The right price depends on your camera: Polaroid film formats are not universally interchangeable. Only the SX-70 product information reviewed here states the pack’s image count, making it possible to calculate a cost per picture for that format.

| Film format | Observed standard listing | Bundle example | Compatibility and cost-per-picture evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Color i-Type | $18.99 per pack | Five-pack listed at $84.99 on Polaroid’s subscription page, about $17 per pack | For compatible i-Type cameras. The pages reviewed do not establish the standard pack’s image count, so a per-picture cost cannot be calculated from them. |
| Color 600 | $20.99 per pack | Five-pack listed at $92.99, about $18.60 per pack | Made for vintage 600 cameras and also described by Polaroid as compatible with i-Type cameras. The page material reviewed does not establish an image count for this calculation. |
| Color SX-70 | $21.99 per pack | Five-pack listed at $94.99, about $19 per pack; the product page displayed it as out of stock | Eight photos per pack. That works out to about $2.75 per exposure at the single-pack price and about $2.37 using the full five-pack price. |
| Polaroid Go | $21.99 for a double pack in the catalog | Go color double-pack x5 listed at $99.99 on the subscription page | Uses a separate Go film format. The materials reviewed do not establish the image count needed for a per-picture comparison; a double pack is not a single film pack or a single frame. |
Prices and offers can change, and SX-70 film may be intermittently out of stock, according to its Polaroid US product page. The Polaroid US film catalog lists the formats and standard prices; bundle examples are shown on Polaroid’s film subscription page. These are direct-store listings, not independent market averages or delivered-cost quotes.

Film compatibility matters more than finding the lowest listed pack price. Polaroid identifies i-Type film for i-Type cameras, 600 film for vintage 600 cameras and as compatible with i-Type cameras, dedicated SX-70 film for SX-70 cameras, and separate Go film for Go cameras. The SX-70 product details also name I-2 compatibility.
#1 Best Overall
- 24 INSTANT PHOTOS IN THE ICONIC WHITE FRAME: triple pack Polaroid Color i-Type Film with Polaroid's signature white border. Capture and create the beautifully imperfect in dreamlike color, nostalgic texture and one-of-a-kind Polaroid style.
- COLOR INSTANT FILM FOR POLAROID I-TYPE CAMERAS: compatible with Polaroid Now, Now+, Flip and I-2 cameras, plus the Polaroid Lab printer. Polaroid i-Type film is made in the last Polaroid film factory in the world.
- 100% POLAROID CHEMISTRY: every photo develops with rich color, unique texture and the iconic Polaroid aesthetic. This Polaroid camera film creates results that are unpredictable, imperfect and impossible to reproduce.
- POLAROID CAMERA FILM LOVES LIGHT: the more light in your shot, the better your photo. Always shoot in bright light or use your camera's flash, your film will thank you for it.
- DEVELOP IN 10-15 MINUTES: photos appear blank at first - that's part of the magic. Shield them from light and place them face down while they develop to reveal the iconic Polaroid image.
- i-Type camera: Choose i-Type film; Polaroid also describes 600 film as compatible with i-Type cameras.
- Vintage 600 camera: Choose 600 film. The compatibility information reviewed does not establish that i-Type film will power a vintage 600 camera, so do not assume compatibility works in both directions.
- SX-70 or I-2: Check the dedicated SX-70 film listing for the stated camera compatibility.
- Polaroid Go: Choose Go film rather than assuming another format will fit or work.
Match the exact camera model to the film listing before buying. The prices above are useful only after the format is right.
How much does each Polaroid picture cost?
When the pack’s exposure count is known, divide the price paid by the number of exposures: cost per exposure = film price ÷ exposures in the pack or packs. For SX-70 film, Polaroid states that a pack contains eight photos. At the observed $21.99 single-pack price, $21.99 ÷ 8 is about $2.75 per exposure, before tax, shipping, or frames lost to mistakes.

- Create- Every photo you create is rich, textured, and unique. Unpredictable, imperfect, and impossible to reproduce, just like you.
For the listed five-pack at $94.99, the calculation is $94.99 ÷ 5 ÷ 8, or about $2.37 per exposure. That figure uses the full bundle price rather than rounding the price per pack first. The product page displayed the five-pack as out of stock when reviewed, so this is a listed-price calculation, not a promise that the offer is available.

Estimate your own monthly film spend
Once you have a supported per-exposure cost for your camera’s film, multiply it by the number of frames you expect to take. The formula is:
Monthly film spend ≈ frames per month × compatible-film cost per exposure

Do multi-packs or a subscription lower the cost?
The observed bundle listings reduce the listed price per pack compared with the corresponding single-pack price: the 600 five-pack works out to about $18.60 per pack versus $20.99 singly, and the i-Type five-pack listed on Polaroid’s subscription page works out to about $17 per pack versus $18.99 singly. The SX-70 five-pack is about $19 per pack versus $21.99 singly, although its page displayed the offer as out of stock. These are comparisons of the stated Polaroid US listings, not proof that a bundle is the cheapest option across retailers or after delivery charges.

- MINI FILM ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH POLAROID GO: The Polaroid Go only uses Polaroid Go format films. The same Polaroid you know and love, only smaller. Go Film is not compatible with full size Polaroid I-Type Now Cameras
- POLAROID GO FILM DOUBLE PACK: Each double pack includes 16 color instant photos framed in glossy white and ready to take on the world. For use exclusively with the Polaroid Go camera.
- STORE CHILLED, SHOOT WARM: Temperature affects how the film works. Keep it stored cold in the fridge, but never freeze it. Ideally you should let it adjust to room temperature before you use it.
- SHOOT WITH LIGHT: The more light in your shot, the better your photo will turn out. Instant film loves light, especially natural light. Use the flash for all your indoor photos.
- DEVELOP IN THE DARK: All photos appear blank at first. They’re most sensitive during this time, so don’t bend or shake them. Shield them from the light and place them face down for 6 minutes as they develop.
Polaroid’s subscription page describes recurring deliveries at a 4-, 8-, or 12-week cadence and says customers can skip a delivery or cancel at any time. It lists i-Type five-packs at $84.99, triple packs at $52.99, and Go color double-pack x5 at $99.99. Treat a subscription as a delivery convenience with visible bundle pricing, not as proof of the lowest total cost; check the current offer, compatible format, cadence, and checkout total before committing.
What these prices do—and do not—cover
The figures here cover film listings and the bundle examples shown on Polaroid’s US pages on October 7, 2026. They do not establish the cost of a camera, repairs, accessories, tax, shipping, or a typical person’s yearly film spending. A realistic total depends on which camera and film you use, how many frames you take, the price you pay, and how many exposures are usable.
