Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Collection is a PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 compilation built around the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The package also includes Mirror of Fate HD, two story DLC chapters called Reverie and Resurrection, and a playable demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The original game is on the physical disc; Konami says the other listed content is supplied through voucher code(s).
That format is the key buying issue today. A sealed copy and a used copy may not provide the same access, because the publisher’s historical product descriptions do not establish that an already-redeemed voucher can still be used.

Everything listed in the collection
Konami’s product descriptions identify four content groups. They are not four complete retail games: one is the full original title, one is a separate HD chapter, one is two add-on chapters for the first game, and one is a demo for the sequel.
| Included item | What it is | How it is supplied |
|---|---|---|
| Castlevania: Lords of Shadow | The complete original game, starring Gabriel Belmont | Physical package item |
| Reverie and Resurrection | Two downloadable story chapters for the first game | Voucher code(s) |
| Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD | The next chapter, following Gabriel Belmont’s descendants | Voucher code(s) |
| Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 demo | A playable preview in which Dracula is controllable | Voucher code(s) |
Konami’s North American announcement describes the compilation as containing the original game physically, with the remaining material made available through an exclusive digital voucher code or codes. Its European English product page uses the same basic arrangement. Neither source specifies whether every region received one code, several codes, or identical redemption instructions.
#1 Best Overall
- Genre: Games Collection
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: the complete original game
The disc contains the first Lords of Shadow game in full. Konami identifies Gabriel Belmont as its protagonist and presents it as the opening chapter of this story arc. If the voucher has expired, been redeemed, or is missing, this disc-based game is the portion that should still be present in a complete physical package.
The word “complete” here refers to the original game’s main release, not to every extra associated with the compilation. The two named story expansions are listed separately and are not described as being on the disc.
Reverie and Resurrection: two add-on chapters
These are downloadable expansions for the first game. Konami lists both by name as part of the collection, and says they are obtained with voucher code(s). They should therefore be treated as additional story content rather than as independent full games.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesBecause the publisher does not document the number or type of codes for every regional edition, inspect the insert and the packaging for the exact redemption information. A listing that shows only the disc, without the original code insert, does not establish that these chapters are included in usable form.
Mirror of Fate HD: the next story chapter
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate HD continues the narrative through Gabriel Belmont’s descendants. It is an HD version and is supplied digitally through voucher code(s), according to Konami’s collection descriptions.
It is easy to misread the collection as a two-disc set containing two full games. That is not what the publisher’s format description says: the original Lords of Shadow is the physical item, while Mirror of Fate HD is among the code-delivered additions.
Lords of Shadow 2 demo: a preview, not the sequel
The package includes a playable demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Konami describes the preview as allowing the player to control Dracula. A demo is a limited sample of the later game; it is not the full Lords of Shadow 2 release and should not be counted as another complete game in the box.

This distinction matters when comparing listings or estimating what can be played without buying another title. The collection gives access to a preview of the sequel, not the sequel itself.
How the physical and digital portions work
The package has a split format:
- On the physical disc: the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
- Through voucher code(s): Reverie, Resurrection, Mirror of Fate HD, and the Lords of Shadow 2 demo.
The historical announcements call the code delivery “exclusive” but do not provide a universal code count. A European box and a North American box may use different inserts or redemption procedures, so do not infer the exact arrangement from a photograph of another region’s edition.
Code-based extras also depend on the platform and region for which the code was issued. Before attempting redemption, match the disc, console account region, and voucher region. If a seller cannot show the code card or confirm its unused status, regard the digital contents as unverified rather than as guaranteed.
PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions
Konami lists two platforms: PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The core content list is presented for both systems, but a buyer still needs to select the edition that matches the console and verify the regional packaging.

|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 3 | PlayStation 3 | Disc format, regional compatibility, code insert, and whether the voucher was redeemed |
| Xbox 360 | Xbox 360 | Disc format, regional compatibility, code insert, and whether the voucher was redeemed |
The sources do not establish modern backward-compatibility support, digital-store availability, or whether a particular code can still be redeemed. Those are separate questions from what Konami originally packed with the product.
Release dates and historical launch pricing
The European English product page gives 8 November 2013 as the release date. Konami’s North American announcement is dated 5 November 2013 and says the collection was then available in North and South America. These dates describe regional releases; they should not be treated as one worldwide launch date.
Konami’s German European announcement gave a suggested retail price of approximately €29.95. The North American announcement listed $39.99. Both figures are historical launch prices, not current prices for new or used copies. A second-hand seller’s price can vary with condition, region, completeness, and the presence of an unused voucher.

How much content is there?
Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. stated in its 2013 German European announcement that the collection offered more than 40 hours of gameplay. This is a publisher promotional figure, not an independently measured completion-time test. It should be read as an estimate for the package’s overall playable material rather than a guaranteed number of hours for every player.
Actual time will depend on whether the voucher content is accessible, how much optional play a person undertakes, and whether the player finishes the original game, both downloadable chapters, and the separate HD chapter. The demo should not be interpreted as adding a full sequel’s worth of play time.

The disc alone confirms only the physical portion. Use this checklist before paying for a used listing:
- Identify the platform. Confirm that the case and disc are for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, whichever console you own.
- Check the region. Compare the game’s regional edition with the account and store region you intend to use for redemption.
- Look for the voucher insert. Ask for a clear photograph of every paper insert, not only the front cover.
- Ask whether the code was redeemed. “Included” can mean that the card is physically present, not that the code remains valid.
- Request the seller’s return terms. Code validity cannot be established from the publisher’s old packaging statement alone.
- Separate confirmed from unconfirmed content. Treat the original disc as confirmed when present; treat the four code-delivered items as conditional until the code is verified.
Konami’s historical announcements do not promise that codes in used copies remain unused or redeemable today. No current code-validity guarantee, current retailer stock report, or current market price is established by those announcements. The safest description of a used copy is therefore “disc included; digital extras subject to voucher availability” unless the seller provides stronger, copy-specific evidence.
What the collection does not include
- It does not include the full Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 game; only a demo is listed.
- The publisher does not describe Reverie, Resurrection, or Mirror of Fate HD as additional physical discs.
- The product descriptions do not guarantee that a used voucher can be redeemed years after release.
- There is no publisher-supported basis in these product descriptions for assuming a current digital-store listing, modern-console compatibility, or a single worldwide code format.
Who should choose this collection?
The compilation is most useful for someone who wants the original Lords of Shadow and the connected story material in one 2013-era package, provided the digital codes are usable. It also gives newcomers a way to start with Gabriel Belmont’s chapter before moving into the descendant-focused Mirror of Fate HD material.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Existing fans may value the bundled DLC and the sequel preview, but a used copy with an exhausted code can reduce the purchase to the physical first game. Decide which of those outcomes you are paying for before comparing listings.
Konami producer and studio head Dave Cox described the release this way: “We think this is an excellent opportunity for newcomers and fans alike to get the full Castlevania: Lords of Shadow experience, engaging with the series in one ultimate compilation,”. That is promotional language, but it accurately reflects the intended structure: one physical starting point surrounded by digitally delivered additions.
A practical buying decision
Use the following rule when evaluating a listing:
- Buy confidently for the base game: the correct platform disc is present and that is all you need.
- Buy for the complete bundle only with evidence: the listing shows the voucher insert and gives a credible, copy-specific indication that the code has not been redeemed.
- Pass or negotiate: the seller cannot identify the platform, omits the code information, or advertises the demo as the full sequel.
That approach keeps the collection’s original contents separate from assumptions about present-day redemption. It also prevents a common mistake: paying a premium for “complete” packaging when only the disc is certain to work.
