RACQ’s product summary advertises cover for loss or damage associated with storm, flood, hail, theft, accident, vandalism, and fire. It also describes up to $20 million in legal liability at the insured address, new-for-old replacement of home contents, and a lifetime guarantee on repairs completed by RACQ’s supplier network. RACQ’s cover explainer lists 14 insured events: animal damage, earthquake, explosion, fire, flood, impact, leaks, lightning, riots, storm, storm surge, theft, tsunami, and vandalism. Contents options are not all standard
RACQ describes “Advanced Cover” as an optional, extra-premium contents add-on for accidental damage, with examples including liquid spilled on electronics, a dropped television, or artwork knocked over. Motor burnout is also described as optional, for domestic electrical items up to 10 years old. Check the policy documents for the precise scope and eligibility before treating either benefit as part of a quote.

Which policy documents apply to your cover?
RACQ versions its Household Insurance documents according to the cover start date. Its document index identifies Household Insurance PDS RHHB2.1224 for renewals and new covers starting from 9 December 2024. How to judge whether RACQ is a good fit

- Choose the relevant cover type. Establish whether you need building, contents, or both, and whether you are an owner-occupier, renter, or landlord.
- Check insured events and exclusions. Read the applicable PDS and SPDS for definitions, conditions, exclusions, and any special limits relevant to your property and belongings.

- Separate included benefits from add-ons. Verify the price and wording for options such as accidental damage and motor burnout, and note the excesses that apply.
- Compare liability limits and repair arrangements. Check the policy terms, not just headline amounts or descriptions of the supplier network.
- Get comparable live quotes. Use the same address, sums insured, excesses, and optional benefits for RACQ and any alternatives you are considering.
- Assess claims information carefully. Distinguish formal policy terms from individual customer accounts and insurer-published satisfaction figures.
What do the available claims figures and reviews tell you?
