What Citrini’s “New Paradigm” for Crypto Investing Actually Means—and What We Know

Bloomberg’s headline says Citrini sees agentic finance fostering a “new paradigm” for crypto investing, but the available article text does not reveal what Citrini means by that phrase. The headline alone does not establish Citrini’s examples, investment thesis, or recommendations. What can be explained is the broader idea: software agents may automate parts of financial monitoring and execution, raising new questions about permissions, custody, and accountability.

What does Citrini say the new paradigm is?

The headline published by Bloomberg is “Citrini Says Agentic Finance Fosters ‘New Paradigm’ for Crypto Investing.” The available Bloomberg result confirms that wording but does not expose the article body, so Citrini’s specific argument remains unknown. It would be misleading to infer which assets, strategies, or conclusions the article discusses from the headline alone.

“Agentic finance” is used for systems that take a user’s stated objective and automate some combination of monitoring, applying decision rules, and executing financial actions. The term does not have one settled definition in the sources available here. It can refer to distinct activities—from routing trades to automating payments or business accounting—that should not be treated as one investment strategy.

What can agentic finance do in crypto?

Condition-based trading and execution

In a May 4, 2026 announcement, Kuvi described an integration with KuCoin Broker Pro intended to let users define condition-based strategies and route trades through KuCoin. Kuvi said the strategy execution would occur on its platform while settlement and asset custody remained with KuCoin. The release also said the integration was undergoing institutional verification at the time of the announcement. These are company-reported details, not independent evidence of performance or safety, and they do not establish the integration’s current status. Kuvi’s announcement

Automation in business finance

MoonPay’s June 22, 2026 announcement about acquiring Entendre describes AI-assisted business finance operations, including accounting, reconciliation, treasury, and close workflows. That is evidence of activity in enterprise finance automation, not evidence that autonomous crypto investment strategies improve returns. MoonPay CEO and co-founder Ivan Soto-Wright said, “Legacy software was built for manual workflows. The next financial system will be coordinated by humans and agents.” This is a company executive’s forward-looking view, not a neutral finding or a statement attributed to Citrini. Why stablecoin payment growth is not proof of an investing shift

Payment infrastructure may support automated transactions, but payments and investment decisions are different use cases. Stripe’s 2025 annual letter reported that stablecoin payments volume doubled to around $400 billion in 2025, with an estimated 60% representing B2B payments. Those are figures stated by Stripe; the B2B share is an estimate. The figure measures payment volume, not agent-managed investments, trading performance, or the size of an agentic-finance market. Stripe also discussed Tempo, its payment-focused blockchain project, in connection with potential agentic payments. Stripe’s 2025 annual letter

Arc’s May 2026 company post describes its planned stablecoin-native Layer 1 as designed for programmable settlement and AI-driven transactions. That is infrastructure positioning, not an investment recommendation or proof of a shift in crypto investing. Arc’s announcement

What remains uncertain about agentic investing?

A February 28, 2025 thesis by Periphery (Peri Labs) and GAIB places agentic finance within a broader developing convergence of AI and decentralized finance, alongside areas such as tokenized compute, yield generation, and hardware aggregation. Its authors characterize the field as nascent and identify technical, regulatory, and educational challenges. This is their assessment and outlook, not an established consensus or evidence that automated strategies are effective. The AiFi thesis

For anyone evaluating an automated financial system, the practical questions are not just what its agent claims to do, but what authority it receives and what happens when its decisions go wrong:

  • Custody: Who holds the assets, and which party can move them?
  • Permissions and override: Can the system trade only within defined limits, and can the user pause or revoke access?
  • Scope: Which venues, assets, and chains does it support?
  • Rule transparency: Can users inspect the strategy rules and review how actions were triggered?
  • Execution and settlement: Where are trades executed and settled, and what fees or other costs apply?
  • Evidence: Are performance claims independently verified, and do they account for costs and risk?

The sources cited here describe provider claims and emerging use cases; they do not establish that autonomous crypto strategies reliably improve investment outcomes. Nor do they answer what Citrini specifically argues or recommends in Bloomberg’s article.
