The Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition is a themed hardware package built around the Switch 2 console, not a software bundle. The box contains the console, a left and right pair of Joy-Con 2 controllers, two controller straps, a dock, Joy-Con 2 grip, AC adapter and Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. Nintendo’s US listing also names a USB-C charging cable, while Nintendo UK lists an Important Information leaflet. Nintendo’s UK package list does not include a game.
What is in the box?
Nintendo’s regional product pages identify the following contents. The safest way to compare a retailer listing is to match its checklist against these official entries rather than assume that every Zelda-themed image represents an item in the carton.

The console and controllers
The central item is one Nintendo Switch 2 console. A left and right Joy-Con 2 controller are supplied, so the package is ready for handheld use or two-controller configurations supported by the game being played. The two matching straps are separate accessories and should be present even if the controllers are initially attached to the console or stored in the grip.

The dock and grip
The Switch 2 dock is the television-play component of the package. The included Joy-Con 2 grip lets you slide both controllers into a single handheld-style controller when you are not using them attached to the console. Neither item should be treated as an optional add-on: both are part of the listed bundle contents.
Power, charging and video cables
The Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter is listed for the system. Nintendo’s US page separately identifies a USB-C charging cable, so US buyers should expect that cable in the box. Both Nintendo listings name an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. The HDMI lead is the supplied video connection between the dock and a display; it is distinct from the USB-C cable identified on the US page.
Paperwork
Nintendo UK names an Important Information leaflet. This is a printed information item, not a download code, game card or membership voucher.

What makes this a Zelda 40th Anniversary edition?
Triforce artwork on the console
Nintendo UK describes the console as featuring Triforce motifs on its back. That is the specific design detail established by Nintendo’s announcement and bundle pages. The edition is therefore a themed console variant rather than a package that simply adds a Zelda-themed sleeve to an otherwise unidentified system. Nintendo’s holiday announcement also presents the product as the 40th Anniversary Edition; see the Nintendo UK announcement.
What the listings do not promise
The official descriptions identify the console, dock and Joy-Con 2 controllers as included, but do not specify additional special artwork on the dock, grip or controllers. Product photos can show a coordinated presentation, yet the written contents are the authority for what is guaranteed. Do not infer a separately decorated dock, carrying case, screen protector, collectible item or soundtrack unless the regional seller or Nintendo listing explicitly adds it.
Does the Zelda Switch 2 bundle include a game?
Nintendo UK’s package-contents list does not list a game. On that evidence, treat the 40th Anniversary Edition as a hardware-only bundle: you receive the console and its standard play accessories, but no Zelda game code or game card is identified as part of the package.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a separate Nintendo Switch 2 title. Nintendo’s game page lists its release date as November 6, 2025; it is not named as an included item in the UK bundle contents. The separate game information is available at Nintendo’s Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment page.
Compatible Legend of Zelda amiibo can provide in-game rewards in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, but an amiibo is an optional accessory and is not listed in this console package. Buying the console edition does not by itself establish that you receive the game or an amiibo.
US and UK listings: the small content difference
The two official pages describe the same themed system and core hardware, but their written inventories are not identical. That difference matters when you import a system or compare a retailer’s regional SKU.

A difference in wording is not automatically proof that one region omits a physical cable or paperwork; it means the pages enumerate their contents differently. For a purchase outside your home region, ask the seller to confirm the exact regional box and included power hardware rather than relying on a translated product title.
Release date, SKU and availability caveats
Nintendo lists October 29, 2026 as the release date on both the US and UK pages. The US product page identifies SKU 121642. These are product identifiers, not evidence that a retailer has stock on a particular day.
The official pages reviewed do not establish a current price, retailer inventory, preorder status or cross-region price comparison. Those details can change and may differ by country, tax treatment and seller. Check the Nintendo store page for your region and the retailer’s own listing near the time you buy. A listing that uses the anniversary name but shows a different release date, SKU or contents deserves verification before payment.

How to check a retailer listing before buying
- Confirm the exact edition name. Look for “Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition,” not merely a standard Switch 2 with a Zelda game advertised nearby.
- Match the hardware inventory. The expected core set is the console, left and right Joy-Con 2, two straps, dock, grip, AC adapter and Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
- Check the regional extras. US descriptions name a USB-C charging cable; UK descriptions name an Important Information leaflet. Ask which regional package the seller is supplying if the wording is incomplete.
- Look for explicit software language. A game should be identified by name and format, such as a game card or download code. “Zelda-themed” alone does not establish that software is included.
- Verify the date and identifier. For the US edition, compare the October 29, 2026 date and SKU 121642 with the seller’s listing. For other regions, use the local Nintendo page because identifiers can differ.
- Save the contents description. Keep a screenshot or copy of the listing at checkout so you can compare the delivered box with the promised regional inventory.
Comparing it with a standard Switch 2 or another bundle
The anniversary edition should be compared on concrete axes rather than on promotional artwork alone. The official pages establish the following baseline for this edition; they do not provide a complete specification or price comparison for competing packages.

This framework prevents a common mistake: valuing a “bundle” by the picture while overlooking whether it includes software, a second controller set, a carrying case or only the same accessories supplied with a standard console.
Unboxing and setup checklist
Use the following checklist to make sure the physical contents are accounted for before discarding the packaging.
- Identify the console first. Confirm that the console is the 40th Anniversary Edition and inspect its rear panel for the described Triforce motifs.
- Count the controllers. Locate one left and one right Joy-Con 2. Check both controller straps and the grip before closing the box.
- Separate dock items from console items. Find the Nintendo Switch 2 dock, AC adapter and Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. In a US package, also look for the separately named USB-C charging cable.
- Retain the leaflet. Keep the Important Information leaflet if supplied; it may be packed beneath a cardboard insert.
- Connect only after inventory. Once every item is present, connect the AC adapter and HDMI cable to the dock as directed by Nintendo’s regional documentation, then place the console in the dock or use it handheld.
- Pair and charge the controllers. Attach the Joy-Con 2 controllers to the console or use the grip according to the console’s on-screen instructions. Use the supplied straps when a game calls for wrist security.
- Handle software separately. If you want Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment or another Zelda title, purchase or download it as a separate product unless your seller explicitly documents a game entitlement.
Who this edition suits
- Choose it for the design if the Triforce console artwork is the reason you want a themed Switch 2.
- Choose it for a complete hardware setup if you need the console, paired Joy-Con 2, dock, grip, power adapter, straps and HDMI cable in one box.
- Budget separately for software because the UK contents list does not include a game.
- Check regional documentation if you are buying outside the US or UK, especially for the cable list, power adapter and seller’s return terms.
In short, this is a Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware edition with Triforce detailing and the accessories needed for handheld or docked play. Its official package descriptions do not establish an included game, a current price or current retailer stock, so those are separate questions to verify for your region.
