If you stop recharging a Movilnet prepaid line, its service and the number itself may eventually be at risk—but the available evidence does not establish a reliable current deadline. An older copy of a Movilnet contract says the company may terminate a line after 60 continuous days without a recharge; that is a warning in an unverified contract copy, not proof that every line is cancelled on day 60.
Does Movilnet cancel a prepaid line if you stop recharging?
It may restrict service or terminate the line, but do not assume the number remains reserved indefinitely. The only specific inactivity period identified is in a third-party-hosted copy of a Movilnet contract. Its Clause Five says that after 60 continuous days without a recharge, Movilnet may end the contract, refuse service and dispose of the assigned number. The copy’s current validity is unverified, and the language describes what Movilnet may do—not an automatic cancellation on the 60th day.

That means 60 days is a reason to check your line promptly, not a confirmed current grace period or a guarantee that service can be restored within that time. Movilnet’s current inactivity policy could not be established from the available official guidance.
Does prepaid balance validity protect the line?
No. Balance validity and the status of the service or phone number are separate matters. Article 44 of Venezuela’s telecom user-protection regulation says prepaid amounts for services charged by consumption remain valid until fully consumed. That rule addresses the prepaid amount; it does not specify how long an inactive Movilnet line stays active or recoverable.

Article 45 says an operator must provide a mechanism to refund a subscriber’s positive balance when the subscriber ends a prepaid contract. If you choose to terminate and still have a positive balance, ask Movilnet how to request that refund. Articles 44–46 of the regulation also address access to a record of at least the previous three months of prepaid consumption.

What to do if you have stopped recharging
- Check the line and balance. Use a customer channel that Movilnet currently offers to confirm whether the line is active and whether any balance remains. Its official information channel lists balance consultation among the services available through customer offices.
- Ask Movilnet about the specific number. If the line is suspended or unusable, contact Movilnet or visit a customer office. Ask whether the number is still assigned to your account, whether the line can be recovered, whether a balance remains and what steps or fees apply. The official channel lists assistance with line recovery and suspension at customer offices.
- Recharge only after confirming the line can accept it. Movilnet’s official channel lists recharges through its website, banking platforms, Banco de Venezuela SMS and Sistema Patria. Confirm that the option is currently available for your line, then keep the transaction confirmation.
- Request a balance refund if you terminate. If you end the prepaid contract while it has a positive balance, ask Movilnet for the refund mechanism required under Article 45.
