It referred to the combined bandwidth of Driver Easy’s download servers after the company added more high-quality servers—not to a 3,700 Mbps internet connection for every customer.
Current Driver Easy pages publish different figures, including a dedicated 1000M connection and a listed Pro download range of 500KB/s to 20MB/s. Those measurements describe present service specifications and should not be treated as interchangeable with the older 3,700 Mbps announcement.

What the 3,700 Mbps figure actually described
In an early-2016 announcement, Driver Easy said its download bandwidth had increased to 3,700 Mbps. In networking terms, Mbps means megabits per second. The number represented capacity available across the company’s download infrastructure as a whole.
“In the beginning of 2016, we are excited to announce that the download bandwidth of Driver Easy has increased to 3700Mbps.”

Aggregate capacity is different from an individual download
An aggregate figure adds the capacity of multiple servers or connections that can serve many users at once. It does not mean one computer receives 3,700 Mbps during a driver download. A single session is limited by the user’s internet service, local network, Wi-Fi conditions, computer, route to the server and the rate available from the specific server at that moment.
To put the unit in perspective, 3,700 Mbps is 3.7 gigabits per second, or about 462.5 megabytes per second if converted mathematically by dividing by eight. That conversion describes the size of the aggregate number; it is not a promise that one customer can transfer 462.5 MB/s.

Why Driver Easy increased its bandwidth
The company linked the increase to customer growth and to adding more servers. The announcement says, “To get higher download bandwidth, we added several high quality servers.” It also explains the intended effect: more servers distribute requests, reducing network-traffic and overload-related download problems.
What adding servers can improve
- Capacity during busy periods: requests can be spread across more infrastructure instead of concentrating on one endpoint.
- Resilience to overload: an overloaded server is less likely to become the only path for every download.
- Concurrent downloads: more users can be served at the same time without the total service becoming saturated as quickly.
Those are service-level goals. They do not remove bottlenecks elsewhere, such as a slow home connection or a congested wireless network.
How the published figures changed over time
Driver Easy has used several measurements over the years. The table separates the historical aggregate announcement from current, user-facing specifications.

Is Driver Easy really downloading at 3,700 Mbps?
Not as a guaranteed speed for each user. The 2016 statement tells you how much combined capacity Driver Easy said its download infrastructure could provide. A customer might receive a much smaller rate because the customer’s broadband plan, router, Wi-Fi link, network congestion, server path or computer is slower than the service’s combined capacity.
Why the current 500KB/s–20MB/s range looks smaller
The current feature page expresses Pro download performance in kilobytes or megabytes per second, while the old announcement used megabits per second. Bits and bytes are not the same unit: eight bits equal one byte. If decimal units are assumed, 500KB/s is roughly 4 Mbps and 20MB/s is roughly 160 Mbps. Those conversions are only for understanding scale; the published range is not a guarantee that every file or customer will reach either endpoint.
Why 1000M is not the same as 3,700 Mbps
The current product page’s dedicated 1000M connection is another service specification. It may describe a dedicated connection available to the service, whereas 3,700 Mbps described the combined bandwidth announced in 2016. Without a statement that both numbers use the same infrastructure boundary and measurement method, treating 1000M as a replacement for, or direct continuation of, 3,700 Mbps would be misleading.

How to measure the speed you actually receive
You can check your own result without assuming that an infrastructure headline is your personal line speed. Use the same conditions for each comparison.
- Record the baseline. Note your internet plan’s advertised downstream rate and whether the computer is connected by Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Stop other large downloads and streaming sessions before testing.
- Start one Driver Easy download. Observe the rate shown by the application over at least 30 seconds rather than judging it from the first few seconds, when a connection may still be ramping up.
- Check Windows’ network counter. Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager, select Performance, then choose Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Compare the live receive rate with the application’s number. - Normalize the units. Multiply a megabytes-per-second reading by eight to estimate megabits per second. For example, 10MB/s is approximately 80 Mbps. Do not compare a bytes-per-second display with a megabits-per-second plan without converting.
- Repeat under a second connection. If possible, test once over Ethernet and once over Wi-Fi, or compare two different times of day. A large difference points to the local link or congestion rather than the historical 3,700 Mbps figure.
- Check the software build. Compare your installed version with the recent versions listed on Driver Easy’s official blog. The blog lists version 7.2.2.6490 on October 13, 2026; availability can vary by release timing and operating-system edition.
- Keep evidence for support. Write down the date, time, region, connection type, displayed units, approximate rate and driver package being downloaded. That information is more useful for diagnosing a recurring problem than quoting the old aggregate headline.
What to do when a download is slower than expected
Rule out local congestion first
- Pause cloud synchronization, game updates and other large transfers on the same network.
- Move closer to the wireless access point or test with Ethernet to separate Wi-Fi limitations from internet-service limitations.
- Restart the router and computer if the connection has been unstable for an extended period.
Separate an ISP limit from a service issue
If other downloads are also slow, compare the result with the downstream rate in your broadband plan. A Driver Easy download cannot exceed the practical limit of the connection carrying it. If unrelated services run at normal speed while Driver Easy alone remains slow, record several attempts and the times they occurred; a temporary route or server-load issue may be involved even though the service has more aggregate capacity than it did in 2016.

Check for unit or display misunderstandings
A rate shown in KB/s will appear numerically much lower than a rate shown in Mbps even when the transfers are equivalent. Verify whether the application, Windows and your ISP use bits or bytes before concluding that the connection is underperforming.

Do not infer a hardware fault from one reading
One short download is not enough to diagnose a defective adapter or router. Repeat the test with a second package, a different connection type or a different time. Only after a consistent pattern should you investigate a network adapter, router or operating-system problem.
What the announcement does—and does not—tell you
- It does tell you: Driver Easy reported 3,700 Mbps of combined download bandwidth in early 2016 and said the increase came from adding several high-quality servers.
- It does tell you: the stated goal was to reduce network-traffic and overload-related download problems as demand grew.
- It does not tell you: that a home internet plan, Wi-Fi adapter or single Driver Easy session can transfer at 3,700 Mbps.
- It does not tell you: that the 2016 number remains the current specification. Current pages publish a dedicated 1000M connection and a 500KB/s–20MB/s Pro download range instead.
- It does not tell you: that every customer receives the same speed, because no per-user guarantee is attached to the aggregate announcement.
Current product context
Driver Easy is downloadable Windows software with paid Pro plans. The current Pro product page describes high-speed driver downloads, a dedicated 1000M internet connection, a seven-day trial and annual plans, and claims more than three million customers worldwide. Those commercial details explain why the company publishes service-capacity information, but they do not change the meaning of the historical 3,700 Mbps statement.
The official blog’s listing of Driver Easy 7.2.2.6490 on October 13, 2026 provides a date-specific reference point for the software version. Because products and infrastructure can change, use current product pages and the installed application’s version information when evaluating today’s performance rather than relying on a bandwidth announcement from 2016.
