 million in cash and 6.3 million Valley common shares, subject to adjustments—is the purchase consideration between the companies. It is not a payment to customers or a measure of the value of their deposits.

What stays the same before closing?
Bluevine says “Nothing changes today as a result of this announcement.” Until the companies complete the transaction, the company says the following remain unchanged:

That is guidance for the period before closing, not a promise that terms will never change. Bluevine’s FAQ identifies Coastal Community Bank as its current provider of banking services; Bluevine is not itself a bank. The acquisition announcement does not instantly replace that current banking relationship.
What is expected to happen to deposits after closing?
Valley’s investor presentation says it anticipates ending Bluevine’s existing third-party banking-partner deposit program at closing and onboarding the related deposits to Valley Bank within 180 days. A note in the presentation separately describes onboarding in three to six months after closing, subject to transition provisions. These are approximate company-level projections, not individual account deadlines or instructions.

The presentation does not establish what any particular customer must do, or guarantee that no action will be needed after closing. Bluevine and Valley have not provided individual post-close transition steps in the statements covered here. Follow official customer communications for account-specific instructions when they are issued.
What could change or be added later?
Bluevine says future possibilities may include access to Valley’s network of more than 220 locations, Zelle, and additional credit products. These are examples of potential benefits, not features Bluevine says are available now or commitments with announced launch dates.

The available statements also do not set out final post-close customer terms or determine each customer’s deposit-insurance coverage after any migration. Bluevine’s current statement concerns eligible deposits and current coverage limits; individual coverage depends on the applicable account details and final arrangements.
