HONOR, Xiaomi, and HUAWEI watches can pair with iPhones, but pairing does not guarantee Apple Watch–style integration. Across the specific models covered here, message replies are a recurring limitation; calendar syncing, Apple Health sharing, app availability, and health features depend on the watch. Check the exact model, iOS version, watch software, and region before buying.
What changes when a non-Apple watch is paired with an iPhone?
A watch may show notifications from an iPhone without letting you respond to them. Other integrations—such as importing calendar appointments, sharing health data with Apple Health, or installing third-party apps—also vary by model. The examples below describe particular watches, not every product from each manufacturer.

How do the specific watch models compare?
| Model | Messages and notifications | Calendar and Apple Health | Apps, calls, and other notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| HONOR Watch 6 | HONOR says the watch cannot reply directly to SMS, WeChat, or email. HONOR support | Notebookcheck found in its test that it could not sync the iPhone calendar or Apple Health. Notebookcheck comparison | Those findings are specific to the Watch 6 test; they do not establish behavior for every HONOR watch. |
| Xiaomi Watch S5 | It can display third-party app notifications, but Xiaomi says they cannot be answered on the watch. The iOS notification permissions also constrain some notification settings; the watch does not support “Open on phone.” Xiaomi FAQ | Notebookcheck reports that it can import iPhone calendar appointments and sync heart-rate, blood-oxygen, and sleep data to Apple Health when permissions are granted. Notebookcheck comparison | Notebookcheck reports Bluetooth calling with the iPhone. Notebookcheck comparison |
| HUAWEI Watch GT 7 | Notebookcheck reports that notifications display on iOS but message replies are unavailable. Notebookcheck comparison | Notebookcheck reports calendar support on iOS. Notebookcheck comparison | Notebookcheck reports Bluetooth calls, but no AppGallery when paired with an iPhone; Petal Maps therefore cannot be installed through that route. Notebookcheck comparison |
Can you reply to messages from these watches?
For the cited examples, receiving a notification is not the same as being able to answer it. HONOR explicitly says Watch 6 users cannot reply directly to SMS, WeChat, or email. Xiaomi says Watch S5 users can see third-party app notifications but cannot answer them on the watch. Notebookcheck reports that the HUAWEI Watch GT 7 does not support message replies on iOS.

Will calendar events and health data sync with Apple apps?
The answer differs even among these three examples. In Notebookcheck’s test, the HONOR Watch 6 did not sync the iPhone calendar or Apple Health. The Xiaomi Watch S5 can import calendar appointments and, with permissions granted, share heart-rate, blood-oxygen, and sleep data with Apple Health. Notebookcheck reports calendar support for the HUAWEI Watch GT 7, but the cited comparison does not establish Apple Health synchronization for that model.
Do not treat “health tracking” as proof that watch data will appear in Apple Health. Confirm the particular data types and the required permissions for the exact watch and companion app.

What about apps, calls, and health or workout features?
Third-party apps
App access can depend on which phone the watch is paired with. For the HUAWEI Watch GT 7, Notebookcheck reports that AppGallery is unavailable when paired with an iPhone, so Petal Maps cannot be installed through that route. This is a model-specific finding, not a claim about every HUAWEI watch.

Health and workout functions
HUAWEI’s compatibility tables distinguish iOS from Android. The Watch 4 Series table lists health and workout functions on iOS with regional caveats. The Watch 5 table marks many features available on both platforms, subject to its stated software and SOS conditions. These tables are more useful than a brand-wide compatibility claim: review the notes for the exact feature, region, and software version. How to check compatibility before buying
- Identify the exact watch model and variant. A feature reported for one model should not be assumed for another watch from the same brand.
- Check the current manufacturer compatibility page or FAQ. Look specifically for iOS support for message replies, notifications, calendar sync, Apple Health sharing, app installation, calls, and the health or workout functions you plan to use.
- Match the stated conditions. Confirm the listed iOS and watch software requirements, regional availability, and any permissions or SOS-related conditions.
- Plan notification permissions during setup. HONOR’s guidance says to check permissions in both the Health app and iPhone settings. If notifications fail, its troubleshooting guidance also recommends relinking and updating. HONOR notification guidance
Which trade-offs matter most?
- Choose around your essential interactions. If answering messages from your wrist matters, verify reply support for your exact pairing; notification display alone does not confirm it.
- Check data flow, not just sensors. A watch may record health measurements without syncing them to Apple Health.
- Consider app access separately from pairing. A connected watch may still lack its usual app store or a particular installation route on iPhone.
- Use model-level evidence. The cited HONOR, Xiaomi, and HUAWEI examples reveal differences between individual watches, not a universal ranking of the brands.
