Rockstar has not published a comprehensive list of cut features, so claims about hurricanes, dual wielding, prone movement and other systems should not be presented as confirmed cuts.
What features did Rockstar cut from GTA 6?
The grocery-shopping and fridge-restocking mechanic is the strongest specific cut reported in the material available. GamesRadar reports that Nelson said Rockstar removed it because it complicated the mechanics and the team simplified the system. This is an attributed account of a development change—not a Rockstar-published announcement or a full inventory of content removed from the game.

Rockstar’s official GTA VI page presents information about the game but does not provide a complete cut-feature list. The public record therefore supports one specific reported removal, not a count of everything the studio may have considered or abandoned.
Why was grocery shopping removed?
As quoted by GamesRadar, Nelson described the design trade-off this way: “Sometimes you need things to feel realistic to help with that sense of immersion, and conversely, sometimes you need to forego realism in favor of what will be most convenient for the player – realism can help greatly with immersion, but too much can feel tedious, so we try to find the right balance.”

He also said: “Sometimes drawing an amusing or poignant parallel to some aspect of the real world is helpful in supporting the experience, and sometimes it’s better to ignore or omit certain aspects of reality because they just don’t make sense with the experience we are trying to create. Everything we do is done to support the sense of being immersed in a world, connecting to its characters and the narrative we are weaving through it.”
Those comments explain a general approach to realism and convenience as GamesRadar attributes it to Nelson; they do not establish a detailed design history for every GTA VI system. GamesRadar also reports Nelson discussed the refueling quick-time event as brief, saying “you can’t complain,” while adding “we’ll see what people say.” That comment concerns refueling and is not evidence that another feature was cut.

Were hurricanes, dual wielding or prone movement cut?
These claims are not confirmed by Rockstar in the sources available. A secondary rumor analysis published August 6, 2026 discusses the following circulating claims, but does not establish that Rockstar planned and then removed them:

- A redesigned cover system
- Portable music or radio while walking
- Player-controlled prone movement
Call these unconfirmed rumors, not confirmed cuts. The distinction matters: a feature’s absence from a trailer does not prove it was removed, and a leak or screenshot may show development material without proving a final design decision. The available rumor analysis also does not establish who originated each claim, which build it refers to, or whether the feature ever existed in GTA VI.

How to tell a reported cut from a rumor
A convincing claim that a feature was cut needs to establish two things: first, reliable evidence that Rockstar developed or planned the feature for GTA VI; second, evidence that the studio later abandoned it. Evidence for only one part—such as a concept, leak, screenshot, or feature missing from marketing—does not prove both. This is a practical standard for weighing claims, not a rule Rockstar has published.
- Attributed report: GamesRadar attributes the grocery-mechanic account and its rationale to Nelson.
- Official game information: Rockstar’s public pages establish current product details, but do not list all removed features.
- Unconfirmed claim: The hurricane, dual-wielding, cover, portable-radio and prone-movement claims are not confirmed as planned or removed by Rockstar in the sources available.

What Rockstar has officially announced about GTA VI
Rockstar currently lists GTA VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a planned release date of November 19, 2026, on its official game page. Those are product details, not confirmation of any rumored cut feature.
