The HiSilicon Kirin 9000S is an octa-core applications/baseband processor identified inside Huawei’s Mate 60 Pro. TechInsights’ teardown analysis attributes its fabrication to SMIC’s 7nm N+2 process; that is an analyst finding, not a Huawei-published process specification. Geekbench’s public Mate 60 Pro page displays 1,070 single-core and 2,853 multi-core results, but these are database figures—not controlled chip-only test results.
What is the Kirin 9000S?
The Kirin 9000S is a HiSilicon mobile applications/baseband processor. TechInsights identified it as the octa-core chip in the Huawei Mate 60 Pro in its Mate 60 Pro teardown. This establishes the processor’s presence in that handset; it does not amount to a complete specification sheet issued by Huawei.

What specifications are established?
| Item | What the available evidence establishes |
|---|---|
| Chip | HiSilicon Kirin 9000S, described by TechInsights as an octa-core applications/baseband processor in the Mate 60 Pro. |
| Manufacturing process | TechInsights attributes it to SMIC 7nm N+2, which it describes as the foundry’s second-generation 7nm process. This is a teardown analyst’s process finding, not an official Huawei specification. |
| 5G capability | TechInsights’ RF team reported that the Mate 60 Pro was 5G capable, while it did not appear to support the latest 3GPP Release 17 specifications. |
The 7nm N+2 label describes a foundry process designation. It should not be treated as a direct measurement of performance or as a basis for comparing process nodes across manufacturers. TechInsights Vice Chair Dan Hutcheson said the chip demonstrated technical progress by China’s semiconductor industry without EUV lithography tools. The statement is his assessment of the process finding, not a Huawei claim. See TechInsights’ process analysis and its process summary.

The sources available here do not establish a complete manufacturer-confirmed CPU/GPU specification table. In particular, CPU core names and frequencies, GPU architecture, and detailed memory support are not confirmed. Precise values for those fields should not be presented as settled specifications without a reliable source.

Is the Kirin 9000S 5G?
TechInsights’ RF team found the Mate 60 Pro 5G capable, but said it did not appear to support the latest 3GPP Release 17 specifications. That finding concerns the handset’s radio capability; it is not a full modem datasheet. TechInsights also noted that Huawei did not mention 5G at the phone’s launch. The device and RF findings are described in the teardown analysis.

They are device database results, not a controlled chip-only test. The listing does not establish matching software builds, handset configurations, thermal states, or test conditions, so the scores should not be read as a definitive measure of the chip’s performance in every phone or workload.

How does it compare with the Mate 40 Pro?
The same Geekbench device listing displays a 3,401 multi-core result for the Huawei Mate 40 Pro / Kirin 9000. That is an indicative database snapshot, not a controlled comparison: the cited page does not establish that both results were produced under matching software, thermal, or handset conditions.

What the scores do—and do not—say
The figures offer a snapshot of CPU benchmark submissions associated with these handset listings. They do not establish graphics performance, sustained speed under load, or a reliable rank against current rival processors. UL Benchmarks’ Mate 60 Pro page explains that its popularity rating is based on benchmark results submitted in the previous 30 days and updates daily; that is aggregation context, not a controlled cross-chip performance result.
A meaningful broader comparison would need results from the same repeatable CPU and graphics tests, alongside matched software builds, sustained-load thermal behavior, and handset configurations. The available figures support a CPU database snapshot only, so they cannot be used to infer the Kirin 9000S GPU’s standing.

What phone uses the Kirin 9000S?
The handset directly identified with the chip in the cited teardown is the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. The available evidence supports that device association; it does not establish a standalone consumer Kirin 9000S product or provide current information about handset availability, software support, network bands by region, or seller condition.
