Vodafone has not specified a minimum broadband speed for its new UK Vodafone TV service in the launch announcement or the general UK speed guidance covered here. Netflix’s streaming recommendations can help you estimate demand for Netflix streams, but they are not Vodafone TV requirements.
Has Vodafone set a minimum speed for UK Vodafone TV?
Not in the UK launch announcement reviewed here. Vodafone announced the new service on 3 September 2026, with availability planned for October to customers with a Vodafone broadband or mobile plan, but gave no minimum internet speed. Its general broadband guide also does not specify a Vodafone TV threshold. Check Vodafone’s current UK service terms or setup guidance for any later requirement.

The announcement describes an Android TV set-top box with 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, alongside Freely, Netflix, HBO Max, live channels, apps and games. Those features describe what the box supports; they do not establish a minimum connection speed. Vodafone’s UK launch announcement gives the product details.

Vodafone UK’s general speed guide relays these Netflix recommendations for a stream on one device:
| Netflix stream quality | Netflix recommendation reported by Vodafone UK |
|---|---|
| HD | 3 Mbps per device |
| Full HD | 5 Mbps per device |
| Ultra HD (4K) | 15 Mbps per device |
These are Netflix recommendations as reported by Vodafone UK in its 2023 guide, not tested Vodafone TV requirements. Vodafone illustrates the effect of concurrent viewing with three Ultra HD Netflix streams: at 15 Mbps per device, they use 45 Mbps in total. That is an example of simultaneous demand, not a recommended Vodafone TV package speed or a guarantee of picture quality. Other devices and online activities in the home also share the connection.
For your household, consider the number of streams likely to run at once, the resolution of those streams and other internet use during viewing. A single stream and several simultaneous 4K streams create different demands; the Netflix figures can help frame the comparison but cannot confirm what Vodafone TV itself requires. See Vodafone UK’s general broadband-speed guide for its streaming context.

Why a fast broadband line can still buffer on the TV
The speed delivered to your home and the connection from your router to the television are not the same thing. Vodafone says experienced throughput can be affected by the number of connected devices, router placement, interference from nearby Wi-Fi networks and home wiring. Its explanation of sync speed and throughput covers these in-home factors.
- If the TV is near the router: Vodafone suggests connecting it directly by Ethernet for a fast, consistent local connection.
- If Wi-Fi coverage is weak where the TV sits: an extender or mesh system may help extend coverage. It can improve the local connection but does not raise the speed supplied by the broadband line.
- If service is unreliable despite good coverage: consider other connected-device demand and Wi-Fi interference as possible causes; a headline broadband speed alone does not guarantee steady playback.
Vodafone’s guide notes that streams can adapt to available bandwidth, while unreliable Wi-Fi may cause buffering or lower picture quality. Neither the guide nor the launch announcement promises a particular resolution at a particular line speed.

No—not as evidence of a UK requirement. Vodafone Ireland’s terms for its TV service specify 20 Mbps for Vodafone TV and 28 Mbps for wireless multi-room viewing, and state that the service is for the Republic of Ireland. Those figures are country- and service-specific and should not be transferred to the new UK product. The figures appear in Vodafone Ireland’s TV terms dated 27 September 2023.
