In brief: The documented XREAL One Pro has 1920×1080 pixels for each eye, a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a 57° field of view (FOV), and native three-degrees-of-freedom (3DoF) tracking from its integrated X1 chip. Resolution controls detail, refresh rate controls how often the image updates, FOV controls how wide the virtual image appears, and 3DoF controls how the image responds when you rotate your head. XREAL’s first-party material consistently names this product One Pro; “One Pro Plus” appears in some secondary coverage, but a distinct, officially documented Plus model is not established. Check the exact retail listing before buying.

First, resolve the “One Pro Plus” name

XREAL’s launch announcement, product materials and user documentation identify the glasses as XREAL One Pro. A recent Tom’s Guide article uses “Xreal One Pro Plus,” but the first-party specifications available for this article describe One Pro rather than a separately documented Plus edition. That means the figures below should be treated as One Pro specifications unless the listing you are considering explicitly identifies a different model.

This distinction matters because retailers sometimes add regional, bundle or informal “Plus” wording. Before ordering, verify the model name printed in the listing, the included accessories, supported display modes and the warranty region. Do not assume that a “Plus” suffix means higher resolution, a wider FOV or additional tracking unless those details are stated for that exact SKU.

Resolution: 1920×1080 per eye

What the number means

Resolution is the number of pixels used to draw the image. The One Pro is specified at 1920×1080 pixels per eye, also described as 1080p Full HD. The left display receives its own 1920×1080 grid and the right display receives another 1920×1080 grid. It is not one 1920×1080 canvas divided between both eyes.

Per-eye resolution is the useful figure for glasses because each eye sees a separate display. Text, interface elements and fine details are rendered on each panel, while your brain combines the two views into a single scene. A specification that merely says “1080p” without saying whether it is per eye or total is incomplete; in this case, XREAL’s manual and technical documentation make the per-eye qualification explicit.

What you will notice

  • Small text can be clearer than on a lower-resolution wearable display, provided the source is sending a sufficiently sharp image and the glasses are positioned correctly.
  • Resolution does not determine the physical size of the virtual screen. A large screen can still use the same 1920×1080 grid.
  • Resolution does not determine smoothness. A 1080p image can update at 60Hz or 120Hz; those are separate properties.

Resolution and source devices

The glasses can only show the signal supplied by the connected device. A USB-C source with DisplayPort video output must support the desired resolution and refresh mode; the glasses cannot create extra pixels when the source is outputting a lower mode. If a phone, tablet, laptop or handheld offers a mode-selection panel, choose a compatible 1920×1080 mode when available and confirm that the device is actually driving an external display rather than providing power only.

Refresh rate: up to 120Hz

What 120Hz describes

Refresh rate is the number of times the display can update each second. “Up to 120Hz” means the One Pro’s panel is capable of refreshing as often as 120 times per second when the source, cable and selected mode support it. It is a maximum capability, not a promise that every app or game will run at 120 frames per second.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Motion generally looks smoother at 120Hz than at 60Hz. Scrolling text, turning your head while viewing an anchored screen and games with high frame-rate output can appear more fluid, with less perceived stutter. XREAL’s launch release associates the X1 system’s approximately 3ms motion-to-photon latency at 120Hz with a stable anchored or floating screen. That is a first-party claim for the specified operating condition, not an independent laboratory measurement.

Refresh rate is not frame rate

A display refreshing at 120Hz may show the same frame more than once if the source renders at 60 frames per second. Conversely, a source that renders 120 frames per second cannot make the glasses display 120Hz if the selected connection mode is limited to 60Hz. The effective result is determined by the complete chain:

  • Source rendering: how many frames the phone, computer or console produces.
  • Output mode: the resolution and refresh rate negotiated over USB-C DisplayPort or another compatible connection.
  • Glasses mode: the display mode selected by the glasses and their firmware.

When troubleshooting, check all three rather than changing only an in-game frame-rate setting.

Field of view: 57 degrees

FOV is an angle, not a pixel count

Field of view describes how wide the virtual image appears from your viewing position. XREAL lists the One Pro at 57° FOV, an angular measurement across the visible image. A wider FOV lets the virtual screen occupy more of your peripheral vision; it does not add pixels or increase the panel resolution.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Because the same 1920×1080 grid is spread across a 57° angle, each pixel covers a particular portion of that angle. A narrower-FOV display could place the same number of pixels into a smaller angle, potentially making individual interface elements appear denser. FOV and resolution therefore answer different questions: FOV tells you how wide the image is, while resolution tells you how finely it is sampled.

Putting 57° into context

XREAL also advertises a 171-inch-equivalent screen projection when viewed from 4 metres. “Equivalent” describes the apparent angular size of the virtual screen compared with a conventional screen at that distance; it does not mean the glasses contain a literal 171-inch panel. Your perceived size will vary with fit, eye position, content and the screen mode you select.

A wider FOV can make games, films and large desktop windows feel less like a small rectangle floating in front of you. It can also place more image near the edge of your usable view, where optical alignment and eye position matter more. FOV alone does not guarantee immersion, sharpness or comfort.

3DoF: three degrees of freedom

The three movements

Three degrees of freedom means the system measures rotational movement around three axes:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Yaw: turning your head left or right.
  • Pitch: looking up or down.
  • Roll: tilting your head toward either shoulder.

With these measurements, the glasses can make a virtual screen appear fixed in space as you look around. XREAL calls this an Anchor experience. A Follow mode allows the screen to move more gently with your viewing direction instead of remaining rigidly fixed in one location.

What 3DoF does not measure

3DoF tracks orientation, not position. It does not know that you have walked two metres forward, moved sideways, reached toward an object or placed your hand in a particular location. Those capabilities require positional sensing, commonly described as six degrees of freedom (6DoF), and may involve cameras or other sensors.

Therefore, 3DoF is well suited to watching a screen that stays in place while you turn your head, but it is not the same as room-scale tracking or hand tracking. A 3DoF screen can remain visually stable during head rotation without understanding the geometry of the room.

Native 3DoF and the X1 chip

XREAL says the X1 spatial co-processing chip is built into the One Series glasses and provides native 3DoF. Compatible USB-C video sources therefore do not need a separate spatial-computing adapter merely to obtain the glasses’ basic anchored or following screen behavior.

Optional accessories can add different functions. XREAL Eye and Beam Pro workflows may provide camera-based capabilities or a richer spatial-computing environment, but they are not prerequisites for the One Pro’s native rotational 3DoF. Treat them as optional parts of a particular setup rather than requirements for the core feature.

How the four specifications work together

Specification One Pro figure or capability What it controls What it does not guarantee
Resolution 1920×1080 per eye Pixel detail and text/image sampling A particular screen size, sharpness in every area or high frame rate
Refresh rate Up to 120Hz How often the panels can update and how smooth motion can look 120 frames per second from every source or app
Field of view 57° Angular width of the visible virtual image More pixels, higher resolution or guaranteed immersion
Tracking Native 3DoF via the integrated X1 chip Response to yaw, pitch and roll; anchored or following screens Walking-position tracking, room mapping or hand tracking

For example, a 1920×1080-per-eye image can look detailed, 120Hz can make head movement smoother, 57° can make the screen feel broad, and 3DoF can keep that screen stable as you turn. None of these specifications replaces the others.

Do you need Beam Pro for 3DoF?

No. The One Pro’s native 3DoF is provided by the X1 hardware in the glasses, so a compatible USB-C DisplayPort source can use the glasses’ orientation-based Anchor and Follow behavior without Beam Pro. Beam Pro may be relevant when you want its own software, cameras or spatial-computing workflow, but buying it solely to unlock native 3DoF is unnecessary.

Compatibility still matters. Your source must provide video over a suitable USB-C connection, and the cable or adapter must carry DisplayPort video rather than power only. If the source lacks compatible video output, neither Beam Pro nor the glasses’ internal tracking chip can turn a charge-only USB-C port into a display connection.

What to check before comparing AR glasses

Use the same four questions for every model so marketing terms do not blur together:

  1. Resolution: Is the figure per eye or shared across both eyes? What modes does the source actually support?
  2. Refresh rate: Is the number a maximum, and under what resolution and connection conditions? Can your computer, phone or handheld output the required frame rate?
  3. FOV: Is the angle measured horizontally, diagonally or by another method? A quoted angle is meaningful only when the measurement convention is clear.
  4. Tracking: Is it rotational 3DoF, camera-assisted positional 6DoF or a combination? Which functions run in the glasses and which require another device?

Keep fit and optics separate from those four headline numbers. XREAL lists two One Pro IPD ranges, 57–66mm and 66–75mm, and product materials describe three-level electrochromic shading. IPD fit, brightness control, comfort and connectivity can determine whether you enjoy the display even when the headline specifications look strong.

A practical setup checklist

  1. Confirm the model: Make sure the listing identifies the documented One Pro and state your region, because “One Pro Plus” is not consistently established in first-party material.
  2. Check your source port: Verify that the USB-C port supports DisplayPort video output, not charging alone.
  3. Set a supported display mode: Start with 1920×1080 and select 120Hz only if the source and connection expose that option.
  4. Test motion: Scroll text and turn your head while using Anchor mode. If motion is not smooth, check whether the source fell back to 60Hz.
  5. Adjust fit and IPD: Use the correct nose-pad or frame position so both eyes sit inside the optical sweet spot; poor alignment can look like a resolution problem.
  6. Choose tracking appropriately: Use native 3DoF for an anchored or following screen. Add camera-based accessories only when you need capabilities beyond rotational tracking.

Common misunderstandings

  • “1080p means one image shared by both eyes.” The documented figure is 1920×1080 for each eye.
  • “120Hz means every game runs at 120fps.” The source and software must render and output frames at that rate.
  • “57° means 57 million pixels.” FOV is an angle; it says nothing directly about pixel count.
  • “3DoF is the same as room tracking.” 3DoF measures rotation only. It does not track walking or hand position.
  • “Beam Pro is required for anchored screens.” The One Pro’s X1 chip provides native 3DoF without that accessory.
  • “One Pro Plus is definitely a separate, higher-spec model.” The Plus name is not consistently confirmed by XREAL’s first-party documentation available for these specifications.
