You can cook far more than fries in an air fryer: meat, fish, vegetables, frozen foods, baked treats and leftovers are all supported uses for Philips Airfryers. But whether a particular dish, liner or material is safe depends on your appliance’s instructions. The key rules are to leave room for air to circulate, never put loose parchment in an operating fryer, and never fill the pan with oil or liquid.
What foods can you cook in an air fryer?
Philips lists chicken, beef, fish and other foods commonly fried, grilled or roasted, along with vegetables such as zucchini, corn on the cob and peppers. Its examples also include frozen snacks; cakes, tarts, muffins, bread and homemade pizza; and casseroles such as lasagna when cooked in a dish that fits the basket. You can also reheat leftovers such as pizza slices and bread rolls. These are manufacturer-supported examples for Philips appliances, not a guarantee that every model handles every recipe the same way. Check your own air fryer’s manual and cooking guidance. For homemade breaded food, Philips recommends adding a little oil to the breading. Its guidance says frozen ingredients do not necessarily need defrosting first, though they may take slightly longer to cook. Follow the recipe and your model’s instructions for timing and preparation.

What cookware and bakeware can go in an air fryer?
Philips says its Airfryers can use ovenproof dishes or molds made of glass, ceramic, metal or silicone. Silicone or paper cupcake cups and molds are also listed for items such as cupcakes, muffins and small gratins. Treat this as Philips guidance rather than a universal approval: a material that works in one air fryer may not be permitted in another. Philips: What can I prepare in my Philips Airfryer?
#1 Best Overall
Before using a dish, check that it is ovenproof, permitted by your air fryer’s manual, and compatible with the exact model. It must fit in the basket with space left around it for airflow. Philips says to place the baking dish in the basket, not directly in the pan, because the latter can obstruct airflow. Use oven mitts when removing hot cookware.
There is no single pan size that fits all air fryers. Philips provides maximum dimensions and accessory compatibility by model, so check those details before buying or using a dish. If you are shopping for bakeware, look for an “air-fryer baking dish” or an ovenproof dish sized for your appliance, then verify its dimensions and leave clearance around it.

Can you put parchment paper, foil or other liners in an air fryer?
Never run a lightweight sheet of parchment or baking paper in the fryer by itself. A Philips manual warns that circulating air can lift it into the heater. If your model’s manual permits baking or parchment paper, place food on top to hold it in place throughout cooking. This precaution does not mean every air fryer allows every type of liner. Philips Airfryer manual
The same manual warns against putting paper, cardboard or non-heat-resistant plastic in the appliance. Instructions vary by model, so check your manual before using any liner or unfamiliar material. Do not assume foil is universally permitted; confirm whether your specific air fryer allows it and follow its placement instructions.

Can you put oil or liquid in an air fryer?
Do not fill the pan with oil or any other liquid. Philips explains that its appliance cooks with hot air, not by frying food in a pan of oil or fat. A small amount of oil used as an ingredient or applied to food is different from filling the pan; use only the amount called for by the recipe and allowed by your model’s instructions. Hot air needs room to circulate. Leave space around bakeware, avoid completely covering the basket bottom with meat, and stay within your appliance’s MAX indication and model-specific capacity instructions. Overloading can prevent air from moving freely and cooking evenly. Philips: What is the maximum amount of food that can be prepared in the Philips Airfryer?

Philips says its Airfryer basket capacity for French fries ranges from 500 to 2,000 grams, depending on the model. That is a manufacturer-published model range, not a universal loading recommendation; Philips suggests filling to about two-thirds of the MAX indication for best results. Follow the marking on your own appliance rather than applying that capacity range to another model. Philips: What is the maximum amount of food that can be prepared in the Philips Airfryer?
