I can’t honestly report what “my agents” ran today: there are no verified run logs here, and Google’s product information does not establish that Gemma 4 wrote this note on a particular laptop. What I can say is that Google now positions Gemma 4 as a family of models for local use, including a 12B model it says can run on a laptop with 16 GB of RAM. That is guidance, not proof of a successful run or a promise of speed.
What a Gemma 4 agent could do locally
Google describes Gemma 4 agentic workflows as able to plan, navigate apps and complete tasks, with native function-calling support. Those capabilities make a local agent workflow plausible: a model can decide when to call an available function, then use the result to continue its task. They do not establish that any specific agent completed a task on a specific computer.

Google’s Gemma 4 product page presents this as a family rather than one model. E2B and E4B are described as compute- and memory-efficient options for mobile and IoT; 12B, 26B and 31B are positioned for personal computers and more advanced reasoning. The right choice depends on memory, the task’s input types and the runtime that supports the hardware.

Can Gemma 4 12B run on a laptop?
In its June 3, 2026 announcement, Google said Gemma 4 12B is small enough for local laptop use with 16 GB of RAM, and described 16 GB of VRAM or unified memory for local execution. These are Google’s hardware guidelines, not a guarantee that every laptop with 16 GB will run every configuration comfortably, or that a particular task will finish at a useful speed.

The same announcement says: “Gemma 4 12B delivers performance nearing our larger 26B MoE model on standard benchmarks, but at less than half the total memory footprint.” That is a Google-reported comparison on standard benchmarks, not an independent test or a promise of equivalent results for every workload. Google also reported that Gemma 4 models had crossed 150 million downloads as of June 3, 2026; that is a launch-era figure, not a current total.
Ways to try a local setup
Google’s June 2026 AI Edge post covers its local stack and LiteRT-LM. Its announcement also lists LM Studio, Ollama, Google AI Edge Gallery and LiteRT-LM CLI as ways to experiment. The available options are not interchangeable guarantees: check current model support, runtime versions and compatibility with your operating system and hardware before following setup instructions.

When choosing a path, compare the model’s memory needs with the machine’s available memory, confirm support for the inputs you need (text, images, audio or video), and decide whether the task actually requires local or offline execution. Google’s materials describe models and capabilities but do not establish one universally best model or runtime.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhat a real daily note would need
To turn the title into a literal report, the author would need to confirm the device, model and runtime, date, and agent task using their own logs or notes. Without those records, saying what ran—or claiming that Gemma 4 wrote this on the author’s laptop—would go beyond what the available evidence supports.
